Besides building our life, I really prefer an independent finance for each. My wife is housewife, and i concern to some unexpected things may occur, that why i monthly transfer 70% my income to her own account, i teached her pay bills of living cost, but i pay for children's school fees and also pay for her social insurance.

My statement below are my own and not reflective of any position my employer may/may not have. ---------- Every marriage has its own way of managing their own finances. They tend to figure out what best for them. If you sitting there & calculating every single nickel&dime, you'll never be happy in your marriage because you always prioritize money over family. Regarding your friend, Leyna... Most states are community property when it comes to divorce. Unless there's a prenup, all of the money & assets are combined by the judge, then divided in half. It doesn't matter who the owner of the account is. All accounts must be disclosed & if you hide things, you will lose more than half of what in your accounts. My suggestion would be to keep things as simple as possible, put everything together and divided in half. The more you fight, the more the lawyer take away what you have. Also, I suggest that you have a husband's perspective on your show as well, It shouldn't be just from a female point of view. Hope this helps! 😊

At my state in US, it does not need to be married to be responsible for each other in financing or health care and everything. You live together 6 months or more if you decide to go different ways then they can still file to court for sharing everything equally about property and money or even the retirement money. So a prenup can cover that but still it doesn’t sound like love. Love is blind.

Layna .. Congratulations you don't have a Join Account .. 🥰👍👍👏👏 We all need to learn how to protect ourselves . Do Not lean on your partner to do or care for everything ! . Think of the long terms . Think of the Incase . Think of the Future . The most Important thing are we all need to learn how to protect our life ! .

Hi Leyna, I’m an old Vietnamese American woman originally from Huế, and my youngest child is as old as one of your guest on the show. I watch your non English teaching episodes out of curiosity and I admit, for entertainment. This episode is great in both content and format. May I suggest topics such as: disciplining children, division of labor in the home, hobbies (non religious ones), kids after school activities, retirement investing, caring for the elders… Keep up the good work, Ms Leyna.

Some Vietnamese traditional parents do not want their single young professional son/daughter to marry a divorced partner with children from previous marriage. Especially, their son/daughter is a medical doctor. One of reasons would be finance if their son/daughter does not use his/her brain when falling in love. In addition, several Vietnamese traditional parents who were professional in Vietnam often have friends with similar background. These parents encourage and find opportunities for their children to date and marry partners within their circle. However, it is difficult in America because Vietnamese immigrants came from many places with different background in Vietnam. Hope that Ms. Leyna would have these topics in the future.

Chị Leyna ơi, cái dấu đỏ nhảy trên chữ làm em bị hoa mắt chóng mặt - the red sign non-stop jumping on the screen made me dizzy (similar as car-sick). Otherwise, big size of subtitle is great for especially for old people watching this lessons. I suggest you to put in on bottom of the screen and remove jumping. Maybe others do not have my problems, but it is not really good for ours eyes while nowadays we spend too much time on screens. Em cảm ơn chị ạ! From Hanoi with love!

I think that even though you have a separate account when you divorce every account still device by 2. Is that right?
@LeynaNguyen2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the state but even in community property states, you don’t HAVE to divide in two.
@TN-zj6ke7 ай бұрын
I think what you have before the marriage, you don’t need to divide, but anything after the marriage, the other party can fight to get half and in the community, I believe you have to split if they fight for it.

I know a Vietnamese professional lady who married to an American man three years ago. He has no college education. They dated and lived together for one year before marriage. She became his sixth wife because he had five marriages before in several states. This is a second marriage for her. However, it is strange that she has not met anyone from his side, including friends, relatives, siblings and adult children. No one from his side showed up in their wedding. She has no ideas about his past. Prior to their marriage, he told her to take out fund from her 401k more than $10,000 to fix up her house. She did and paid taxes and penalty for early withdrawal. Then he moved in her house with a big cabinet of guns and an urn contained ashes of unknown deceased person. He has put his own house for rent. She has to take care of herself and her teenage son financially. Thanks to Leyna and all ladies for sharing this topic.

As a lady we should not to support financial for the man and he did not support the lady he love. If I were married with someone did not work I better live by myself. Love someone by heart but also use your brain. I hope your friend to open her eyes and choose the right man for her.
@vonmajor1002 жыл бұрын
I also have a daughter and I want to raise her to be smart and choose the right man for her life. Marry consider like gamble , if you are lucky after married husband or wife turn out so nice and kind or opposite. As lady we have to take care of ourselves , do not let man take advantage on us. I like Leyna N because she is strong and smart lady. Young girls should learn from LN and take her as idol for their goal life future.

I did not learn anything from this clip especially about your topic of marital finance, joint vs individual account. It is more about being financial responsibility and examples of different couples have different ways handling their finances. I guess it is hard for you to target your talk through a specific audiences since internet media is so broad
