LADY LOVE DIES "INVESTIGATION FREAK" IS ON THE CASE
Paradise is an island that regenerates every few millennia. The psychic power that the alien worshipers within release into the universe is meant to feed and eventually resurrect their fallen deities. But this force also attracts undesired interest from demons, who eventually corrupt each island - until a new alternate reality is birthed by the Council.
The system isn’t perfect, but it will be one day - on Perfect 25, the next island-to-be. But on the eve of rebirth, the Council is murdered and Paradise is killed.
In the aftermath, the “investigation freak” Lady Love Dies is summoned from exile to find the culprit. This is the crime to end all crimes.
What are the facts? What are the truths? Are they the same?
BREATH LIFE BACK INTO PARADISE
You are tasked with finding the killer and building an airtight case against them. Take your case to trial and argue your interpretation of the evidence. Only when someone is successfully convicted can the crime be considered solved and Paradise be saved.
FACT AND TRUTH ARE NOT THE SAME
The “truth” is that there are many possible killers, and many ways to build a case. Even if you make a convincing case for prosecution and get someone convicted, is the mystery really solved?

Paradise is an island set in an alternate future history filled with cryptic lore and even more mysteries. Examine bizarre relics to learn more about this world’s surreal history.
FIND YOUR PARADISE
You choose who to accuse, and build a case to support conviction. Everyone on Paradise has a secret to hide and something to gain. Old friends become new suspects, forcing you to choose between the evidence, the greater good and your own beliefs. There are many possible murderers, but who you pick will define your own personal truth.
GATHER EVIDENCE
Let your personal computer and electronic assistant Starlight be your guide through another dance of an investigation. Collect evidence, record testimony and interpret the facts to form your own truth.
UNLOCK HIDDEN AREAS
Solve hieroglyph puzzles on ancient nightmare computers to discover new areas of the island, find concealed evidence and reveal terrifying secrets.

My interpretation of what it means for Yuri to be Lydia's handler was that he does all the "secretary" type stuff. He talks to each member of the syndicate to schedule when and where Lydia picks them up, make sure they got all their stuff taken care of before they leave, that kind of thing. That way Lydia just gets a list of "Pick this guy up here at this time" to go through.

They're definitely not characters we see elsewhere at least. 13:55 Resident Evil 4? 18:00 In the music menu if you switch it from "island" to "starlight" you'll always get the background music, instead of having it fade in and out as you get near the speakers placed around the island. Up to you what you prefer. 27:50 The person you met was One Last Kiss. She isn't classified anywhere in Starlight (at least yet?). 31:50 Mmm hmm. Paradise Killer's "Earth" is the same one we currently inhabit. The God Hunters erased all mention of the gods from our history. The Island Sequences all take place in a pocket dimension and those events ran parallel to Earth's. I'm pretty sure the game says somewhere that the gods came to Earth in some number AD so those dates match up with ours. 57:40 Yuri is Carmelina's secretary and Lydia's boss. He decides who and when Lydia transports people to Island 25.

Huh, my headcanon is that with the weird timeline stuff that was hinted at in the past, their version of earth is an alternate history. Ours is like a what-if, a timeline where the gods never showed up. That or it takes place in the future, and the AD means "anno domini" in the sense that it's the number of years since the gods arrived.

I think it’s a parallel universe and the various characters have come from our one so the AD is our AD. Trivia: that Sphinx in the apartment is called a Lamassu The crocodile-hippo monster is called Amut iirc, and is a she.

Hieroglyphs are pictograms; those symbols on his chest are cuneiform which are completely different.

I think the stuff on his chest is closer to cuneiform. Sumerians used it to write on clay tablets.

This game lets you frame people, by the way. As long as you have enough evidence to convince Judge, the trial goes through. That's what Love Dies means with her occasional quip "The facts and the truth are not the same". So be careful with collecting evidence.

You're never forced to use any evidence you collect. There's zero harm in collecting it.

​@@williancruz9657One quirk of this game that I enjoy is that there are no clear right answers about who to prosecute and what punishment to inflict, especially when, after the trial, LD's gun is permanently unlocked and she basically becomes Judge Dredd. Do you refuse to prosecute someone like Carmelina because she's the last of her family and therefore the last to possess the Architect ability? Do we prosecute someone who might've been involved but ignorant of the murder plot? Is it right to exile any of these people? Is it okay to let Henry be the scapegoat since he'll die with the island, anyway? Or should all guilty parties be exposed and executed? So many questions.

This game is so out of my wheelhouse I would never know of its existence if you two hadn't made this fun LP. The colour palette alone is like a warning to me to avoid it, but then I would have missed out on Keith's wonderful Shinji mania.

I made it through this whole game without ever finding out about the footbath upgrades...

Did you still find all the items? There are many I'd probably never locate without the meditation upgrade.

I did not find every item without the upgrade. I missed a number of blood shards, one or two shinjis, and a few other minor things. a couple things were specifically unavailable to me cause I didn't have the movement upgrades. this was months ago so I don't remember many specifics, sorry XD @@RanMouri82
