I don’t think Atlus cares about making a “definitive edition”. Making a definitive version with everything remade plus FEMC and the Answer would take an ungodly amount of time and money. People do not want DLC and would cry if the game was over $60 but they want Atlus to take a project that was probably about 6-7 years in the making and add 3 more years of work for no extra cost. The FEMC only happened because Portable is a glorified visual novel. Atlus would have to add new music, new models, completely new dialogue, change UIs, make completely new anime cut scenes WHICH ARE SUPER EXPENSIVE and if they were cut people would complain, almost double the social links, redo any new reload content and add it to FEMC. It’s so much work and for people to expect Atlus to take like years for all of this is insane. The Answer is more weird but honestly I don’t think they want to sink money into something that a large percentage of people hate. Even if they remade it the people who already did like it would complain and it’s not 100% that people would accept it bc you cannot please persona fans.

Dude the game is more than 60 dollars and yes people are mad about it, especially since they released p3p just before this and didn't mention that a remake was in the works so that new fans would buy p3p because they didnt know the remake was gonna be a thing, blatant cash grab. Also they mention how they want to stick close to the original, but they didn't bring any of the og voice actors back, didn't bring the original female singer back for the ost, and just used the singer from p5, (who sucks at singing the old songs, but the new songs are actually really good ngl) and they just added the easiest content to develop from the other games like aigis' social link, which wasn't in og persona 3, and fully controlable party members, which shows that they arent actually try to remake og persona and are just trying to make a persona game that appeals to p5 fans, by adding showtime attacks and the all out attack stylized images. They're also already shilling cosmetic dlc when in the originals you just earned alternate costumes naturally by playing the game. Overall it just screams shitty business practice.

I’m about to say something controversial: I actually like The Answer. _Story-wise._ A lot of people tend to give it shit for its story and the way that the characters act, but personally, I think it’s a good epilogue for the main story, and it actually has a decent portrayal of grieving the death of a loved one. Gameplay-wise? Yeah, I’m not defending that mess. That’s kinda why I wanted to see it remade, though. So we can experience this epilogue without the super frustrating parts. (You know, no compendium, party control, every goddamn enemy having the skill to evade their weaknesses.) Unless Atlus releases The Answer as DLC for Reload, which I’m pretty sure we all know that they wouldn’t be above doing, we have to settle for the frustrating gameplay on FES. As for FEMC, I can forgive not adding the female protagonist, even if I really liked her as well, but if they aren’t going to remake FEMC’s route, the least Atlus could’ve done was given the male teammates social links. The problem is, they’re NOT doing that, which reeeaaally sucks. Yes, I know that they’re adding new side stories for the cast to give them further development, but they’re doing it for the female teammates too, and they’ll still have social links, so in my book it doesn’t really make up for the male teammates.

A huge problem with Persona 3 is that there wasn’t a definitive version of the game that offered everything that the other three versions of the game had, which is why a lot of us wanted a P3 remake in the first place. So it hurts that, even with a remake being announced, we STILL don’t have a definite Persona 3 experience yet. :-(

I'm not sure too many people clamoring for The Answer were around when it came out almost 20 years ago, but it was hated by nearly all players at the time. The fact that people think in 2024 their going to put something out like that to the mainstream is insane. The critics are already going to have a field day with Tartarus, imagine giving them a final act of 20 - 30 hours of content that is only inclusive of all the bad Persona 3 had to offer...

Too me, not including the female route makes sense but i think the best way to go about it would have been to incorporate some of the social links from her route into the main game. To me thats a no brainer but you never know, maybe they did.

So clearly they aren't sticking too heavily to the original, they are just too lazy to develop the answer and the femc route, but they're fine charging 70 dollars for another p3 game that doesn't include all it's content. Im honestly ok with them leaving out femc and the answer. The answer is honestly kind of mid and i prefer how the game ends without it. And a lot of the content that was in FemC, although really neat and interesting, a lot of it is also pretty baaad. For example, the stuff with ken and shinjiro (i wont go into that stuff with shinjiro since its spoilers) It's seems like they're going to be bringing all of the QoL changes from each game, adding a new type of social link for the guys, voice acting on social links, and it appears like there's gonna be a bunch of new goodies. On top of the honestly fantastic new voicecast. Maybe the only odd new voice is akihiko, but im not gonna sit here and pretend the voice acting in the original was all that good. it was pretty spotty (which is putting it lightly), and they can't bring back the og va for junpei anyways. Idk i mean me personally, im only seeing positives, but i can completely understand how this would suck for people who are fans of the answer or femc. But reload is shaping up to be the best way to experience persona 3, at least in my opinion

