I've thought about this before and here are my main three big Amalgam character pitches. Centurion Gold: Michael Stark was a wealthy inventor from the 25th century and CEO of Gold Stark INC. (a combination of Stark Industries and Goldstar Incorporated) but when it's found out he's secretly dealing weapons under the table Stark is disgraced and his company falls to shambles. Using an armor he invented (with some stolen ideas admittedly used in the design) this Iron Man/Booster Gold combination goes back in time to rebuild his company and regain fame as Centurion Gold (the name being a combination of Iron Man's Silver Centurion and the Booster Gold name) the Greatest Avenger You've Never Heard of. His supporting characters are Trixie Potts (a combination of Trixie Collins aka Goldstar and Pepper Potts aka Rescue who were both assistants to the hero), Dirk Hogan (a combination of Dirk Davis and Happy Hogan) and John Rhodes (I know it's odd for a Green Lantern to be his supporting character but it's a combination of John Stewart and James Rhodes. Bare with me and you'll see why he's here and not mixed with anyone else) His villains are mash-ups of Mandarin and Director Death, Iron Monger and Black Bettle (who he stole armor designs from) and many more. Wonder Warrior: Contrary to what the name may have to believe this combination is of Guy Gardner, the Green Lantern known as Warrior and Simon Willians, the actor called Wonder Man. I'm thinking Guy Williams is a failed actor who specializes in cop dramas. Suddenly though an alien shows up revealing Guy is half alien and unlocking his dormant powers. His new powers give him control over iconic energy allowing him to do anything Wonder Man and Warrior could. As the Wonder Warrior, he tries to regain fame, pissing people off along the way due to his snobbish attitude. Also, I know odd again a Green Lantern is mixed with Wonder Man but I'll reveal what happened to the other GLs next. Ghost Lantern: Long ago a cowboy who gets paid to protect cargo trains was killed in the line of duty. A combination of the Guardians and Mephisto granted the cowboy, named Alan Carter (combination of Alan Scott and Carter Slade) a new chance at life. He accepts and becomes the very first Ghost Lantern. A man who carried the spirit of vengeance in a power ring which activates whenever he encounters sinners. Long after the mantle is passed to Hal Jonathan (Hal Jordan mixed with Johnny Blaze) who did stunts in an air show until he crashes nearly dying and making the same deal. Next is Danny Kyle (Danny Ketch mixed with Kyle Rayner) who is given the ring after Hal goes crazy and tries to destroy both Earth and Hell. Next is Simon Reyes (Simon Baz combined with Robbie Reyes) a car thief who was killed by the police and made the deal. Last is Alejandra Cruz (Alejandra Jones and Jessica Cruz) an anxiety sufferer who is inducted into the corps and used to hunt the previous Ghost Lanterns who betrayed their master until she follows in their footsteps becoming a hero as well. There, that explains where all the other Green Lanterns are. Guy and John were left over and didn't mix well with any Ghost Riders but Guy has a lot in common with Wonder Man and John has a lot in common with War Machine. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my picks. Especially Centurion Gold since I've thought long and hard on that one.

Dude, I've been thinking that Spider-Man and Flash link up really well for a while. Even their villains link up; they each have three branches of arch-nemesis (nemesises? nemesees?). You've got the lower-tier one that assembles a team of bank-robber level villains (Doc Ock & The Sinister Six, Captain Cold & The Rogues), the one that's basically got the exact costume as the hero just with a color swap, has an origin connecting him to the hero, knows the hero's secret identity, and has a deep seeded hatred for the hero (Professor Zoom & Venom), and...ok, Green Goblin and Gorilla Grodd don't have much in common, but it's a pretty neat coincidence that they both have alliterative G names.

If you take the ultimate version of how spiderman got his powers you can have the accident happen at Oz Corp and Norman trying to replicate the incident the incident that gave spiderflash his powers with the Oz drug, his dna and the dna of a gorilla from gorilla city who's mind wavelength closely matches what gives spiderflash his speed. But it went horribly wrong, instead of giving Norman spiderflash powers it turns him it to a monstrous gorilla with green goblinish skin that has the power to control people minds and shoot fire. In his first appearance he would no control over this transformation and keep saying grodd because that was the name of the gorilla the who dna Norman use, and people would name him grodd goblin or goblin grodd.

