Judgement Day is the title of the first album Lovebites recorded and released after new bass player Fami joined the band in late 2022. Some fans think that the title is a challenge to those who maybe thought that the departure of Miho in 2021 was going to mark the end of them as a band. You might be interested in the reason the band dress in white. In 2018 during their European tour, the year they were the first all female Japanese band to play at Wacken and they won the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for best new band, in an interview with a French music magazine, Asami the vocalist when asked about it said, "We are girls, we don't want to dress like boys, also we are all short and white makes us easier to see on stage". Again to quote Asami, during concerts and in an echo of Lemmy of Motorhead fame, she will proclaim, "We Are Lovebites, And We Play, Heavy Metal !" These Ladies are the 'real deal' a group of very talented musicians who came together to play heavy metal because the wanted to. They also seem to genuinely be very good friends off stage, meeting for social events and doing things together. 3 members of the band were in the audience for Band-Maids 10th anniversary concert in Yokohama last year, with whom they are also friends. There seems to none of the destructive ego that is to be found in some bands. I regard them as one of the best of the best bands I have had the privilege to see play live in my 75 years. I am grateful to have lived long enough for this.

LOVEBITES is the real deal, not an idol band like Baby Metal! The founders of LOVEBITES are drummer Haruna and former bassist Miho, they were in the legendary all female metal band Destrose, pioneers of the all female metal bands. LOVEBITES plays heavy metal, power metal, speed metal, thrash metal and hard rock. And a lot of classical influence by concert level pianist Miyako, who is not only one of the lead guitarists but also the keyboardist and main composer and arranger of the band. Brother, with all due respect... the only thing in common between Lovebites and Babymetal is they're from Japan. That's it. I place Babymetal among Tenacious D and Electric Callboy... they're irreverent, they add to the Metal lore by subverting the genre, the stereotypes. It's fun and people love them, they remind us to not take life so seriously. I respect what they do. Lovebites is different. They take over from where a generation of metalheads felt lost after a paradigm shift (the advent of Grunge, Hip Hop and other genres en vogue). Lovebites isn't "modern Metal". They're old-school by choice, like an oath to the truth. They're Heavy Metal, revitalized. It's a risky move. Take for example Wolfmother, a legacy band. They're quite good, but sometimes they feel like a mere copy-paste from Led Zeppelin. Lovebites feel straight right from the 80's. Yes they honor the masters of the genre, but they mix in their little magic to it... they're sincere and work so hard not to emulate the Golden Years, but to carry the torch (at this point just embers). And they're accomplishing it. They're setting the world on fire. They're the Merovingians of classic Heavy Metal, whose lineage we thought lost. And they so happen to be very graceful, very sweet Japanese young women, which doesn't diminish at all what they do -- just the opposite. They're mesmerizing. They're the real deal. 🤘🐺🤘

Big compliment to you, you have the ability to describe this wonderful band perfectly from a musical point of view. I'm glad that you also use the musical term "prog", especially with the song "Judgement Day" I had the feeling I was experiencing a kind of "speed prog". In 2019 I experienced a KING CRIMSON concert (with 3 drummers), then I had a long break (Covid...) and in 2024 I finally experienced the next highlight "LOVEBITES - Live in Lindau, Germany". In terms of volume they did Motörhead proud, luckily I had earplugs with me, but on the way home it felt like I was driving in a submarine. When you experience LOVEBITES live in concert, you love this band even more afterwards, unbelievable.

You mist LOVEBITES last june in LINDAU, i Saw them in Paris on the same period for the European & UK Tour. Each members of LOVEBITES start learning music at young age ( 3 years for Miyako and around 5 for the others members) then switch to others instruments later. ( Miyako 17 years, Midori 20 years) Asami the Vocalist was train as ballet dancer. On stage Asami & Miyako play piano. On GLORY TO THE WORLD you have seen the Former Bassist MIHO ( founder of LOVEBITES) she left the band in 2021 for personal reasons and be replace by FAMI on 2022. FAMI is the youngest one ( 21 years old) others members are mid-thirty . Two members are mothers Miyako in 2021 & Asami in 2022. The record label compagny of LOVEBITES is VICTOR ENTERTAINEMENT ( his master voice) A PART OF JVC/KENWOOD CORPORATION. BABYMETAL is a IDOL Band ( cast from a school for idols) they've perform with a METAL Band in the back (4 différents since 2010). You can't compare thoses 2 différents Bands. It's the same to compare SCORPION & TOKYO HOTEL both a german Bands.

The existence of BABYMETAL, which was created based on the concept of “fusion of idol and metal” in a variety show, is a special case in Japan, where rock and metal bands are mostly formed organically. This LOVEBITES was also formed by Miho (former bass player) and Haruna (drummer). Watch their live performances and you will understand why metalhead dads all over the world are crazy about them.

As others have noted they were in Lindau this past June. They first played in Germany in 2018 (Wacken Open Air, Essen, Hamburg, Aschaffenburg). They did a group photo with Babymetal at Resurrection Fest in Spain, also this past June. (I mention this to annoy the Babymetal haters.) They have done a cover of Helloween's "Eagle Fly Free". The dark-haired guitarist Miyako is also a classical pianist and has done a piano transcription of the same song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5mWc3-IqJWLqJY Other Japanese metal bands you should check out are Nemophila and Hanabie. Literally anything is worth listening to. Finally, you have done The Warning and Band-Maid in the past. These two bands recently released a collaboration "Show Them": kzbin.info/www/bejne/gofPYaCZetpkqJo They 1st met at the Aftershock festival in California in 2022. The Warning did their 1st Japan tour this year opening with a joint concert with Band-Maid where they ended the concert with both bands playing this song live. Both bands would like to do another collab and do a joint concert in Mexico (where Band-Maid has performed before).
