I’m a long way from being in the mist of top cycling. And was wondering a couple nights ago if this mess of not paying out all the winners was corrected. Seems not! Also seems tacky to pay out to legion and not the others. Guess old saying is correct, money controls the ones with their hands on the most. I also think it’s poor that they are not paying out just because the Europeans do not. Just isn’t right to not pay out as teams were led to believe. The money should be in a bank before the race. If not don’t race, for money anyway

I’m a teacher and teach for a living because I believe in the path. Teach. Guide. Educate. Inform. Expose. When it comes to cycling, it’s mostly a hobby and I have to say it, NorCal did soooooo much more than Legion ever did when it comes to guiding and promoting the sport. At least that’s from my point of view. Argument: Have Legion ever did a video like “How To Ride Your First Crit” on KZbin or something? Not that I am aware of or at least have access to. That’s another form of “gatekeeping” which NorCal Cycling doesn’t do. The only time they ‘educate’ is when they lost a race telling other people to hold their line or something which is more like whining than anything else. 😅 I am with NorCal on this one.

I've been leary of Legion for a long time. Their hostility to individual racers in their own videos is a bad look. They act like they are going to battle instead of putting on tight pants and spinning pedals. They bully other riders off of their lines with shouting and screaming like they own the exclusive right to race tactically. Meanwhile, everyone is fawning over them and ignoring the shady stuff because they get a new demographic riding. By all means call them out, so someone who treats the sport with respect can take the reigns and teach the people they are exposing to riding that it should be fun, first and foremost. There is a reason that Justin couldn't get along with his housemates in Europe. It's because he is hard to get along with and his personal narrative is bull. JEFF- Thanks for bringing this to light for those of us that don't have instagram accounts - you have no need to apologize when what you are saying is your opinion is, the fact they don't like it and feel the need to attack you on social media shows their maturity level - I have not been a fan of L39ION for a few years now after seeing how they race, treat others & this keep reaffirming my decision - but unlike you I will say - L39ION IS BAD FOR THE SPORT, nothing they do is about promoting the sport, they only promote themselves & I wish the sponsors like SRAM, RAPHA, SPECIALIZED, ZWIFT & COMPETITIVE CYCLISTS would take note & drop them. Keep doing what your doing Jeff !!!

When you go to somebody’s Instagram and their comments are limited, it’s safe to say they are probably the ones on the wrong side of the argument.

Keep on going Jeff, you're a very positive force to the sport and I've learned so much from you. I also believe some guys at Legion's are a little cocky, it happens when you win so much and then adore your own image.

I like your closing point best, Jeff, and this all reminds me of the huge disconnect between BMX riding and BMX racing in the '70s. Like from '72 to late '74 we lived in Pacifica, fun place to ride with friends for hours. Then, for kicks in '79 when I was working in radio in Vallejo, AM station KNBA the Mighty 1190, I competed in several BMX races in the Novice Class at age 19/20 and talk about culture shock, competitors didn't really chat with each other and if you got knocked over in a berm, O well, down you go, not their concern. And then there were parents railing against their kids for losing and that was truly heartbreaking, nothing good could ever come from that. And so now, with these crits, sure, I see the same racing deal, people taking them and themselves way too seriously and leaving the fun and community for someone else to find. And so we have gravel and I am pleased about that. I always was enamored with big off-road races like the Baja 1000. :)

Jeff, it’s your OPINION! Everyone’s entitled to one! If you would have said what you did about any other team, you wouldn’t have gotten this “backlash”. I am a fan of Legion, but how soft is it that they can’t take a little professional criticism? You’re not some hater on IG in their comment section, you’re a well respected rider in the cycling community and a phenomenal KZbinr. Keep doing what you’re doing, you really are a force for good in cycling! I always appreciate your insight to races and content!

Thank you Jeff! Sad to see the way that a lot of things have gone down recently. Used to be a big Legion fan, big Justin fan, but this is really disappointing.

I look up to legion. Still do when it comes to talent but maybe I'm not sure about their character anymore. Ive always been a supporter of you Jeff and in behalf of Filipinos we are with you!

Great comment Jeff! Very humble and educational, seriously there is hundreds of pro's that can beat that Legion guy with just one leg in a sprint...and I have met so many idiots that think they are so good and racing for the TDF...but fortunately also very good people like you that are more relaxed about the sport. Please just take it easy, it's just a sport....

I've been a Legion fan always, idolized them. I've learned more about cycling racing from Jeff (NorCal) than any other "pro" cyclist or media anywhere. He's a cycling personality with a following, he gives great value to the community and good example for young people. Complete opposite attitude from Justin, immature and childish, drama, etc.. opposite from what their thing is all about. Be a positive FORCE for good LEGION!

Fortunately, I don’t follow Legion on any social media platform. Lol. Someone got way butthurt and thinks he can never go wrong. Insecurity comes out once you get too popular. Keep doing what you are doing Jeff!

Keep doing what you’re doing, Jeff, you earned my support a long time ago. I’m not a fan of Legion, and neither are several Rapha employees I know. They don’t appreciate being associated with a team (an individual?) that has been unsafe/should have been DQ’d many times in national events. Sounds like the Mike’s team success is getting under someone’s fragile ego.

Gutted you had to defend yourself Jeff. I think what you said was absolutely bang on and it’s disappointing that Legion can’t take a bit of criticism. Your videos have made as much of a contribution to the sport as any pro has and taught me how to bike race so please keep doing what you are doing!