Back when Amalgam came out, Wizard magazine had a contest to draw and submit your own Amalgam character choices. I submitted: Super Surfer - Superman/Silver Surfer - Galactus comes to Krypton to feed, and Kal El sacrifices himself to save his people. Becoming the herald to Galactus, the Super Surfer finds worlds for his master to feed upon, until he arrives on Earth where he meets Karen Lane. There he takes his stand against his master alongside the Avenging League, to protect the woman he loves and the planet he'll come to think of as home. Batdevil - Batman/Daredevil - Born blind, Matthew Wayne's parents are killed while enjoying date night. Matt uses his family fortune to train under martial arts masters and develop tech to enhance his sense of hearing to function as sonar. Hard hitting billionaire businessman by day,...vigilante savior by night. Weapon Azrael - Wolverine/Azrael - Weapon X project, believing itself to be a holy entity, mixes human DNA with animal creates a feral avenger to protect it from rival orders, lacing the newly created man-beast with adamantium skeleton and claws. However, refusing to be the pawn of Weapon X, he rebels, leaves, and searches out his own destiny. Green Behemoth - Green Lantern/Hulk - Hal Banner happens across a crashed alien ship leaking radiation from is fuel cell. The radiation begins to change his body into a green raging monster. however when the dead pilot's ring leaves his hand and lands on Hal's finger, he regains his thinking ability, and wields the ring that gives him nearly limitless power.

Lots of room for dispute here but comics historians generally seem to agree that The Golden Age Blue Beetle was probably created by Will Eisner and Charles Nicholas Wojtkoski, aka Chuck Cuidera for MYSTERY MEN #1 (1939). In 1964 writer Joe Gill and artist Tony Tallarico revived the Blue Beetle for Charlton in BLUE BEETLE #1; this was a Silver Age Flash-type revival~ His real name was kept but Dan Garrett was an archaeologist instead of a policeman. Ditko revised the character as Ted Cord in CAPTAIN ATOM #83 (1966). Cord was a student of Garrett's, so he was more of a legacy character than a new creation. Spider-man was probably created by Jack Kirby then given to Ditko who made changes that Stan Lee wanted. But, although the matter of creators is muddled, both Spider-man and the Blue Beetle were made famous by Steve Ditko.

If DC and Marvel could play nice long enough to make serious bank, and pretending I trusted the companies to find quality talent for the books, an Amalgam book that was just a collection of sometimes unrelated stories would be nice. I actually liked the original "Speed Demon" concept, and I remember dabbling with it back in high school. I ended up coming up with the same conclusion as you, only I combined Etrigan with Zatharos, whom "Johnny Allen" must contend with in order to be a hero, despite his demonic powers. "Danny West" would be the second Speed Demon (And, incorporating modern continuity, I suppose Bart Reyes would be the third). Out of this, what I was most proud of was my ideas for his two main villains. Captain Cold/Hood (Never came up with a name, but merging the two personalities and powers felt like a great fit) and Reverse-Flash with minor Ghost Rider villain Vengeance: Michael Thawne, "Backlash."

