I've never wanted to give a character a very big hug this much ever since I read All My Rage. Sunja deserves so much warmth and comfort after all of that shit she went through.

This book made me fall back in love with reading and get into historical fiction.

I know I'm late to this vid but this book hit home for me. I am a Korean American and during my childhood I was surrounded by people who tried to white wash me and my mother. I connected Noah and Moses's struggles. I hurt so badly for Sunja when Noah died. Her struggle was for that man and he took it all for granted.

I just finished reading it and enjoyed it very much, the way it was explained is not only an excellent but historical as well. My take on the two brothers is that Mozasu was the more responsible of the two. I felt for Noa but the way he abdomen his family and then abdomen his seconded family by committed suicide shows that how educated he was it showed how deeply flawed he was.

Very interesting video and analysis of the book. I ordered Pachinko from a used books store so I'm waiting for it to be delivered, really looking forward to reading it. I must admit I'm not great at keeping up with long books because I get distracted by life, but I hope this one will keep me engaged!

Read Island of the sea women by Lisa See! It’s set in Jeju (where Hansu is from) and also spans multiple generations. It’s different enough to be refreshing but has similar themes!
