BFV did suppressors PERFECTLY. They lowered the audio of the gun (duh) but the audio without a suppressor was so meaty and well designed that it made a tangible difference. And then the added utility was that the enemy would no longer get directional damage indicators when you use a suppressed weapon. That was such a great trade-off IMO and it made the suppressors really useful while not making them a necessity

Same for BF1 man... The Silenced 1911 is an amazing stealth tool. Silencers perform the same function, with other stealth perks on the sniping classes it makes you feel like you can do Gun-Foo.

Also maps are too big, increasing map sizes basically meant replacing what would’ve been more areas of map to just giant open spaces that vehicle players can role you on, the fights you do have against other infantry on these open spaces which are the majority of the map are just the most unmemorable engagements you’ll ever have. If you want to enjoy yourself as infantry in some of the maps you just have to stay in a few certain areas the entire game.

I started playing bf 1942 when i was 16 years old in 2002, i loved the feeling, music, voices and the atmoshphere that gave me. Bf 1-2-3-4 were great too. But i didn't feel any of these things when i started playing bf V and bf 2042, i think they lost the magic, which is very sad...

Unfortunately, many aspects of this game are not really fixable. Bugs can be fixed just fine, but there are some core issues that can’t be. Examples include: Empty Maps - lots of running for little reward (basically maps are too big) Specialists - They’re worse than classes (opinionated, but most seem to agree) Destruction - barely any destruction (they could maybe fix this, but it’d be hard) Gunplay - kinda sucks (again, slim chance, but it could be fixed) Atmosphere - Not good (doesn’t feel like a real war, the specialist voice lines definitely don’t help.) The past 2 games had an amazing atmosphere, how’d they mess that up? The biggest drawbacks are the 2 most unfixable things, the maps and the specialists (for me). The only way to fix the maps is to add new ones, and they spent so much time working on and hyping up the specialists that there’s no way they can go back now. I’m sure the next game will even be advertised like “a return to the classic experience fans love”. Specialists were just a cash grab as a way for Dice and EA to make more money.

It's less than half a game. The development needed to put it back on track would require more than twice the work than they put into making the game already. So it's never going to happen because after games are released, studios move on to the next project with a small team left behind to support the game. So all games are working with a skeleton crew of developers after release, with no way to suddenly get full development going again, because that costs tens of millions of dollars. They'll patch up what they can, but the game will ultimately be compromised no matter what. Specialists won't go away. Destruction won't be added. Empty maps would be impossible to address, without effectively limiting the play area. Part of the reason for large play areas is as a buffer zone for vehicle battle and to allow for smaller isolated engagements, where 2 small groups can battle it out and one gets to push forward without getting mowed down every time as soon as the fight is over. So even if they limited play areas, other stuff would go out of balance to the point where it's just a mosh pit of spawn die respawn. No one signed up for an early access game that might be OK a year down the line. It's clear the developers lied to the publishers about the readiness of the game, and that a lack of a direction / vision was present during development. Considering it doesn't have a campaign and is purely multiplayer, gives them even less of an excuse because it's infinitely cheaper to develop. Making this game should have been easy mode. It's a case where they could have just reskinned BF3 / BF4 and people would have been happier.

ALL games that EA give to us comes with many odd problems, and what is worse, in games such as FIFA that they just sell as a new game (that actually is not) they came with the same problem and bugs. I agreed in many aspects, but when its about atmosphere, bfv had a bad one IMO. the clothes, voice lines, people just surfing all the time sucks. Thats why when the expansion iwo jima appear was the best time to bfv... then they clusterfuck the TTK and kill the game

Generic game dev here: no amount of testing can simulate the actual load on servers from a game like this, or what weird and wonderful things occur when all the switches are flipped on. I work on small scale games, and quite frankly the fact that games with this level of multiplayer gameplay can launch in a state as 'good' as this genuinely amazes me.

That clip though with the guy pumping bullets with the pp-29 into the other guy had nothing to do with bloom btw, you can clearly see the bullets are hitting due to the blood splatter. That was either a hitreg issue or a connection issue, seeing as the pp-29 is actually the only gun in the game without any bloom. That of course doesn’t negate your point, I just wanted to point it out.

This has existed in all Battlefield games but has been either bugged or turned to the extreme in 2042, especially for the assault rifles. Result: hitting anything at range with an assault rifle is now really difficult.

One of the worst things for me is the audio balancing, and I'm glad you brought that up. I'm a soundwhore, I have been since probably the BF4 days. The amount of times I've heard footsteps and whipped around only to put 5 bullets into a teammate before I realize it's not an enemy is insane. This is made even worse by the difficulties in visually telling the difference between enemies and teammates. The number of times an enemy has made absolutely no noise coming up a ladder or zipline, and destroyed me because of it is ridiculous. It's one of my biggest non-bug related complaints but not many people seem to bring it up.

I really have to agree with the footsteps. In bf5 yeah the footsteps were good, they were balanced. 2042 footsteps suck so much, you hear so many different footsteps and you don't know who's who. AND if you're in a building that has a second story (for example) you have no clue where the enemy is

It's like they tried to simplify the process of getting into a match, like in COD. 14:03 Suppressors in general (imo) need to be a little less binary. They're usually a must-have or powerful attachment because you either appear on the map or don't. Ideally they'd drastically reduce the range at which you can be detected, which is a little more true-to-life. As an example it obviously won't hide you if you're firing from the next room but would keep you hidden firing from down the street.