So, you left out all the mutants? I agree Wolverine with Batman was dumb, but you didn't give us an alternative for Wolverine? My instinct is to maybe merge him with Cyborg, give him mostly Logan's back story, but instead of bonding him with an adamantium skeleton, his healing factor allowed him to survive Weapon Plus merging him with a motherbox. I've actually drawn some TMNT/X-men amalgam characters and posted them on Deviantart. I wasn't planning on drawing any other TMNT/X-men amalgam characters, I just thought it would be really cool to see Shredder and Silver samurai fused together. Funnily enough, I was thinking about this at work and while I did merge these two due to Dark Claw already existing, I kind of like the thought of it. Red Hood and Deadpool, combined together to make Bloodpool. The way I see it, Jason Wade would be a troubled kid who Dark Claw runs into while returning to his car and decides to take him in as his next Sparrow due to the original one going off to be her own super hero. The difference between her and this new Sparrow is that he is much more vicious, that and he seems way to quippy, not really taking the time to calm down and take the situation seriously so Dark Claw hopes to train him out of these behaviors to make him a more effective crime fighter. This however sets off an unfortunate event when Hyena realizes what Dark Claw is trying to do with his new ward and figures it would be hilarious to turn him into the exact opposite of what Dark Claw wanted for him. So Hyena kidnaps him and takes him to the now abandoned Weapon X facility where he attempts to experiment on him and turn him into a nigh unkillable monster like he is. This however seems to fail so since Hyena isn't getting anywhere with the boy he decides to just brutally attack him, leaving him in a pool of his own blood for Dark Claw to find which he eventually does. Assume the boy is dead due to the state he is in and feeling no heart beat, Dark Claw buries him and mourns his loss. However, Hyena's experiment worked, it just had a delayed reaction so he healed to the best of his abilities within the coffin. Now alive and conscious, he realizes his situation and desperately tries to dig himself out. It takes a very long time for him to do this and the time spent alone, in the dark, barely able to breath and this being shortly after he was kidnapped, tortured and maimed by a villain started to drive him mad. He eventually dug himself out but upon getting a look at himself, he realized his face was disfigured beyond repair, a side effect of his healing factor being late. Thus with his mind fractured and everyone assuming him dead, Jason decided to take on a new life, seeing his moment of being left in a pool of his own blood as a sign of his death as Sparrow so he takes the name Bloodpool in reference to that and becomes a crazy and violent vigilante, even more vicious and annoying than he was as Dark Claw's side kick. Also recently thought of a Cloak and Dagger/Hawk and Dove fusion, Crow and Dove. Either the two of them will be good friends or adopted siblings (with Crow being the adopted one) and while the are close, they are pretty much opposites with Crow coming from a life of poverty where as Dove comes from privilege. Crow is quick to fight, Dove is more pacifistic, Crow is athletically gifted, Dove is a book worm. Eventually however their father would get captured by a group of criminals intent on killing him due to him having many enemies and thus there is a bounty on his head. The two of them attempt to save him but are captured and rather than kill them, they decide to test a new drug they had in store on them since either it'd kill them like it has been doing with everyone else, or if it works, they have proof that it does and begins selling it. The drug would prove to be fatal but rather than die, they are saved by a Lord of Darkness and a Lord of Light who wish to make them their champions, wanting to use them to prove that light and Darkness can work in harmony for the greater good. They accept and are transformed into their super hero forms, Crow's black wings forming around some of the criminals, swallowing them whole and draining them of their life while Dove's angelic white wings shoots out glowing white feathers that impale their victims like daggers and suck the life out of them upon penetration. The two become a duo of crime fighter both due to their roles as avatars of Lords of Darkness and Light and due to their powers easing the burdens of the others as Crow slowly gains an insatiable hunger and rage when away from Dove where as Dove slowly builds up too much light and without Crow she can't safely eliminate it and her light eases his hunger where as her presence eases his rage.

I would have merged Spider-Man with Nightwing, this mostly comes from in MCU movies and how Ironman is training spider man. Plus that means many of Batman’s rogues gallery can combine with spidy’s and they have a lot in common. They’re histories would work really well like Peter Grayson was apart of traveling circus after his parents died he was sent to live with his aunt and uncle in new Gotham. Than it can be similar to Spider-Man’s origin but maybe show how Iron bat influence his life maybe inspire by Anthony Wayne to become a science mager than one day he was bitten by a spider and you know where this goes his Ben dies he tracks down the killer but here it was different Peter was about to kill the man, he was stopped by Iron Bat who reminds him that with great power comes great responsibility. Iron Bat takes him under his wing and he becomes the Iron Spider everything was going well till one day when something happens that gets Iron Bat to kills someone Iron spider is disgusted by this but Iron Bat swore he would never kill again but Iron spider couldn’t take his word a left he moved to new bludhaven and became Night-Spider

I think a big reason why they didn’t merge the most obvious characters together except for a few was because they were too similar, and they wanted to create characters no one could imagine so they looked different and had slightly new origins. I mean what story could you get out of a Man-Thing and Swamp-Thing amalgam? Guy turns into a swamp monster? I admit some of your ideas would work, but I like some of the weirdest amalgams because it’s not something I would have thought of.

