SG, well Jim and Matt I've seen body off resto work but this is the 1st body off oil change I've seen! You guys are a hoot! My dad had a friend who had 7 Model A's and always kept two of them in solid running condition as daily drivers well into the 1970s! My former neighbor (I moved) Pete T still has a '28 roadster with rumble seat and double fender wells for spare tires that he got in high school before he graduated in 1963! In the meantime he's picked up four more A's. The A is one of my all-time favs as well. Great Video!!

Back when I road raced motorcycles on the track, I started at Brainerd, Minnesota, went to Daytona, Florida for the 200 against Wes Cooley ...yes the 80’s. You kids won’t remember. Finished up in Dallas, TX fixing 737 flame out engines at high altitudes with my motorcycle teammate. Our race team went bankrupt. Scooter Enterprises. We still beat Stihl chainsaws with our Husqvarnas. We spent time in the mobile home porting with a pair of Dremel tools. Packed the distribution van (our race van to the end of our run) and we sold saws in Nort Minnesota and Wisconsin. Good times. No Country for Old men 🎅🏻

I've never owned, worked on or driven a car older than late 1950's. But I love anything old. I daily drive some 70's-80's chryslers. Someday I really want to move into this sorta stuff. I always had this thought that maybe I could just design and build my own version of a car about like a model A. I figure you could use a frame from like an s-10 or older Dakota or something. Then go from there. Seems like it wouldn't be impossible. And it would be really fun working all the kinks out of the thing.

Worth noting is the original coil still on the firewall. You also have the seven tooth steering box, not as good as the two tooth, but kind of a rarity on the 1930 models. I think they used them up into May of '30. This stuff still being there attests to the cars untouched originality.

You two men are the vision of men from yesteryear and its many facets for our modern day garage. I know for a fact that if it were possible to do right now for me, I would be right at home doing this kind of work and enjoying every minute of it. I got hurt right in my prime of life and that is some of the reason I'm so bitter. Your putting on a great video here depicting things as they were done in the day of milk in a container/milk jug you put back in the basket when empty and that milk man would bring along with milk, someones baked goods past from their home. Also among this commodity was some meats if requested in the note left for the milkman days prior to this delivery. Early time "Amazon" if you can forgive me of plagiarism. Each and every business was run on a honesty system and so money would be found in the note left in the basket. I wish that I could do better of this vision you woke up in me. I grew up with this system. Jails were a place usually found in a larger town collective of people who were merchants and did nothing that merchants do today. I am so short on vocabulary or vernacular skills so I am butchering my description of those days and times. Many folks were in morning for those stables that shawed the horse or fixed a harness. They adapted to a garage over time as there were less and less people that would travel by horseback. You could not just park the horse till you needed to go home again That in fact was when stores were transforming from home in back and business up front. The biggest businesses were the saloons with working girls upstairs... those girls were of high respected professions and men treated those ladies very well. I remember that some towns vying for size or cattlemen/miners had some of the local married women. I remember a argument between some men complaining about women raising the price of their wares to a whole five dollars an guys were saying; We only earn three dollars a day! that was the late thirties town talk and so me born in the late forties had heard this in a real small town that barely stayed in business. Those people were still making yesteryear wages. I happen to know this stuff first hand as my mom was a "working single woman" and so I had some particular jobs not even heard of today. My mother past away when I was eight years of age, those fine folks just toted me down to a place now known as a orphanage to get the brat off of the street... god only knew who my dad was but she did so I found my way from Johnson city N. Carolina to a small town called Rockport Washington. That man carried guilt and took me in but in a capacity of obligation so he had a new rented mule. Dang it, I fell off of topic, the garage that your operating in. So if this building is old enough, then it was built onto different stages as it went from stable to a full time shop and possible dealership of some make of car. Old enough, it was not a Ford, Chevy, many of different makes like Oldsmobile, Hudson, Pontiac, just as well name most all cars then because in my time, there was already the start of a big four car makers. So now we think of those many models of cars as part of ford or chevy.... chrysler to just name a few. I now see that I am talking to the choir as you know this already. I shall quit at this point to say thank you for waking my many memories of the past times

I love Model A's; I like Hot Rodded better than the original. Why, you may ask? I like that you can drive them at highway speeds, 80, 90 or faster mph. I have a cousin who built one. He had a 351 Ford with a C4 transmission, and mustang II front end. I am not sure of the rear end, but it was a nice car. Great video as always. Cheers from KCMO. Now that you've gone to all the trouble of removing that body, why not just save time and drop it on a modern s10 chassis? Everyone knows that you can't drive a car with mechanical brakes, straight axle and bias plies. Somewhere in the family photo album there's a picture of my great grandfather and his '28 Tudor in a similar state of dismemberment, he didn't look too pleased about the situation, he should have just brought it to Strong's for service!

Back in the day when these cars were new, my dad was driving his boss's Oakland and a guy and gal were in front of him in a new Model A. The guy kept slowing down, making my dad pass. The guy would then speed up and pass my dad to repeat the process again. After a couple go arounds, dad got pissed and jammed the Oakland into 2nd and floored it, ramming the Model A in the trunk rack (the Oakland had a pipe for a bumper so no damage there). They both pulled over and the guy got out and looked at his car, didn't say anything because dad was going to clean his clock. Road rage nothing new.
