it's incredible to see a small American shop (relatively) continue to innovate and drive the market forward. Closed back coming and perhaps a revision of the 1266 Phi TC in the next 18 months.

The teasing of a closed back was intriguing. Is there a large demand from customers for a closed back or is that where the natural evolution of Diana is going? It seems like it would be exceptionally difficult to cover the back of a headphone after spending about a decade optimizing the hole design for sound quality.

there is substantial demand for a closed back... Verite closed and Stellia sell quite well but there is certainly room in the market to improve upon both of these options.

Closed backs aren't about peak sound but instead simply a different use case.

Can’t wait to receive these headphones in the mail, so excited!! What would you recommend for the absolute best, most “neutral” portable headphone amp/dac? That I could travel with easily, (but that requires AC input, doesn’t have to be battery powered). Congrats guys on the amazing new headphone release!!

I’ve tried the DTC with my Chord Hugo 2 and Woo Audio wa8 and neither are ideal from the totl experience. Waiting on some other portable amp/dac’s to see if I find something better.

For awhile now Abyss headphones, despite their many great attributes, have been slammed by some reviewers for a wonky frequency response. I’ve always assumed that you did your tuning by listening to music and tuning your headphones to what you like rather than what a dummy head can reveal. But times are changing and there is a growing awareness (for me too) that measurements are an important tool in revealing esp. the timbre of music. It’s especially important for listening to recorded live instruments, classical, jazz, folk done by a competent mastering engineer. Despite what some web analysts say measurements still don’t reveal anything about soundstage, imaging, attack and decay, etc. I think its a step up for you guys to have bought into a top line dummy and Jude is certainly moving into measurements big time so an important resource for Abyss. Eager to hear the reviews on the new TC and with luck get to hear it myself. All the best!

These sound like quite the improvement. How does the new Diana stack up to the 1266? Particularly on soundstage. Also: Have you all spent much time with these and the superconductor cable? How do they respond?

Diana TC or AB1266? I do prefer the smaller and more convenient Diana compared to the bulky AB1266. But the premise is that the sound performance of the two should not be too much different.

If it sounds like a 1266 TC than the Phi then I’ll sell off my V2 and LCD XC plus all my stupid cables for them. Otherwise… my Arya V3 is damn good for the price.

The new Diana TC sounds very exciting but you make a very difficult purchasing decision, I was in the market for the 1266 before the Diana TC was announced and now my buying decision has just become that much more difficult. Maybe you can make a video on what would make someone purchase the Diana TC over the 1266 or vice versa? The Diana is close in price to the standard 1266. What would be your reason for purchasing one model over the other? How close in performance does the Diana TC come to the 1266? Would love to hear your thoughts. I love you guys but you have done two videos so far about this headphone and I am still not clear on a few things. Here are the top three questions I'd love to see you address in the near future: 1) How is it different from the Phi? 2) The "TC" implies that it is now more similar to the 1266 TC. If that is the case, in what way has this update made it more similar. 3) What are the power requirements of this versus the TC or the V2?

It’s been refined from the inside out to compete with the AB-1266 TC, appreciates about as much power yet plays nicely with less, and sounds simply amazing . Others will give impressions over time, we feel we’ve said more than enough for now.

@@x32i77 yes I figured it was from one of those reviews. Hear them for yourself. You’ll then witness how insanely non-existent this “distortion” is. I have heard many headphones and personally own HE-1, all the abyss headphones, etc. And the only headphones I think are god tier like the HE-1 are the abyss line.

@@x32i77 not necessarily, if the new Diana TC’s really do sound a bit better than the Diana Phi’s I would probably recommend those because the Diana’s are so much more comfortable for daily use. The 1266s sit a little off your ear, so they wiggle if you move around, best used in a still seated position. They have the most insane bass I’ve ever heard on headphones but I find myself using the Diana phi’s way more due to their comfort and light weight. The new Diana TC’s use the same (or very similar?) drivers as the 1266 so I think it will be the best of all worlds. I ordered them and I’ll try to remember to let you know how they sound when they arrive.

I bet anything that it is. I used to run LCD lineup (latest was lcd 4z) and all my Abyss blow them out of the water. By a long shot, seriously. I immediately ordered this one, knowing that if it is better than their Diana phi at all, it will blow my mind.

For me, it was disappointing announcement. Just another product of theirs I can't afford. I was hoping for an item, or something of the like. Closed back Diana or something. Not a price jump to almost 1266 level. I'm sure they're amazing, but damn....