I do get the complain about fusions made up by very similar characters, but as long as it makes sense, I think they're choices made for the best (don't get me wrong. I have nothing against fusions made by completely different characters. I just prefer the connections-based ones).

Void The purpose of that line were to fuse characters. Some of those characters had things in common while others didn't. For instance Namor and Aquman fused, while Nick Fury and Bruce Wayne fused. Green Arrow and Hawkeye fused while Flash and Ghost Rider fused.

i've been thinking about this for a few years now and i came up with a sizable list. but mine are based on what i think would make interesting combos, not what goes good together. i'll put as much description as i think is needed. superman+deadpool= wholesome hit man. an alien crash lands on earth and a supersoilder program takes him and trains him to be killer but they also want him to have good american values so they have him watch leave it to beaver and such shows. he adopts the personality of those shows and he eventually escapes to be a hero. but his upbringing clashes with his killer training in hilarious was. batman+karnak= blind spot. wonderwoman+namor flash (barry allen)+mar-vell= shooting star the 4 main green lanterns+fantastic 4 martian man hunter+ ghostrider= alien who made a deal with the devil to revive his race. aquaman+black bolt= seaking captain america+captain atom= american atom thor+the demon= chernabog? who ever is able to pull the sword from the stone is able to bare the curse of the demon ironman+dr. fate= iron fate. he used metal from the helm of nabu to make the first stark reactor. hulk+shazam= ??? to stop from waring, the gods put all of their anger in one man. spiderman+swampthing= greenman wolverine+deathstroke silversurfer+raven dr. strange+green arrow= dr. green carol danvers+wally west= shooting star you took my black panther/hawkman one. scarlet witch+terra= gia wonderman+animalman= redman vison+beatboy= anidroid. the dna of redman is put inside of an android. hawkeye+the question= exclamation. quicksilver+rick flag/steve trever.

Personally, I think Shazam should've been merged with Thor since the original Thor was also a regular human who gained the power of a god after accidentally stumbling into a mysterious cave and being chosen as worthy. Maybe he gets the power by shouting "Thor" or six Norse gods, probably would have to chsnge the acronym to include a 'T'.

Deathclaw (deathstroke/wolverine) : Slade Logan was an operative for the Canadian government. After nearly losing his life and an eye from a failed mission, he was quickly enlisted into the weapon x programme which bonded his skeleton with admantium and gave him claws, but also wiped his memory. He now works as mercenary. Midnite Devil (Doctor midnite/ daredevil) : Charles Murdoch was raised by single father Jack “Midnite” Murdoch , a boxer who wished his son a better life. After his father was killed for not throwing a fight , Charles trained hard to become a Doctor just like his father wanted. One day as a young surgeon Charles was blinded when a grenade went off in front of him caused by gangster, but he found that he could see in the dark. He made special goggles that allowed him to see in the daylight, and decided to use his special power to fight crime. In his civilian identity, he pretends to be a helpless blind man. Grift (gambit/ grifter): Raised by thieves and blessed with telekinetic and explosive abilities, Remy Cole was a master thief and expert conman. Due to a job going wrong which involved the killing of several morlocks by his fellow criminals, Remy turned his back on his criminal ways, donned a mask and become grift. Deadeye (Hawkeye/ deadshot): Floyd Barton was once a criminal being sent down for armed robbery. However, recognising his talent as an excellent marksman , S.H.I.E.L.D. offered him an opportunity, work for them as an operative as a way to redeem himself. Barton agreed and quickly rose though the ranks as one of their top agents, favouring the bow and arrow he was nicknamed Deadeye.

