I remember when rods had a pistol grip handle and you could change rods using the same handle you could even build your own rod. I had one that a walnut grip bad idea is would slip in your hand my Son has the handles now. GOD bless you! Keep on keepin on!

More importantly... find someone who can handle your rod like a pro, regardless of length. Mine may have some scars and a crooked eye, but man has it whooped up on some big-uns!! Also, it just feels perfect in my hand! Thanks Bill! Your advise has paid off in many ways, Your "worm fishing" vids have produced lots of "large mouths": throughout my life. No, I dont take pictures of them, only measurements.

Great video!! IMO the 7ft medium fast is my sweet spot for bass fishing in ponds and lakes here in Florida 👌

I'm 6'2 and bank fish...a 6'6mh is my fav. I also have a 7' med and a 7'4 frog rod. That 6'6 is my go to and especially for spinnerbaits.

"I am confused"... damn that had me rolling. Exactly how I feel right now about shopping for a new rod. I am an experienced angler but I have not had the need to purchase a rod for a while now and the game has certainly changed. I require your help and with that line, you got me hooked. (Pun intended)

How about something about multi-piece rods vs 1-piece.

Thank You Bill for sharing your Experience & Tips. They are Always Appreciated. I've learned that the Longer Rods in Spinning & Casting are Much Better. You can stay farther away from the fish, which doesn't spook them. Also that you have more leverage in fighting a larger fish. My Success Rate has Drematically Increased. Shorter rods are a thing of the Past.

6’6” medium fast is my preference for spinning or casting!

Even with soft plastics?
@gavinhighsmith54404 жыл бұрын
I like heavy action seven foot three for plastics

Sometimes I’ll break out my 7’ casting rod but it’s rare.
@mikefromoh29253 жыл бұрын
6’6 is a great manageable length. Long enough for good casting but not so long you can’t reach the tip to untangle a twisted line.
@walden6272 Жыл бұрын
I do think 6'6" is the perfect balance.

I started using 7ft rods the first time you spoke about them and it's hard for me to use shorter ones
@gavinhighsmith54404 жыл бұрын
Same I even like seven three for flipping

My standard rod, my go to for the longest time until very recently was a 7ft med power fast action rod. Recently I switched to a 7ft med med rod.

HI Bill, Good info here, But what is the best rod length and action for crappie fishing. I don't have a boat so I fish from the bank.

So there’s no longer a short of it? I kayak fish small boats in small streams. Took a 7 foot rod once. Never again! Lucky I didn’t break it , very unmanageable in a boat 10 feet long and skinny water.
@TheJakobLott Жыл бұрын
Exactly..I went back to 6’6” and it was a better experience!
