That was such an authentic, strong reaction to seeing that Ganondorf was actually passing the time playing the organ that was making the music in his tower, so based.

1:01:10 "I love how all of our sages are connected to us personally, and then there's the Old Man." From what I've read, like the other Sages the Old Man (Rauru) actually IS connected to you personally. He's the Owl (Kaepora Gaebora) in Human form. You know, the Owl who's been helping you ever since the beginning of the game from when you first left the Kokiri Forest.

it's actually stated by a Gossip Stone in-game that Kaepora Gaepora is a reincarnation of an ancient sage. In addition, an NPC with a very similar name in another game (to avoid major spoilers on this channel) also has very similar features as Rauru, thus the heavy implications are there, practically confirming it.

@@spartist427 It's probably an ancestor of Rauru. I don't believe Rauru from OoT is that ancient. Just a bit of full-circling on things you didn't complete : - There were ice arrows as well, which were the treasure of the Gerudo colosseum - Exploring outside of the spirit temple would have granted you the third magical power, Nayru's love - Completing the mask trading quest lets you use the mask of truth, which lets you speak to the gossip stones (all those one eyed statues that tell you the time when you smack them). Each stone actually had unique dialogue about either lore or a gameplay tip ! Overall though you did a good job at exploring. Those games are very difficult to 100% without a guide, especially the old ones. Excited for what you will think about Majora's Mask, cause that game is definitely the zelda game of all time

Man, the ending always gets me. The story is seemingly so basic but full of subtext. Maybe because I played it as a child but I really feel Link’s loss of his childhood. He got sent back in time but nothing will ever be the same for him. He now knows his home was not really his home, he’s not a Kokiri. His only friend Saria is gone and at the end there, with their mission accomplished, even Navi leaves him. He’s the selfless hero that sacrifices himself for the greater good. Majora’s Mask continues from there so I’m excited to see you continue his journey. PS. Ive seen some comments asking to play Twilight Princess next but I really do think playing them in order is the best idea. All the games are connected in interesting ways anyways and are considered the best by different sections of the fan base.

Excellent playthrough, easily the best blind Oot series I've seen. This is the game that causes the infamous timeline split. The future you left behind also continues in its own parallel universe (without you) along with the past you entered. Different games take place in different timelines. Majora's mask is a direct sequel yes. Wind Waker follows up on the future adult timeline whereas Majora's mask and eventually Twilight Princess follow up on the past child timeline.
@Lexyvil
@Lexyvil 4 ай бұрын
I like to think that the timeline thing is not a thing at all, given that at the time they made this game, it was independent from all the other Zelda games prior, and the overarching timelines were only some fans years later trying to connect all the games as if they all shared the same world, instead of assuming that almost each game had a unique world with a different but similar Legend being told. I'm sure it was those particular fans and their questions about that subject that lead Nintendo to finally make a timeline via 2011's Hyrule Historia to try to answer to them, as they probably wouldn't otherwise. It's best to assume if a Zelda game is either a sequel (or prequel) to another if and only if it implied within the game itself, or if they happen to show visual queues. Nintendo seems to be playing more with that idea now though with the more recent Zelda games, I think it started with Skyward Sword (also released in 2011) since they decided to go with reincarnations of Zelda, Link and Ganon, instead of independent reiterations.

Playing the ocarina to dispel the barriers *would* have been a great idea. Once again, I've been playing this game for 25 years and you showed me something I'd never seen/done before. I had no idea you could stun Ganon with the light arrows, I usually just roll between his legs to hit the tail. (Also, side-note, he didn't randomly drop the bombs and magic refills. He destroyed pillars/blocs on the arena, and those dropped the items.) Some of the questions you have about the timeline(s) will be answered in some of the later games. The way I've always seen it, the reason Zelda sends Link back in time is because, while Link might look like an adult, his spirit was asleep during these seven years. In his mind he's still a child. So she's giving him a chance to grow up properly, as well as closing the Door of Time. I've loved this playthrough so much! Enjoy your well-deserved break.

