If you think it would be worthwhile, a video about “not hanging on” would be helpful for me and a lot of the guys I know. It seems that even the people that claim they are “not hanging on” are still flexing their fingers at each knuckle, and using their wrist flexion?
@thomasdumas8 ай бұрын
From what I’ve learnt they mean not hanging on in the strap so it’s better for a toproll using the strap to hang on for them so they can use other muscles without having to worry about squeezing/hanging on

I 100% agree. There is a ton of misunderstanding on this topic. This would be the best video Chris could make. I was going to post a quick explanation of what they are doing when "flexing their fingers at each knuckle"... but Ill let Chris do that.

In the beginning of the video you say that the rotator cuff is responsible for internal and external rotation. This is partly true, pec major contributes when it comes to internal rotation. Lats, front head of the delt also contributes. Biceps and brachialis also contribute to internal rotation in position of shoulder flexion and elbow flexion. But this is just nitty picky, but building strong pecs will definitly help for inside game with high inside rotational force.

In these things it's important to remember that when in doubt, assume you're a beginner. Skipping to intermediate thinking you should be able to will probably give you an overuse injury or worse, which will slow your training for the next several months or even longer. I'm 3.5 years in the sport, very active, but have neglected internal rotation the entire time so my center table is weak. So I'll assume I'm a beginner in this. Already spent a couple weeks doing the light band from front as warmup at the gym and practises and can't feel it anymore, so it won't take long to move onto intermediate.

Hey Chris, I have a competition March the 16th and funnily enough I started this journey of armwrestling with a certain feeling of impostor syndrome. Since my friends were always the ones more interested in the sport. Due to my university studies and lack there of transport, I can't get to an armwrestling club to pratice with. But through your channel and your knowledge, I can say my interest and understanding has improved immensly. I'll probably lose, but it won't be because I don't know why. Btw the reason I started training for armwrestling is to make a documentary about it. I wish to make it easier to understand armwrestling. Anywho, Imma watch this video now.

I assume with internal rotation the amount of weight you are generally going to use is almost never going to be much load on the elbow, so is there any risk while arm wrestling of having freaky internal rotation with much weaker elbows?
@ChrisDrummondAW8 ай бұрын
Well as it gets stronger your elbows will get stronger too so that shouldn't be a major concern. Plenty of ways to get that elbow stronger, I talk about it a lot on this channel.

Strong internal rotation & heavy jm press(over 220lbs) should be a good foundation.
@tilmanrotationalinvariant22578 ай бұрын
@@Rx820brew I am super weak in internal rotation. There are guys who are stronger, but they have zero chance to beat me in any state. I actually think its mostly useless.

Which model of the wall mount cable system do you use? I assume it’s the Titan version?
@ChrisDrummondAW8 ай бұрын
This is the Valor BD62. It’s ok, gets the job done.

Im doing internal rotation almoust the way you do the full rom wrist curls where i lean to my side with the dumbell and move it from my bottom shoulder to my top shoulder, thoughts?
@ChrisDrummondAW8 ай бұрын
Perfectly valid if you don’t have a cable or bands available to you but I think it’s not optimal.
