Let's Sew the Park Mini Backpack-Version 2 by Rosie & David Patterns

This is a step-by-step video tutorial to construct the The Park Mini Backpack. The backpack is the perfect size for taking along on a day trip where you need to keep your hands free while carrying the necessary items needed to make your day enjoyable! It has a generous front zipper pocket with a more secure zipper pocket in the back. The main zipper compartment opens to a generous size interior with a slip pocket. Cutting charts are provided to make the backpack in two versions. Version 1 is made with 100% Cotton Quilting Fabric making it domestic sewing machine friendly while Version 2 is made form 100% Cotton Quilting Fabric and Vinyl which is better suited for heavier duty sewing machines.
The Backpack Measures Approximately: 8.5" Wide x 10" High x 4" Deep.

I have wanted to make a backpack for awhile and when I saw this video I knew I had to have it. My husband is in a wheelchair now when he goes anywhere. I have to push it so I needed to be hands free. I loved this video. So many steps. Can the steps be reduced if we use double sided prequilted fabric and serger the liner instead of a binding? Might be a good idea for another video. Thanks for sharing your video

Gusset prep question. I'm rather confused. You instruct to cut 1/8" from the short ends of the foam pieces, and then state there will be a 1/4" shortage on both sides. But if I trim 1/8" from both sides, I've only trimmed a total of 1/4" and not 1/2" needed to have a 1/4" shortage. Should I trim 1/4" instead of 1/8"?

Cut 1/4” from each end of the foam. The written instructions for the foam preparation are in the pdf pattern.

Did you replace the Sailrite machine with the Juki? Curious which one you prefer for bagmaking

No I did not. I actually purchased Juki 1541s a few years before the Sailrite. I just never used the Juki in videos before. They are both good machines.

Binding question: is the fabric cut on the bias for bias binding or is it (as it appears) to be cut on the straight of grain for binding?
