This video is the first in a series of videos where I discuss how feeling overwhelmed and frustrated can cause to think negatively and hold us back from truly enjoying our journals and our own unique creative process. This summer I want to create a series of videos where we talk about some of the things that hold us back from doing our best work in our journals.
In this video I talk about the negative impact of feeling overwhelmed, lost and frustrated because we feel like we aren't "doing it right" or that we get what I call creative stage fright.
Thanks so much for spending time with me and watching my video.
Please give me a thumbs up if enjoyed this. Happy journaling, Lisa xo

This is a great video! I too feel overwhelmed with the choices. Figuring out how to organize and store it all Neatly. The amount of videos for pockets and staining and making envelopes, various things different types of covers and bindings. OMG I gave up. I wish someone could do a video of making a beginner friendly journal that shows a few ways to decorate your pages. How why and where to place pockets n the things. So many things.... Oh the things. I like simple but pretty. Cohesive yet texture so it feels good in the hand. And YES!! A place to write. I don't want to just waste money on glue and paper to put a bunch of stuff together and do nothing with it. And a lot of the junk journal channels post content because they make journals to SELL!!!!!! Us beginners want something personal to journal in.

I'm new to journaling and am just getting into it and oh boy, the overwhelm is real! 🤣 There are so many wonderful creators, suppliers etc etc but it's it can be difficult to see the wood from the trees. Thank you for such a timely, warm and friendly video ❤

You were spot on Lisa. Yes, we are probably all aware of the things you pointed out, but I really believe we all needed to hear it! At least I did. We have to do and create things that make us happy, not anyone else. And definitely be kind to ourselves! Hugs friend!🥰

Thank you Nancy! It should be simple and easy to do but it is not and the struggle is real. Awareness of our self talk is so key. Thank you for watching :) Hugs xo

Thanks for this timely video. From the first junk journal video I watched, I have been a junk journaler - at least in my own mind. I bought paper and used books, ephemera and stickers, stencils and ink and dobbers. You know the drill. I could open a craft store. I watch videos and then wonder why I can’t recreate what I see! But, I’m not ready to throw in the towel. I’ve decided no one needs to see what I create and if it pleases me, it’s perfect! Thanks for talking me off the ledge! 😂

Awwwww Cheryl, that is so sweet of you! DO NOT give up or quit...find what speaks to YOUR soul and just do more of that. And yes, no one needs to know or see it. It is for you, to soothe you, to heal you and to make you happy. End of. I am so happy that we have connected!! Hugs xo

Perfect timing, I’m feeling the exact same way. Too much stimulation from social media., all the artists are fantastic, . I get caught up in watching the videos, ordering the digitals, products, and repeat. Etc. lol. I have so many kits and products in my craft room it’s ridiculous. Everybody’s videos are so wonderful and I do love them, but it’s a vicious cycle isn’t it? I have no self control. 🤣🤣. I think we all tend to compare ourselves and our art to others. As they say “we are our worst critics” And I think I’ve finally realized that some things are not my thing, I do not like sewing, I love the end result of the look on paper, but me and my sewing machine fight too much. Watercolors, drawing , not my thing. And I have learned not to feel less of a person for not doing these. Looking forwards to more of these videos, thank you for addressing these issues. And when I’m having a crafting block, I reorganize , purge etc my craft room.

Thank you for watching Sandi and I really appreciate you sharing with me :) I don't know if it all about self control more then it is the excitement of potential and what could be. That is what is so hard to resist not to mention that we envision all the fun we will have with the supplies and kits that we buy. YES!! Knowing what isn't your thing is very helpful!! If it doesn't click w you, don't force it. Well done! :) You do what makes you happy and bc yes, we are our own worst critic....every damn day LOL! We need to give our selves room to evolve and not berate ourselves for choices we made in the past. Thanks again for your time. Hugs, Lisa xo

Oh my, Yes!! And yes, and yes, and yesssss! I appreciate this talk so much! Those books look awesome. I had to laugh when you said, "I'm not Moses coming down from the mountains with the TEMPLATES!" It's tablets, Lisa, TABLETS! But to us journalists you are right, it's actually templates! Hehehe Thanks for letting me tease you! And thank you for taking all my crafting troubles to heart. 💗 This has a already helped me so much.
