The reason that you kept getting Octavian on mystery islands is that the game rolls for villager species first. Even though there's only 3 octopi, you're just as likely to get one of those 3 as you are to get one of the 29 cats. And since there's only 3, you're gonna see the same one a lot. And if you did this while you had Marina in your town, that reduces the number of octopi you can find to 2, so if you get an island with an octopus it's a 50-50 chance to be Octavian. Edit: Just got to the end, and if you had both Zucker and Marina in your town when you went island hopping, that brings you up to a 1 in 35 chance of getting ONLY Octavian, since he would be the only octupus available.

jade The thing is, if there is a very specific reason that a villager is hated, such as Diva's creepy eyes and face, then that villager will also be loved for the same reason. Villagers with general ugliness tend to be a lot less popular than villagers with specific unappealing traits. Personally, I'm a big fan of Diva. She certainly cracks my top 10 sisterly villagers. If she was snooty, I would definitely like her a lot less. Sisterly villagers, for the most part, are actually meant to be ugly. They're not meant to be focused too much on appearance, because they're more tomboyish. A lot of people, such as myself, absolutely love that trait about sisterly villagers, which is why sisterly villagers don't tend to be super popular, but there are also very few that recieve excessive amounts of hate. You may recognize that the designs of sisterly villagers tend to be more polarized than generally disliked, as one person will love a villager while another will hate them for that exact reason.

So true story, I wanted Lucky on my island really bad in new horizons, so I did the mystery island tours expecting it to take at least a couple of hours and a whole bunch of tickets. I woke up early just to make sure I got the most amount of time possible. It took me a total of 5 tickets and about 30 minutes to find him, and if that's not the most fitting thing ever, then I don't know what is.
