Wow this is the first time i saw this video, and i kept thinking that some of the stores you wanted to use were if not on their way out, teetering to being on their way out. Then I saw this was done in 2019. Boy have things changed. Bed Bath and Beyond was the one that really stands out. I like their stores, wish we had one closer but it seems like that may never happen with so many places closing up, then again on the flipside of the coin, that could open up pre built space they could move into. The mall in our city has a empty sears that will probably be subdivided like our former Kmart. Does anyone remember a mall with a interior or connected Kmart. Kmart was our go to place in the 80/90s and a few miles from where we lived there was a Kmart inside the mall. If I remember correctly you came out of the Kmart and you could either make a right and they had a actual sit down restaurant, go left and go into the mall, or go straight through a tiny bit of the mall and go to the exits to the parking lot. Going there felt strange but good that when you left the Kmart doors, you were still inside. They eventually moved a few miles away into a former Bradlees location, and no longer had the interior connections. The old Kmart was taken down to the steel as was the rest of the mall and it became a Caldor with a strip mall attached to it, but as a outside shopping center.

Regency Mall had a Chick Fil A, Orange Julius and a few other food spots. A drive in movie would be cool. Add a Einstein Bros. Bagel Put a Mini golf course. Augusta is known for its golf and Putt Putt used to be up the road.

speaking of Ikea, when Potomac Mills Mall opened in 1985 in Woodbridge, VA it brought the first Ikea to USA and Virginia. The Ikea is no longer in the mall, but in it's own building in front of the mall

Im from georgia and ive been in the regency mall several times as a kid. I miss the times there and had great memories of it. It is a shane it had to shut down but i know personally 1 thing was because of the unsafe neighborhood around it. When i was a preteen u could walk around the mall freely while ur parents shoped and got a little freedom.....but later it got so dangerous u had to stay with ur parents cause everyone was scared of the gang related activities there. It was sad to see it go but to b honest as a child i had already prefered the augusta mall more cause i got my freedom back lol

The Landmark Mall in Alexandria, VA closed 2 years ago, with the Sears still open. The owners plan to demolish it and built an outside mall in its place

No. Let's destroy it, buy out the neighborhood behind it and build something we actually need. A water park, theme park, or a damn ra e track like Augusta had in the 60s.

It would be a mistake to rebuild there. It's now in a bad area and everyone knows it. It's not like it was during the 80s and late 90s.

Okay this had me confused for a hot minute. There is a regency mall here in Richmond, Va and they just went through with a 30 million renovation. They are turning the macys into a jumpology. The sears into a movie theater. New smaller stores around the edge. Panera, Bettermed, Mod Pizza, Chipolte. That and adding a bunch or brownstone style apartments on the property

@@ThePodCastDojo I better get some video before they close it full for renovations. I already found a bunch of neat print ads and photos about it. the RVA regency was the largest indoor mall on the east coast for a time. I never realized how dead most malls are until I went to Tysons Corner by DC its just insane how many people are there.
