We really need Private servers, Hosted / Fully Moderated & Whitelisted by the community. Just Like In DayZ. SURE there will still be cheaters BUT with active admins they will get cleaned up real quick. Each server would have different profiles, But just like games like DayZ for the ones that play it I'm sure you all have a favourite server you enjoy playing on. With hosted servers, Server / Community owners could see peoples KD & other stats to fish out the ones that get through the net. BSG could even be a middle man to stop server code being leaked if they don't like the idea at the same time they would make money or even charging for private servers themselves. STILL keep official servers up but PLEASE BSG this would help with the cheater issue massively. Sure, There will be people that don't agree with this BUT its just a idea that I believe would help the game massively.

Pestily, it's VERY important to note that you can't be sued for defamation if the statement you make is true. (in most of the world anyway) Unless BSG can prove that his statements about the number of cheaters is false (and in most of the world he'd also have to KNOW his statement was false) then they can't touch him in that regard. They can absolutely stop him from ever using their game in videos again if they really wanted to, but they can't go after him for damage unless he completely fabricated this all. @@DinoNucci Yes, and very simple to understand actually. Basically: if a video exposing a cheater issue is bringing down a game because the devs, after years, not acting on the issue - then this game should die off. It's not worth the effort of legit players playing it. There's countless ways how devs could act on this but they don't care. It's money for them. They do "waves" to allow cheaters to have some fun, ban their accounts in waves and incentivize buying new keys and play for a few weeks again. BSG is a shithole and their game is literally abusing that fact. They made millions over soft banning cheaters, as in not banning their hardware ID's for a while (at least a year e.g.). And yes, if you buy a used GPU and it's blocked you could always open a ticket or just don't buy used or try a refund etc. Instead we ended up in a cycle where cheating actually created an additional industry - one where the cheat makers benefit, the cheaters benefit AND the developers benefit.

They need that money, if they shit on bsg they would lose their community privileges and less players means less money for them. BSG also has quite the history of destroying creators who talk about issues, key among them being eroktic. Creators are in a catch 22: -Ignore the video and downplay it to try and retain friendly relations with BSG and maintain a good player base of the community. However should the cheating problem persist, could destroy the game entirely in the long run. -Agree with the video and in the short term harm the player base and their own revenue, and long term could cause BSG to fix the cheater issue more, or they don’t and they get less money short and long term.

My personal experience has been, pick up something actually valuable like a case, you will be dead within 30-60 seconds, every time. Occasionally I will make it out of a raid with a GPU, but really convenient stuff starts happening for other players. I haven't ever gotten rich in tarkov, so most of my runs are low gear. On shoreline I almost never get in a fight before 10-20 minutes. The second I load into a raid with 2-3 mil loadout, I'm getting killed in my spawn. Interesting thought process on the legal aspect. In my eyes IF they decided to pursue legal action this would make BSG look extremely bad.. or worse.. point being the creator has brought a new light to the issue and eft has grown a lot over the last few years. It would look like instead of BSG spending money on finding a fix to drastically reduce hackers they would be spending money on a lawyer to sue a content creator which would cause a ripple effect across other content creators. I believe it would cause people to quit even more than the video itself if it caused anyone to quit.. they need to address the issue quickly and they need to be willing to spend a lot of money to make sure the integrity of their game is as good as it possible can be. I understand the 'hey don't talk about it because now more people will cheat' dilemma, but it's completely counter to how it should be tackled. Trying to push it under the rug just makes it so that the people who do cheat become a small hidden community and face little resistance. The only way this problem gets solved is if the lid gets blown off of this and everyone starts cheating. Lets face it, cheaters have been around since the beginning of tarkov. There has never been a solid push to try and counter them, and everything that BSG does is simply to try and maintain their reputation by saying 'we are trying'. No they aren't. Cheating in tarkov has never been this bad. The player base is larger than ever, and that means more cheaters too. If the player base would stop focusing on more content updates and new guns, BSG wouldn't avoid major issues like this in favor of additional content. In my opinion, BSG needs a patch like rainbow six siege had, operation health. They need to sideline content creation for a typical content creation period, 6-9 months, and work on balancing and cheating issues. It's evident in their most recent movement and weight change that even moderate rebalancing can bring a breath of fresh air into tarkov. Now I don't know how and I am not suggesting how to fix the cheating issue, but I believe it is apparent that whatever it is BSG is 'doing' to fix it isn't adequate. Any progress in lowering the amount of cheaters is better than none, even at the sake of new maps or guns. Tarkov can be tough to play and learn, but it shouldn't be unplayable and most importantly unenjoyable.

