I've tried making 3D particle fire. For a handful of them on good hardware it's fine, but you quickly run into performance issues at scale, and if you're supporting PC you also have to account SOOO MANY hardware configurations that it's a royal pain. Spend any time as a game dev and you appreciate the GENIUS that goes into a game that looks good and plays smoothly on a wide range of hardware.

Like, say, the idea that you should talk to Ansbach? Keith, I appreciate what you do, and I generally like listening to your commentary and opinions, and I know talking about things takes up a bunch of your brainpower doing this... but sometimes, you can be very, _very_ frustrating to listen to.
