I thought it might be a pseudo-legendary. Just a toss up between Larvitar or Dratini. The other suspect was the Swinub line.

i considered all 3 for my final team member but i went with Larvitar because i've never used it on a team before

@@crimsonscytheyt8980 Trust me, even before level 55 it's a complete superstar. It's fantastic against Will and Koga and could even hold it's own against Lance. Slightly better than the Dratini line and leaps and bounds ahead of the Beldum and Bagon lines (Salamence is easily one of my least favourite Pokemon ever, along with Miltank, Skarmory and Yanmega).

how shockingly bad is the cyndaquil line moveset? unbearably bad...

@@moodycxnt it's level up moveset is bad, i will not deny that, the Totodile line has the best level up moveset out of the johto starters

The moveset is awful, however Quilava alone is still a beast in almost every battle especially if you know what to prepare for. Now Typhlosion! If only it had drought! Sunny Day, Solar Beam, Eruption and/or Blast Burn. That’s about it unless you want flamethrower, lava plume, or heat wave. And I would say take the time to get flamethrower at the goldenrod city so it’s easier on you until Quilava evolves. Between it’s blaze ability the charcoal you get for doing the story mode, and it’s high stats the fire moves aren’t even bad. Leveling it up while fighting team rocket is so satisfying. By the time you run out of pp with Quilava alone, it would already have learned a new move and/or beat them.