I just saw P3 stream again. While its my favourite of the series.. P3 social links kinda sucks. I hope they rewrite everything. I'm okay if that's the reason why femc and the answer are no included. By rewrite, I mean like maybe include some of the movie stuff, make some dialogue better. I love to see improvement on all front. Maybe we could even actually play with Koro like pokemon camping or something 😂

This is how I see the difference between Makoto and Kotone (Male MC and FeMC respectively): P3, with its themes and story, is tailor-made for a character like Makoto, especially after the movies. Even without the movies, his character design would scream "Yes, I am indeed the main character with the really depressing backstory, and I have depression, but so what?" Kotone's introduction to us is a more peppy and bubbly way of looking at life, even the FeMC route's OST is VASTLY different from Makoto's playlist, if you will. Their Social Links vary in different ways, with both having questionable life choices (Looking at you, Kotone.) My point is that it would be hard to get Kotone without some sort of price because adding new voice lines, animations, UI, music, new models for FeMC and her various designs, along with a naginata which can basically be a spear, I guess (+ FeMC Orpheus), new dialogue, and new cutscenes, etc etc etc. That is going to take a lot of work for the Persona team. Developing a game, especially of this scale, is no easy matter. (And this is coming from someone who isn't even in the gaming industry, I'm just making what I think are logical arguments, but hey, I could be in the wrong.) In conclusion, while it is a shame that they couldn't re-write the Answer (which I'm kinda glad to see it go cuz I liked the original Persona 3's ending.) as well as not being able to add FeMC into P3R, I think the best course of action would be to just go with Makoto's story because he was essentially the 'blueprint'.

I get what you’re saying, but the thing with Kotone’s route is that the only things that would really need to be added are new dialogue for the different social links, new character models and animations for her, and a few songs that would be rearranged/changed. The vast majority of the other game assets between the two play styles are the same. And the thing is, if they’re charging a $60 price tag for this, the standard for remakes or ports nowadays is to include all of the content that was present in previous releases of the game. In reality, Atlus absolutely has the budget and resources to include Kotone’s route (the Answer would honestly probably take more development effort than her route would), it’s just that Atlus has this weird idea about keeping the game “pure” and misunderstood one of the main reasons a lot of people wanted a remake in the first place (to consolidate the content from FES and Portable to make a “definitive” P3.)

@@KitTheGoddess To be fair, ATLUS doesn't know that their games are even THAT popular One time, they were genuinely surprised that a Persona game was doing well, so that would explain a lot of their actions and how they usually second-guess themselves, as they put it But in any case, I'm seeing ATLUS releasing Kotone as a DLC route, it wouldn't be behind them if there'd be a lot backlash because they do listen to their audience, but they always second-guess themselves, again, as they put it (this can be seen in one of their interviews, I believe it was the one with Famitsu? But take that with a grain of salt) At the end of the day, I am grateful this game even got a remake to begin with, even with the obvious issue of no true definitive version Plus, at this point, I think they'll still do something with the Answer and FeMC, whether that be a Royal treatment or DLC or even a patch update, I don't think they'll just troll us and throw away these things, I believe in them But that's just me and you may believe in what you wish to believe

Can't wait to buy Persona 3 Reload on release, have them release day 1 DLC, and then 3 years down the line I gotta buy it all again if I want some 'quality of life' improvements. Even still, I’d much rather would isolate the issues of atlus and the game imo. The way I see it is yeah sure, it is upsetting that certain elements that some people love are absent but the quality of the game is still a thing we don’t know about as it isn’t out yet. There will still be some aspects of FES and P3P in the game anyway I believe. The title and thumbnail makes it sound like the game came out and by playing it, it sucks. The answer actually blows super hard so it not being included is honestly fine with me, I also don't think FEMC is better the male route. While it sucks that she won't be in the game I always preferred the male route social links if I'm being honest (I like Kenji lol). Male route still has some enjoyable social links (I'm personally a big fan of the Emperor, Star, Sun, Justice, and Devil social links while I am aware some of those also appear in the FEMC route). Also I doubt they'll remove that one transphobic scene from fes considering Royal still included that very obvious homophobic gay stereotypical couple so obviously someone at Atlus is still pretty bigoted. Either way at least for me I don't think not including the answer or FEMC disqualifies it from being the definitive version. It's still going to be the version I would recommend to people if I want people to experience one of my favorite games of all time.

Oh yeah, it not having those things definitely doesn’t disqualify it from being the best version of the game, it’s just that part of the reason so many people wanted a P3 remake is so that the best of both FES and Portable could be consolidated into a single release. That’s kind of the standard for remakes or rereleases nowadays anyway, to include any bonus content that previous releases of the games had. But Atlus is so out of touch with the modern gaming scene, and also so greedy, that I wouldn’t put it past them to either rerelease the game with this content only a few years down the line, or charge a ridiculous price for it as DLC, kinda like how they took the Dante stuff out of the SMTIII remaster and then sold it as DLC.

