I'm sorry but not being able to play multiple cards per turn is weird. How else am I supposed to completely bypass the uno rule by placing two cards of the same number at one time and win. How else are you supposed to do the epic strategy that is stacking +2 cards on your hated neighbor. I don't know any other way to play

You can stack in some versions. The steam version lets you pass on a +2 if you have one yourself, making it a +4. The steam version also lets you jump in if someone plays an identical card to the one you have. The steam version is actually pretty great, with lots of rules you can add or remove based on what you want. They mentioned playing more than one card, which is an option, and you can turn off the challenge thing with the wild cards, or make it so that you draw until you can play. I assume this version actually has the ability to change these things, but maybe Polygon just didn't realize? Seems weird to make a UNO game without adding options for such frequently used rules.

@@danielconnor8516 If a +2 is played, you can stack another +2 and pass the buck. If a +4 wild is played, you can either stack with other +4, and/or you can challenge (as the wild card in some rulesets can only be played when you have no other option.). The challenge basically states that you believe the person who just borked you has other cards they could have played INSTEAD of the Wild/+4. It shows their hand because it's displaying that they did or did not have the cards needed to use that wild/+4. Not a thing they're doing, but other interesting rules are the 7/0 switch, which indicates that either the entire table rotates their hand clockwise on a 0, or you must trade hands with somebody on a 7.
@whitetrash8613
@whitetrash8613 3 жыл бұрын
@@danielconnor8516 The thing is, all of those are totally house rules, just like there are in monopoly. They are not invalid and personally I agree Lol I myself play without the challenges, If the +4 is in retaliation, because It's almost like personal defence; so you can stack +2 and +4. The +4 can stack with the +2 normally but for you to stack a +2 over a +4 the colour of your +2 needs to be the same colour that was called for the +4. (For example, if I play a +4 and call blue, if you have a +2 of that colour you can keep the ball rolling)

The game Dos DOES exist, we have it at our house. It has different rules than Uno and goes much faster, mostly because you can play multiple cards at once. It's fun!

I didn't even realize "multiples" was a house rule. I've never played UNO that didn't allow for insane combos. If it's your turn, you can play as many cards in a row as you'd like, as long as you are able.

In our house growing up we played a version of Uno using regular playing cards and we called the game "Blackjack" (no relation to the gambling game called Blackjack) that had pretty much the exact same rules but using normal playing cards, so you had to follow the number or the suit. We also had the rule that you could put multiple of the same number down at once but not the same suit. Playing a queen skipped the next person, playing an 8 reversed the direction, and you had to pick up 2 or 3 when the person before you played a 2 or 3. These also stacked, so you could end up picking up 12 or more cards at once if it landed on you and you couldn't put a card down. Playing a black jack made the next person pick up 5, unless they could cancel it out with a red jack. The ace was a wild card you could put on anything except a 2, a 3 or a black jack, and let you choose the suit going forward. Also, you had to say "last card" when you were on your last card. I've been playing this since I was about 3 years old and it wasn't until I was a teenager that I realised Uno was the same game. I've never in my life played with an actual Uno deck.

My family plays something we call "bastard switchem" which is similar: you can play anything that's the same suit or the same number, you can play an ace at any time and say the new suit you want, pick ups on 2 and 3 and you can stack a 2 on a 2 and a 3 on a 3 to pass on the pick up, and a jack lets you play a second card of the same suit, but if you play a jack without a second one you have to pick up one, the same as you would if you couldn't play a card at any other time. And you need to say last card, obviously. But you can't go out on a jack or an ace.
@saxrendell
@saxrendell 3 жыл бұрын
@@sarasewsstuff ah interesting that you couldnt go out on a jack or an ace in your version, as it was a common tactic for us to hold onto an ace or two so that when you came to your last card you were far more likely to be able to play it. And if you were able to play two cards at once for your last turn it negated having to say last card or get caught out
