Except it *is* kind of true (also lmao I'm sorry I wrote like three paragraphs for a topic that didn't call for it). Not in the sense that we're actually rid of these movies. By all indications, Disney will continue cranking these out until the heat-death of the universe, because they've boiled the whole process down to a reliable enough formula that it's highly unlikely (or it will take the bottom falling out of Hollywood as a whole) for them to not make money on these. But I think for a lot of people, Endgame acting as the endpoint to almost all of the major plot points for basically all the Marvel movies up to that point provided a viable off-ramp. Like I cannot honestly say I have given a damn about any of these movies since then. And I wasn't like one of the anti-Marvel movie crowd; I *liked* a lot of these. But by the time the credits rolled on Endgame, I was kind of just... exhausted, for lack of a better term? It was so many movies, for so long, all building up to this extravaganza. I was done. That was the emotional release. The end of a decade of build-up. There wasn't any reason for me to keep going. It's not even about the (perfectly legitimate) criticisms you can lob at the whole project, although those are fair and they don't increase my motivation to see the newer Marvel films. It's not even about superhero fatigue (although, again, that's not helping, either). The new movies could be legitimately good movies, genre aside (and maybe some of them are; I don't know, that's kind of the point), but it wouldn't matter because I can't *do it* again. It's too much. I'm burned out. And I know from talking to others that I'm not the only one.

About burritos: So, one time during high school me and my friends were going to spend all weekend playing DnD and doing other assorted stupid things. My friend's parents were gone for the weekend, so it was just us. One of my friends (the rich one) decided that he would subsist off of chalupas the entire weekend. So, we pulled into the Taco Bell drive through and it went something like this: "Welcome to Taco Bell, do you want " (I forget w/e abomination was the special at this time) "?" "No thanks, I would like forty seven chalupas. No lettuce." ". . . seven chalupas?" "No, forty. seven. chalupas. No we aren't high, our friend is just an idiot." "One moment please" What followed was, I'm sure, a frantic conversation with the cook staff, the manager, and the 'your order will take less then 5 minutes sign'. "Ok, the total will be xx" I forget, but it was in the 50-60 dollar range. We then pull up to the window and see the entire crew frantically stuffing chalupas into wrappers. SOBs made it under the time limit, props were due. A $100 bill was exchanged, and we had a good weekend. But yeah, 10 burritos bad. 47 Chalupas (no lettuce) probably worse, health wise.

I felt like maybe it would have been neat if it had been a time loop, where Thanos was sent back to the past but under the impression that he'd win, leading to him in Infinity war seeing himself as 'destiny' and all that, certain that he'll be victorious, which would have at least made him the same PERSON, but even then you'd still have the same issue of this Thanos having no connection to the heroes.

I have the same feelings. Really enjoyed it (even cried), didn't think about it the second i left the theatre, don't care about watching it or talking about it again. If someone asks: "watch it, it's amazing", if no one asks don't even remember about it existence. This happened to me with every other Russo MCU movie. I need someone like you to explain me why that is.

I still don't get why everyone treats Civil War like some amazing political thriller. It's not bad, but the conflict doesn't go much further than "Captain America fights the evil government".

Why? They are still making movies. I thought it was great.
@TheFreakDownStreet5 жыл бұрын
Mordalon I am just tired of the mcu. The super hero genre (especially the mcu) has become stale. I feel like every movie just keeps doing the same damn dance. Then we get a bigger dance when one of the team movies comes out. Sorry if I'm not making much sense, I'm getting literally tired from a long day.
@Mordalon5 жыл бұрын
@@TheFreakDownStreet Who's making you see these movies then? And lots of movies that share genres are going to be similar. What makes the films different and fun is in the details. Watching a Guardians movie is not the same experience as watching Captain America, even if both are big scifi action films.

And I guess spoons make you fat? Just stop watching them.
@TheFreakDownStreet5 жыл бұрын
Mordalon The mcu isn't just similar, they feel interchangeable. All the same rating, all the same tone. They just feel dull. GotG is the only real exception, but that's mostly because of its space opera-ness.

I'm happy. It felt like the closing of a very large book. Like they're saying, if you never want to see another comic book movie again, that's okay. You can outside and play now. (And DC executives are flipping over alllll the tables now in the most epic tantrum ever.)

I went to Del Taco once and tried to order 3 burritos, but accidentally ordered 8. That was the best night of my life. I was burrito rich.

I did this at my school food place thing but it was that I accidentally ordered 89 hashbrowns even though I actually wrote "&a hashbrown" and it didn't even look particularly close, but they only made me 30 hashbrowns (and they were really angry like "here's 30 we're not making you 89 hashbrowns", and I just played it off like "oh sorry" instead of saying I only wanted one). But still a lot. I was a god.

But Thanos already saw the consequences of what he did... through Nebula's memory scans... or whatever. And even if Scarlet Witch did make him experience all those events mentally & personally to the point of possible remorse... I would argue that Thanos has consistently been portrayed as a character who is so driven by ego that he'd find some way to justify all the horrible stuff he did one way or another.

9:08 Yeah, right..aside from Joss Whedon _nobody_ knows how to use Scarlet Witch properly. Say what you want about him, but Whedon's Scarlet Witch (and Vision) felt like a proper character. At least power-wise.

Scarlet Witch showing Thanos all the consequences of his actions followed by him doing his genocidal sadboy routine and saying that it was still worth the cost would have been a really cool moment and also definitely a spoiler for Avengers: Endgame

Plus he probably saw most of Nebula's memories, so he has the knowledge of what happened in their timeline. And since she never actually met Scarlet Witch, he doesn't know who she is.

It about a year later but I just noticed at 1:10 he's still holding a burrito. This man just walking through the mall filming himself holding a half-eaten burrito and this is one of the funnier things I've caught lately.

Endgame only works as a film if you are an obsessive fanboy/girl/whatever and are able to view each movie as an episode instead of an actual movie, and thus treat this movie as a series finale where you recognize literally every single beat and reference the story is trying to make. For those who aren't any of that, watching the movie is likely to feel average and confusing, but you ended up watching it anyway because everything in our culture convinced you to see it. Basically the epitome of someone really wanting to tell you a joke you won't understand and then their response is "well you had to be there". And that's how Marvel managed to get butts in seats.

Hey 1000th comment! I completely agree with the Scarlet Witch "showing" Thanos what he did being a cool idea. It's kind of like at the final battle in The Crow. "I have something to give you, I don't want it anymore... Thirty hours of pain, all at once, all for you!"