For the appearing on the mini map when shooting, I actually really like the way Battlefront 2 did it. Basically, when you shot your blaster, the general direction of where you would be revealed to enemies, but not the exact location. For example, if someone was shooting at you from your left, a red cone would appear on your mini map showing the direction the shot came from, but not where the actual trooper was. It also would show if the shot was from really far away, really close, or somewhere in between (though not like super far away. Then it just wouldn't show up at all, obviously). I thought this was a pretty good system and was a nice balance between not showing up at all and your exact location appearing. There weren't suppressors in Battlefront 2, but there was a Star Card for the Specialist class that basically acted as a suppressor so you wouldn't show up.

Every single gun has horrible bloom that causes bullets to not come out straight at all. There’s 1 smg that doesn’t have this issue. It makes aiming really bad. No scope zeroing. No thermal optics. The fact that the hovercraft is a light vehicle and cannot be damage by .50cals or miniguns. This game really doesn’t deserve another chance. How are people gonna allow companies to fuck them in the ass like this? As mentioned above, I refunded and so did everybody I know. Really just don’t feel like giving a shit company my money for taking a shit on a plate and calling it a game. the server issues are due to the sheer amount of players. there could be a lack of server optimization, but more likely the sheer number of tasks per second causes server cpus (which are likely extremely beefy already) to throttle. it's unlikely to be fixed as far as i can tell

I work as a software developer not a game developer, but most of the things they probably go through in terms of deadlines with projects I can relate with for the most part. Just because a company says they extend time for developers to create said project doesn't mean a year is enough. Most to all companies that we know care about profit margins, in that case I am assuming the developers who are working on the project probably asked for more time to fine tune certain things within the game without the hiccups of bugs here and there and having to fix them. This in turn probably wouldn't matter to the higher(s) up that want to push the game out as fast as possible to obviously see the numbers roll in. Meaning that a suppose example two years of having a safety net for creating a project being bottled down to a year leaves developers scrambling having to finish something really fast with possibly skipping certain testing of the project due to having to hit the marks and satisfy the higher ups. But that's not always the case, some people leave the company due to bad leadership, bad atmosphere, stress, or better opportunities that can contribute to a project such as Battlefield 2042 being bad or not up to par with peoples standards. You get what you pay for, if you want a good game with less hiccups give developers time to fine tune it and make it to the standard the consumers deserve. Or just create it in a time frame that you want to hit profit margins and have it rolling out when people are playing it and having to fix it on top of all of that. It's the name of the game, people just have to remember that all those apps and games you use and play a team of a few hundred to maybe a thousand developers, designers and so forth contribute to it and sometimes things don't click in initial launch. BUT HOPEFULLY within a six month time frame everything gets fixed and sorted. Is this the best game battlefield has ever released? Probably not, but there is still time to fix it and contribute more. Plus in my opinion this game is WAY BETTER than Call of Duty Vanguard, I don't know why they even created that game besides money lol.

Sorry if this has been answered already. You can change squads while you are spawned on the map if you are downed and waiting for a revive or when you are in the deploy screen. Just go to the squad and players tab after pressing the esc key. Right click on your name and the change squad option will come up, however you don't get to pick the squad it just changes you to a random one or one by yourself.

The fact that you appear on the map by shooting without a suppressor makes sense. The fact that you cancel your reload while vaulting makes sense (could change the animation so your char only uses his feets for low jumps). I don't know man. An issue I have come across which is CRUCIAL in terms of playing the game is the fact that if you change your crouch and melee button/stick (Xbox-Right stick, B) and try to use the PLUS system to change your magazine (B), it glitches and you bring out your melee weapon and you CANNOT change your ammo.... ffs....

TL;DR coding hard; take much time. Not enough server. What can you do? Wait and report bugs. As someone who's worked in game development the problems many people are seeing with Battlefield 2042 stem from hardware optimization, server timing/distribution, and cross platform support. What does that mean? 1. Hardware optimization: The team of developers not only have to make a cool game that runs well on your PC but also on four different game consoles that have proprietary software and hardware. This task is not always straightforward, as the standard way of packaging and executing the code for a console may not be the most efficient way and adjustments have to be made. If the game isn't well optimized for it's hardware the player might experience frame dropping, texture pop in, and even crashing. 2. Server timing/distribution: The developers have to make sure the user inputs are calculated at the lowest latency possible so that each player perceives their actions registering with another player who may be a significant distance from them. If the timing isn't calculated correctly the players will experience packet loss, action delay and rubber banding. Better timing can be achieved through higher average server latency or better server distribution. Server distribution is the quantity of servers in a given area compared to the total number of players in that area. The goal is for the player to send their data to the nearest server for the least latency. The problem is the nearest server may not be hosting a game within the players parameters, it may be at capacity or the cross platform settings are different. 3. Cross platform support: Each platform has to send the same type of data so the servers can compute it correctly and fairly. This seems simple in theory but in practice is very difficult. Also players may not want to play with other platforms which means further reducing the servers they can access.

When I play as Sundance in Battlefield 2042 I can’t steer up and down when using the wingsuit and there was an insane bug when I was playing. A bunch of parts of the map randomly turned into suns and were all white while I was playing and I couldn’t even look at certain parts of the map since it would just be a white ball and if I entered those areas my screen would be all white. Those are things that can be fixed (although I doubt the Sundance thing will be fixed because I always get scammed out of fun stuff), but the game has a bunch of issues that are because of the choices of the developers such as the lack of a normal scoreboard like TBag mentioned. The game doesn’t feel like Battlefield and instead it feels like Call Of Duty since EA decided to pander to C.O.D. fans. There aren’t enough objectives to take up the large maps, and sprinting is hard because I have to press on the joystick so hard just to have a consistent sprint, which isn’t an issue I had in other games. The specialists were a really stupid idea as everyone knows, and unfortunately I can’t escape the crap even in Portal since the non-specialist characters say stupid voice lines in Portal too. The graphics in the game are bad, like the city in the desert which looks like a potato cartoon. There are more issues, but this ranting comment gives enough to prove my point.
