Game Description:
What if you could hear every word spoken at the scene of a crime? “Acoustic Detectives” wanted for testing our new device! Return aurally to crime scenes and use the voices you hear to identify potential suspects and solve the mysteries. What is it that’s connecting these seemingly unrelated cases?
Put on your headphones and step back into the past. Use the voices you hear to return to crime scenes, tracking down each individual involved and solving the cases. But where do the voices come from? Can you trust what you hear? And what's the mysterious thread weaving all of these cases together?
A Unique Case-Solving Experience
Discover the truth hidden in the voices from the past.
Step through time as you use our device to eavesdrop on conversations from past crime scenes. Every clue, every move, and every motive will be presented in the form of audio. Rather than controlling any one character, you only need listen to their conversations, following along as the story evolves. Use the information you hear to match names to voices and determine how everything (and everyone) is related. Can you discover the truth?
Open-Ended Narrative Mystery Game
Explore the story and piece together the puzzle in your own way!
Don't expect to be "fed" a pile of clues. Rather, take the role of a fly on the wall, observing and listening to the events as they unfold. Anyone could be the culprit; key clues may be revealed at any second; any character's storyline may cross paths with another at any point in time. YOU be the editor-the order of the story is up to you!
--------------------------
Tributes To:
Detective Fiction: In Unheard, all the clues in a case will be presented to players. There's no hidden information, nor rooms that require a key to enter. Players will be privy to the same information as everyone present at the crime scenes.
Immersive Theater: All characters in Unheard have their own storylines; however, each of these storylines will become interwoven in the same space, and at the same time, resulting in complicated cases that force you to meticulously search for and track clues. You can choose to follow one character or move around between multiple characters. You can also replay the audio as many times as you want until you reach a conclusion.
Radio Drama: Unheard is, in a way, an interactive radio drama. By combining aural narrative techniques with the type of exploration elements present in video games, Unheard offers a brand-new, non-linear radio drama experience.
Special Thanks:
Special thanks to our voice actors and directors in both China and the U.S. Thank you for your continued hard work and support.

Like this style of games? I've played at least three previous games where you can re-experience events via nonlinear time while you try to solve what happened or how to fix it. These time travely detective game things. Anyway, I made a playlist for these similar games: kzbin.info/aero/PL5dr1EHvfwpPb6LfCFI-PWJX_JbUgDRLb I also understand that there may be some who take issue with the episode structure. I thought about making the series one episode per mission, but the mission lengths are just too inconsistent and eventually too long. If you want to binge the entire mission in one sitting each time you may want to wait until the series is finished or until each mission's final episode comes out. I haven't finished editing the series yet, but I believe that mission 1 ends in part 2, mission 2 will probably be self contained in part 3, and mission 3 will probably end up as three episodes, ending in part 6. We haven't recorded the next mission yet, but I think it's the last one so it'll probably end in whatever episode is marked as the finale. There might be multiple endings, though. As I saw the missions drag on longer and longer it just stopped being feasible to accomplish making a daily video series while also doing one episode per mission, so I went with daily, as that's how the channel has always been formatted. Anyway, yes, Shovel Knight: King of Cards is probably next. I'm certainly trying to get to it. This time-slot went from being the puzzle slot to being the indie/puzzle slot because indie games have been underrepresented lately. Since we spent a fairly long time with the indie game Where the Water Tastes Like Wine I wanted to spend a vaguely equivalent amount of time with puzzle games, so I'm doing The White Door and Unheard. I kind of imagine the time-slot as a pendulum that swings back and forth between the two subcategories in an attempt at fairness, so I didn't want to go straight from Wine to Shovel Knight despite the demand for it. Give the puzzle guys their turn. Yes, I'm aware that the definition of puzzle is super murky so for all I know there are people who don't count unheard as one but do count Wine. Meh, an attempt was made. Ultimately it's doing wonders for our variety, having these four wildly different games back to back.

The voice acting's a bit overdone but I'm really enjoying it, especially the female vo leading/instructing the player! Her voice is eerily familiar. 🤔 The timeless moving through a scene "detectiving" reminds me of Obra Dinn a little. Loved that game!

People cared about belching on the channel? But... Game Grumps is still one of the most popular gaming channels and Arin and Danny release various kinds of gas all the time.

Well, i would as well. I don't know if you are using headphones, but getting burped directly into your ear is not something that i'd consider to be "entertaining". I know there are people out there who do it as "their thing" to be "quirky", but i just can't stand it. When it happens from time to time, it can't be helped, i guess, just like in real life... be polite about it and move on, but at some point it would just be too much. So yeah, at least some people would care, and Game Grumps certainly sounds like something i wouldn't enjoy, if they also use it as "their thing".

I've played this game. It was short. But it was sweet. Like butterscotch for your ear canals. (Editory) Also the whole audio thing they do is really well put together.

I just want more games like these, they're so fun to play and intriguing. Then again, i have a hard-on for time travel, so i might be biased. Just checked the playlist Keith, i hadn't heard of Tocoma, i'll go check it out. Do you perhaps know of other games of this genre in your giant "to-play" list? Ones that you haven't gotten to yet?

Some of the voice acting is a bit over the top (that French guy, my god) but looking forward to the series, really interesting game overall and your chat to sum up the events as they happen will keep it from getting boring :)

I played it but while it was interesting, i shouldnt have tried to beat the game in 1 sitting. It's great for short burst but audio wise, some part of the game just gets so loud, my ear hurts. It's actually pretty interesting though and i hope more weird games like this show up.

Two people talking over the game which heavily implies on voice acting ( with zero subtitles) and story - no that great idea in my opinion.
