It's somewhat worth mentioning that the sum of the excess of $100 that he got on each profitable box was $134.48. That in addition to the $76.73 on that last box comes out to $211.21 which means that assuming the cost of each box was consistently $100, he could have technically bough 2 more boxes. Then of course if he actually sold the cards worth less than a dollar he probably could have added between $5 and $10 to the profit of each box and that's just for the rares he priced out on screen. Heck maybe even more if the commons were evaluated. Some of them are worth something too. All in all, a pretty impressive set. Very fun to open.

Yeah, we would have to wait for a month or so cuz MTG Weebs wanna get their hands on Liliana by Amano. But its gonna be DAMN hard to get the ones you wanna get. Maybe Naochika's Ral or Karn would make me "Happy" to say the least since they're less RARE than Liliana... but other artist are well OK as well, but we can only wait and see when people will get their things

Couple of things I noticed about box 1 ... You passed Ashioks and Narsets, both of those are over 2 dollars. You priced the normal and foil Oath of Kaya at 98 cents.

The 2nd oath of kaya wasnt foil. Planeswalkers dont count as the pack rare. You can get 3 mythics in 1 pack. a mythic planeswalker, one as your pack rare, and 1 foil

Always love the jab at people who buy boosters. I mean I get that it's smarter to buy singles if you have a deck in mind especially for standard, but somebody has to open up some packs or else these cards won't be available to buy anyways. Also Tibalt is probably the card most likely to keep me away from joining any Patreon.

Opened two boxes so far. I have all planeswalkers except Bolas, didn't get the boar, and I managed to get one of the four gods. On the plus side I have an extra "buy a box" promo that I may trade to someone for the right card (I know I can't trade it for a Bolas). I bought boxes for a couple reasons. -I enjoy trying for a complete collection of the cards. -I enjoy opening packs -I want to support my local shop with making the purchase. Any cards I absolutely need for a deck I either see if I already have it, or check the two closest shops near me.

Hey Professor! As a new MTG player your videos are indispensable. These videos must leave you with an excess of cards that aren’t worth the S&H to sell. Yesterday I visited a prison in Middle TN and met a young veteran in the “Veteran Incentives Pod” who has taught the guys he is serving time with magic and they all love it, calling it “cardboard crack”. They have turned cribbage boards into makeshift magic scoreboards with life total, counters, charges, etc. I got a look at the guy who is teaching everyone’s green deck and the cards have seen better days. I’m sure the guys there would love some new cards... To get into the pod they are in they have to be in programming and be taking their rehabilitation seriously meaning going months without infractions, etc. plus they are all veterans of US military. If you’re interested in donating some cards I can try to help get you connected!

I have to say, WOC really made a great set this time. I dare to say that this is my favorite set ever. Really strong cards changing formats and also a fun draft experience! Almost all the rare+ cards are so good that they can be used for something, so it's hard to be dissapointed after opening a pack. Thank you wizards!

Love watching these, but sticking a booster cracked number somewhere onscreen would make it a hell of a lot more suspenseful. Knowing with certainty that we only have a couple packs, and just five dollars to get to goal would up the tension a lot more than having to keep track as it goes.

Something I never quite get with the challenge is why you don't tally the previous's boxes earnings as a buffer zone for losses in a subsequent box. Like for example, if you open box 1 and it has 150 bucks worth of rare cards you sell, shoudn't you have a 50$ buffer zone, meaning next box would still be profitable if you only get 50$ worth of cards in it... Always seems wierd to me to see you make a profit on 3-4 boxes, then stop because you're missing like two bucks to break even on the last box. Pretty sure you could get to 10-15 box openings that way without loss of money , provided you can sell all these rares (which might be hard).

I did extremely well in my box. i got six mythics and some really great pulls. That said I only buy one box each set. I then do draft and buy singles as that is the best investment. Lots of 'box #5s" out there!

Hey Prof. Great video as always. I'm always curious when it comes to the Booster Box Game videos. Do you have pre-established channels for selling your cards where you know they will be sold quickly and at a fair price, be it online or at your LGS? For casuals like myself just looking for some fun, would you say this game is viable without such channels? Of course a large part of it comes from the luck of the box, but personally I have never really sold cards before and am super intrigued as to whether or not this is viable without those good connections. Keep up the good work. Or don't. It's up to you. I'm not your dad.

@@DerekScottBland Yea that's what I suspected. I'm from the UK so my idea of what $1 gets you is a little off. Also it seems to me that if you want any chance at all you have to jump on the train straight away. The value of a lot of cards tanked just in few days covered in this video. A nice idea, and when my friends and I are buying a box anyway for drafting it could have been fun to maybe get an extra box or two, but alas, seems it's not worth the effort or the gamble.

I assume he takes a bit of a loss on buying the boxes. The point of the game is to show the value of the cards, but the amount that the store buys it for is going to be less than that

B C pretty much by definition, the big singles sellers will open product if the expected value of the box is higher than their purchase price (wholesale, so 70-75ish). By doing so they inject higher supply into supply-demand until the EV drops to only barely above cost. If you can’t match their box pricing, or at least come close, *and* have a fairly direct channel to the players (no selling to a retailer who has to have room for marking it up...) you can’t compete to make profit.
