I've not had engine problems from expensive vs low cost oil brands. The key to a long running engine: drive like a normal person, change the oil on a regular realistic schedule, and check the oil level! Have a maintenance sheet in the glove box to record regular maintenance. Too many rely on the oil level sensor (which is dangerously low) and not actually pull the dip stick. As a wise bloke once said "Treat your vehicle hard and it will treat your wallet hard". Burning rubber off the light change will shorten your engine life, racing on the freeway at excessive speeds shortens your engine life. Oils are rated to general standards and brands are just stickers on the bottle. Drive more safely.