seeing the actual statistics would have been nice. A lower count of data points is mostly a matter of margin of error, but certainly it's enough of a problem that there isn't much getting around it. I do think the numbers are higher, and I totally agree with you that outside my own personal assumptions, we need far more data. He also wasn't running on particularly well known maps for cheaters either; Labs, Interchange, and Shoreline are some of the most common places to find people ghosting and vacuuming out loot right in front of your eyes.

I actually remember this. And although its just another in line of videos showing how bad the cheating is, I find the argument people are making that "it doesn't change anything" really weak, because the more people see that its *true*, the more people will finally understand the severity of the issue and be vocal in support of more aggressive actions against it. I'm glad one video finally finally made some proper waves, even if its only temporary.

When going in against a larger organization, you need to have numbers on your side for support or you'll get silenced. Goat is able to stand while doing this because the community was able to see it so fast and now it can't be silenced or forgotten. If an unknown does this, a small handful of people see it and they don't have a voice loud enough to be heard either. It's not "streamer" perks, it's just a numbers game. Just like every other social justice leader in the past, they weren't the first with the idea...they were just the ones that created a platform large enough not to be silenced before getting the momentum. Not that he should be considered amongst them, it's just how going against the establishment works.

Pest, I've been dealing with cheaters since 1.3 counter-strike. Back when we played nightly pubs with the same group of dudes and if someone was suspicious, we'd spectate and clear 'em out. I understand the size is difficult to manage when there's so many servers, but as a game developer what is stopping them from running admin powered fake players to monitor the servers and snip these dudes off. Like, doesn't the wiggle meta piss them off as much as it pisses the rest of us off? That's what I'm baffled by. Shouldn't they be like "yeah, this is annoying as hell... we're going to start running cheats on our end and insta banning these people when they wiggle back. It's no different when in CS one of us would spectate and be like, no chance he would turn around there... and then we would take responsibility for that player and get rid of them using our best knowledge because we owed it to the people that came and played in our pub. I don't know man, we got cheaters all over Rust, but at least there's a few active admins I can ping and they even make content out of it like Camomo. It's bizarre man. Love the vids, welcome back Pest. ☕
@FormerGovernmentHuman Жыл бұрын
Yeah and you probably falsely banned alot of good or lucky players, it’s a double edged sword. Luckily you can just find another server. Being a young squeaker that was really good at CS got me banned from alot of pubs back in the day and I had no idea how to cheat. I barely understood how to import a spray image. However I agree, giving trusted players the ability to spectate raids and report suspicious players or record them for manual review would be very nice. Kill cams in the post raid screen would also help.

I just uninstalled the game after playing and loving it since 2019. I really want to keep playing this game and rekindle the 2019-2021 days but with the rampant hackers infesting the lobbies, it's just not possible for me anymore. It used to be a very stable experience where I don't need to worry about hackers, terrible audio, and questionable changes. But with each wipe, it just felt like it was going downhill and now I have very little motivation to play the game outside of playing with friends. It's a sad state of affairs when you see something that you've had plenty of time with fall so hard. I really hope they do something, but how BSG is handling the current cheating problem it's not going to happen soon enough.
@SparkZ009 Жыл бұрын
Honestly its the only correct way to go about this. I havent played for as long as you (started during christmas 2021) and i've stopped playing for an indefinite amount of time and will be sporadically following the cheating situation. BSG now needs to earn back my trust (this sounds kinda pompous im sorry) and other people's trust. If it takes every legit player quitting and hackers soaring to 100% for BSG to actually stop most of their activity and focus most of their attention on this issue, and actually SHOW it to people to earn some good faith back, then i'll accept the potential of this game hemorraging heavily. I'd rather have it die than be hopelessly infested. If BSG is unable to keep up with the development expertise it requires then let someone else do it.