I think these are a couple of cool names for some of your amalgam characters. Star Miracle (Mr. Miracle + star lord), BartaGamma (Hulk + Omac), Scarlet Spider (I know ben Reily is the Scarlet Spider, but they also call the flash the scarlet speedster, so I think it works) (Spider-Man + Flash), Harleypool (Gwenpool + Harley Quinn), Captain Shazam (Captain Marvel + Shazam), Iron Bat (I think Anthony Wayne is a better alias) (Iron Man + Batman), Mr. Crescent (Moon Knight + John Constantine). An idea I had for a fusion of characters was between Silver Surfer and Dr. Manhattan who could possibly use their cosmic powers to start this universe. Another Idea I had was Wonder Man and Green Lantern Kyle Raner.

Here is one idea for a villain: Alexander Osborn. An amalgam of Norman Osborn and Lex Luthor. Here is his backstory. He is the owner of Oscorp, a powerful business conglomerate that he formed with his immense intelligence. Oscorp has a hand in most everything in the city (an amalgamation of New York City and Metropolis) and the presence of superheroes threatens his place in the world (in his mind), so he begins experimenting with Kryptonite. Several of these experiments begin to warp his mind and body, transforming him into "The Goblin" an enemy of immense intellect and strength that could rival the "Superman" and "Spider-Man" characters in this timeline.

Just a question but why not merge certain heroes with certain villains where it makes sense. I've just reached the part where you merge Hulk + OMAC but why not Hulk + Doomsday since they're super similar: one grows stronger with anger and the other grows stronger through conflict. I can't think of a good name for the character. Another suggestion in the same vein I thought up is Capt. America + Deathstroke: The Terminator which makes sense if you consider Deathstrokes anti-hero turn as of late. Call him The Patriot (it's probably taken, idk) and just make him dangerously patriotic. You could style the mask based on Deathstroke's but have a blue half with a star over his eye and a red and white striped half.

Yes, they have some things in common with one another, like being gruff loners and wearing animal themed costumes, but those similarities are mostly surface level similarities. In terms of their personalities and origins, they're basically nothing alike. Batman swore an oath to never kill while Wolverine is all about killing, Batman uses a vast array of gadgets and vehicles to battle evil while Wolverine relies solely on his claws, healing factor and guile. Though there is another DC character who I think is the perfect one to merge with Logan. Want to know who it is?

As a reminder to @Professor Thorgi and to inform those new to the idea of Amalgam Comics, a lot of the canon amalgamations were *more* than two characters. Speed Demon *already* included Etrigan; the reason Flash and Ghost Rider were paired up wasn't just the name, but because both were (at the time) successful legacy characters: Wally West had gone from Kid Flash to *the* Flash, while Daniel Ketch was Ghost Rider and Johnny Blaze was just Johnny Blaze... and older characters had been retconned as being part of the same elgacy.

Why not Vision and Red Tornado? Other than that, I think these match-ups work quite well. And for Wonder Thor (That's the best I got) You could merge the Amazons and Valkyries.

Marvel vs DC (or DC vs Marvel) was what got me into comics, and I wouldn’t mind seeing it come back... but done well. Love the ideas here, is there going to be another?

I like your combos, neat vid. I could probably spend all day coming up with ones...now I see Wolverine doesn’t really have a match any more. I can’t think of one at the moment, but I can think of...S-23 (X-23 + Superboy), a clone who used the DNA of two previous experiments, Super Soldier and (whoever Wolverine is), Deadbug (Deadpool + Ambush Bug), Bain Marco AKA the Behemoth (Juggernaut + Bane), Detective Duck (Howard the Duck + Detective Chimp), Super Flight (Alpha Flight + the original SuperFriends made for the show, including Northstar & Aurora + the Wonder Twins), Dr. Octorilla (Doc Ock + Grodd)...this is pretty much a random grab bag...