That was an awesome watch ❤ ignore the jerks giving you crap for not knowing things instantly, that's the fun of blind plays. I played this back in the day and you even showed me new things i never knew! And I'm so glad you're keeping on with the Zelda games, our game tastes don't over lap too much, not a bad thing just a fact lol, so I'm thrilled I get to watch another series 😊

What a truly great LP! It's rare to see someone tackle OoT blind, rarer still someone who hasn't played any of the older Zelda games. Having played the older 2D Zeldas I already approached my very first OoT playthrough differently than you, simply because of general knowledge about using items like bombs and boomerangs and how puzzles tend to work. I'm definitely here for any future Zelda games, this was fun!

You did it! You finished your first Zelda game! I’ve had such an amazing time following along on this journey, it’s been great from start to finish. It’s been incredible to watch how this game has both met and subverted your expectations, and to watch someone trying to figure out so many elements and secrets for the first time! I’m so, so glad that you’ve enjoyed it. I’m excited to see you experience Majora’s Mask. I think Twilight Princess and Link’s Awakening (the Switch has a great remake that looks amazing) are both great options if you want more in the future. I hope you do go and look up what the deal is with all those stones you kept finding that told the time….

Btw, the Forest Tempel was originally supposed to be the "Wind Tempel" of which Saria wasn't supposed to be the Sage. The remnants of this you can still see in the second room of the Forest seal with all the wind fans and during the Biggoron fetch quest. The Kokiri girl that takes the Medicine off of you and gives you the saw was supposed to be the Wind Sage.

Man, such an amazing, iconic game! I've played it so many times over the years since it came out, and I don't remember much of my first playthrough, but I remember the sheer terror I felt when I thought I had beaten the game and Ganondorf transformed into Ganon. I guess I was ten or eleven? I was shaking and my hands were covered in sweat. It might just be one of my favourite moments in my 30+ years of gaming. Thank you so much, Mapo, for making me relive this game in what is clearly the best blind playthrough of Ocarina of Time that I've seen. I am now so damn HYPED for you to play Majora's Mask, which - despite what I said above - remains my favourite in the entire series.

The fact that it plays your original song with both the ocarina, the "sung" version and a flute I guess? is so heartwarming and the fact that it came off as horrifying and haunted beacuse of the rushed nature of the notes is absolutely hilarious, I love it

The implication for the end is that now that you know the future, you can go back to Zelda and tell her about Ganondorf's plan, since at that point in time Ganondorf is still swearing fealty to the king to play the long con for his plans. With the info Zelda then presents to the king, Ganondorf is imprisoned before he has a chance to do anything, and since Link closed the Door of Time behind him, there's no risk of the Sacred Realm being breached anymore. Happy end.

I personally would love to see more zelda on this channel and it seems to do well as far as view count goes. I also would love to see you try to piece together the weird convoluted Zelda timeline. There is a canonical timeline, and it is very obtuse, it is perfect for a keen astute gamer such as yourself to try to unravel. Hope to see you in Majora's Mask in the near future!

I’ve thoroughly loved watching this series from beginning to end and am so glad I found your channel. I subscribed from episode 1 and was not disappointed at any one point. Even watching your witch boss struggles was fun lol - unfortunately fighting that boss without lock on is way better. Seeing this whole playthrough thru the eyes of someone experiencing it for the very first time brought me so much joy and it was as if I was there experiencing the same way too. This is something I didn’t know I needed, thank you Mapo Excited for Majora’s Mask and the rest of the Zelda series 🥰🤩

It´s genuinely enjoyable to see people who try for the VERY first time without full context a Zelda game, especially Ocarina of time. In my opinion this game DO age well, and as for the time it was created it was made with such dedication and love for a franchise that opens so many doors in the future which we are now. And yeah, something special about this game is that it creates different timeline branches with the events that occurs in the present and the future, giving place to the other Zelda games.
