Game Description:
You are Dave, a hyena who just finished his final year of schooling along with a few of his friends. What better way to end the school year than to spend it at an all expenses paid stay at a luxury mansion for a whole month? After all, after this month, everyone's going to be moving away to focus on their chosen paths in life, so this is the last time that everyone's going to be together for a long way.
Will romance flourish in the time spent isolated in a mansion, living the high life? Or is this all an elaborate ploy by someone pulling the strings at the mansion itself that just sees the group as a bunch of playthings for something much more sinister? Expect a story full of questions and mysteries as the friends suffer through tragedy, death, and a looming threat that grows ever closer all while trying to remember the nicer times in their lives before everything may come to an abrupt end.
Characters will die, decisions must be made, and shying away from the consequences of such will only make the journey forward harder. Can you change their fate by using the mysterious vault that seemingly wants a password to open? Is this your one salvation to save everyone?

@@hyaenaGemah Dave kind of has more personality in the true end/path P. It really is more just he has the personality of Akane from Zero Escape. Ie he knows every one of his friend's intimate secrets and trauma while a few of them still don't know his dad is dead.

@@hyaenaGemah Yeah, it is. Upside is that Path P is pretty short, so the writer doesn't have to handle the implications of it. If you haven't played/seen Zero Escape and want context for Akane, then I recommend watching Keith's playthrough. If you like this series you'll enjoy the train wreck that is Zero Escape.

Is a hard toss up which is worse: the writing of romancing Tyson or the "main" plot. Tyson's more cringe, but at least some members of the cast engages with it, unlike 95% of the main plot.

Thank God. Hopefully, when that's over, we can maybe see if one of the other romantic subplots go somewhere. Maybe we can date Hoss and see if he has any personality outside of anime and bisexual (I'm guessing no, but let's waste dozens of hours of gameplay to confirm that anyways)

@@brasteryakintosh9418 why, you are forgetting the rivetting plot lines of how he is a lie detector, an aspiring child actor, and a school shooting survivor. he also puts a lot of effort on being pretty. and who could forget? did you know the conservatory is like a green house for people? pretty sure that was his line

@TrinexxSlayer I'm sure it'll be brought up in exactly one heartfelt scene barely a week in and then the rest of the route is spent talking about how they'll eventually talk about it, then two weeks later, they'll hastily try to do something with the plotline for one day and drop it immediately afterwards to focus on the main story

How much the level of SFW to NSFW varies from route to route is maybe the most dynamic thing about this novel. The fact that Sal and Roswell's are completely lacking anything while Tyson and Dean are in your face with it is some tonal whiplash. Knowing that Dean is based off the author's ex make how much explicit content a bit uncomfortable.

@@TrinexxSlayer Supposedly. Haven't dug into it because it feel messy to do so and Password already consumes so much time with little to no pay off. I don't want the pay off to be that Grizz used this novel to romanticize his lost relationships and maybe cope with their loss.

@@TheMARStudios i mean, i could imagine they were still together when he started wrting and that's why dean is the default romantic interest. then they broke up and you couldn't just delete dean from it, still the backstory is troublesome if it's based on things that actually happened.

@@TrinexxSlayer Do agree if Dean and Rami's backstory is based on real events then it certainly makes the history of this novel a minefield. It does make sense why Dean was supposed to the default and then it changed to Tyson over time if that is the structure of events. If you want, on the last episode a user named palmeraktis5208 replied to one of your comments there where they bring up various things that make Password exceptionally messier if they're true.

My god, I loved him, I need to get away from him, but the sex was great. It's an HR critique sandwhich, which means Dave really isn't a person.

I think what's kind of depresing to me is that, in the hands of a better writer, a character like Tyson coming to terms with being demisexual or whatnot and grappling with not even being able to understand WHY he only feels the way he does about Dave specifically and no one else would be incredibly compelling tbh and yet despite being the only character in Password who feels like an actual character and not just a bare bones archetype his coming out scene still manages to feel so unengaging because not only is Dave just not a good enough character for the conversation to bounce off of but the ""drama"" surrounding it just ends up feeling so pointless, like you said *EDIT:* 44:10 "Dave says such passively mean things, and I'm not sure whether the game registers it" thank you for putting into words one of my biggest issues with this game (in addition to how it handles the SA plot) it fucking astounds me that people will nag on about what an awful person, say, Chase Hunter is but then turn around and say a character like Dave is their precious little baby boy when it's like... at least when Chase is saying shitty things it's an intentional choice on the part of the narrative and not just because the character is written to be a helpless blorbo who's incapable of doing literally anything on his own except being phenomenally passive-aggressive and making terrible decisions at all times

Highlight suggestions: 25:04 - 26:50 (butt treatment), 33:28 - 35:25 ("yes, and"-ing self-gaslighting), 36:50 - 37:48 (the amnesiac consent paradox), 43:33 - 45:08 (filled up). 6:45 "Dave's expression is just...he should at least be shocked or something" "He looks very smug" Dave is just an audience stand-in: that's the "I knew it" reaction we're having after this "reveal".

The climax of the romantic arc between the two people that should have the most chemistry, because they have the most history, and oh boy is it a mess. Tyson has only just barely processed that he can express his attraction to Dave and the both of them just aren't able to really handle the transition. They also waited to now to actually try to address the SA, which has just been one of the biggest glaring problems of the route. Not that any of the other routes are masterpieces, but Tyson's is the roughest because it introduces so many problems that it doesn't know how to handle, let alone takes the time to. Even though this whole story is empirically about wasting time. This route arguably has the most potential to be the best, but it could easily be seen as the worst. The only thing that might save it from being so is that nothing happens for Sal and Roswell is just a terrible person that if you don't do first you have to chose to power through to get to the true end.

Dean having to recover emotionally because he dumped Dave might be funniest thing I've read all month. The absurdity this game reaches at times fascinates me greatly.

Know that Dave and maybe Roswell and Orlando are supposed to be 18-19, with Tyson and Hoss being in the 19-20 range, but is there actually a statement from Grizz that confirms everyone's age? Dean and Sal's age's are very nebulous and never clarified.

1:38:24 - you forget Toaster, the author doesn’t speak media literate language, he just thinks he does. So any hypothesis you can come up with based on competent literary structure is probably wrong. 😜