Very balanced and neutral take highlighting all sides, good stuff. I think streamers who say this is nothing new aren't exactly in the wrong, but thats extremely biased. Streamers play 4-12 hours a day almost every day, put in a large volume of quick raids, a lot on hot maps like labs where cheating is rampant, and thus they have a decently accurate view of the shenanigans happening. But i'd wager from the response from most of the common folk who play much less that the video came as a shocking revelation. I watch a lot of streamers and am generally in touch with the more popular players and even I was shocked at how shamelessly they were doing it so even for me it was eye opening and made me outright stop playing indefinitely until a VISIBLE improvement can be seen. Nikita's response doesn't inspire any hope in me without something measurable to evaluate. Also never saw how the video glorified cheating, but I agree with some streamers, you could steelman the perspective of not condemning it or shaming the very act itself enough. Semanthics.

I first got Tarkov in 2018 and needed some guides on the tasks, which is how i actually found your channel in the first place. Absolutely loved your vids and stayed for the entertainment. Now EFT is my favorite game of all time, the gear guns and combat are sublime, but i refuse to play it, solely because of the cheater epidemic. There was just as much cheating before battleeye than there is now. 2018 of you joined a game with an M4 then you would always die within minutes to a single head tap from the abyss. I adapted my play style to actually combat the cheaters. Very low gear, going to places in the map with low loot and being less apealing. Problem is that you miss a lot of the enjoyment from the game. After years of putting up with cheaters i just left it. Which is a shame but i think EFT highlights the cheating epidemic that has existed since Counter Strike first arrived. What can be done to combat them? Who knows, short of having an anti cheater player in each raid who can police the issue. I would definately volunteer for that fyi Battlestate games. To end with, cheaters have actually stopped me from watching any Pestily EFT videos. Used to love the series but ultimately i know that Pestily would not have the same challenges as a normal player. Cheaters know to avoid him because they will get insta banned. Its annoying watching Pestily play raids where he will have the actual game experience when normal players just wont get that. So unless something can be done about the cheaters it will also effect streamers who will lose viewers due to the resentment that they get to enjoy the game properly with out the cheaters ruining it for them. Tarkov still is my favourite game of all time that i wont be playing again.

@nathanlibranda2447 Жыл бұрын
Your point about wanting more statistical data about where the cheaters are found; the community as a whole would love this info. The normal players would love to learn "US East Coast" has twice as many cheaters as "US West Coast", but if a statement like that is made on a popular video then the cheaters will just adjust as they see fit. It is nice to see the statistical data, but it is also not nice since the cheaters see the same data. My Tarkov communities have spent a lot of time and effort finding server, map, and timezone combinations that work better for us. If a statistical video of cheater locations, maps, and times came out then it would cause enough of a shift of cheaters to ruin all the time and effort we've invested to find preferable servers.
@tamaninesauc10 ай бұрын
Ok, you and pest obviously have no idea how statistical analysis works, what is it based on, how statistical datasets are composed, and MOST IMPORTANTLY what variables to analyse i.e. - identifying the characteristics or factors that you believe may have an impact on the phenomenon you are studying. In this case we want to study cheaters. You mentioned “east coast vs west coast”, now please identify what, and i mean specifically, what characteristics of east coast and west coast may affect your data ? I mean, Europe vs US definitely. But major noticeable differenc within a country ? I highly doubt that that would grant any significant results unless theres a major difference between the server technical properties. For example, EU vs US - financial stability. These cheats cost money. Eu is, generally speaking, poorer than the us (per capita). Us east vs us west. Unless there are some major gaming culture differences between those servers i highly doubt you’d find anything of note.