Damn, only had to look at the comics to see your main points, and they are the same ones everyone else has- Welp, let’s get this over with- Fem-C It was a great idea to include a female route in portable. Portable was a Dating Sim with a dollar store version of Tartarus strapped onto it. They needed to give fans a reason to play again. The only reason Fem-Worked is because it is easier to WRITE and make PS1-2 level character then it was to make the original. It was an add-on that, realistically, actually harmed the message of the game because you can save someone who was not meant to be saved just by doing that persons social link correctly. The Answer Altus isn’t THAT stupid. They are likely leaving out The Answer because it’s been the butt of so many jokes and bad reviews for about… um… SINCE IT CAME OUT?!? It may have “had potential”, but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t completely shit. Besides; they are(probably) adding MORE content, like they did with Royal. Seriously, how do so many people fall into the trap of thinking stuff being taken out of the game automatically makes it worse..? Let the developers cook!

The answer was kinda ass in terms of gameplay, not story. People like how it was epilogue to P3 but it was just kinda boring gameplay wise. I also think this should have been our definitive version. I understand not including the femc because they would also to do 2 separate versions of every animation. Modeling for and her animations, voice acting, etc. Potentially even changing the style of every menu to match her energy. I do wish they would include her, but I don’t think atlus would go through that trouble (even if i personally think it would do REALLY good if they did that). Like it would be worth it 100%. But like to not even include the social links? Thats content that will never be seen again, although the ken social link should stay dead. But everything else was fine, remove the romance option if they really hate the gays and girls that much. That seems like such a waste to me. And yea theres a bunch of boring ass social links in p3 that are significantly better with the femc. Im just really upset that you dont have it with your male party members. They said there would be something but idk man.

I think you're completley understestimating the time and money to build a game like this from scratch. The game as it currently is had a 4 year development cycle. It's understandable to me the desire to not extend it further for content that, frankly, won't help sell more copies. People will buy the game regardless if it had FeMC and the Answer or not.

I still believe that P3R will get a Royal expirence a couple years after, I'm probably going to hold off on buying it, wait for reviews like I did with P5 for Royal, also, never pre-order games, they try to entice you with extra stuff and FOMO, wait for reviews and other people to buy it before spending your freedom tokens on something that might not be good

I will say im someone who prefers to play as Makoto rather than Kotone ( for immersion) but Makotos social links SUCK. Atlus has to have been doubling down on stupid juice recently like im hype for the reload but i do not wanna talk to the gourmet king again. They shouldve at the bare minimum reworked the social links for the male mc if they werent gonna add kotone. Like come on Atlus how did you think this was a good idea?

Because altus misunderstands on what we want in persona 3 reload its atlus has a boner for makoto. Than again kotone's existence also made persona 3 special too

I really just think they plan on making Persona 3 Reload it's own brand that they have to market and capitalize on. They'll try to market Persona 3 like they did with Persona 4 and 5 XD To me, it's at least better than those Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes which are at this point, not ever gonna be completed because Gen 4 hype died... While I think ATLUS might try to make an Persona 3 TV anime, hopefully not as cheap like Persona 5's (SERIOUSLY THAT ANIME DID NOT EVEN HAVE THE PERSONA EVOLUTIONS, THAT'S A MAJOR RED FLAG BLACK SHEEP ^O^")

Idk. I'm disappointed in no FES and FeMC but im most disappointed in the changing of the english voices and the person that they higherd to "localize" a game that already has a english script... its Atlus and Atlus usa decisions that is the most disapointing

Actually, those decisions mostly make sense. From what I understand, the new English voice cast happened because a lot of the primary voice actors (primarily Yuri Lowenthal as the protagonist) had scheduling conflicts that prevented them from being available to record. Since the original Japanese cast is also re-recording the entire new script, recasting everyone made more sense. They’re also “re-localizing” the game because the script has been entirely rewritten. While the general story will be the same, all of the dialogue is being extensively rewritten, which is why it needs to be localized again.

@@KitTheGoddess This is not true. The script hasn't been rewritten, the japanese dialogs are the same word by word, you can check that by yourself. They are only adding new lines for the new SoL scenes, not changing the existing ones.

andd like with the nocturene remaster they messed with the lightining and pretty much messsed with the mood of persona 3 to make it more like 5. and all the chracters got recast. there are way more issues with this remake then just it lacking content from fes and p3p.

I just wish they didn't turn it into P5 wannabe too much. I personally still like the way the original P3FES S. Link went, really capture the whole highschool essence of hanging out with as many as possible and not just confining it to your party member exclusively. Also I PROFOUNDLY WISH THEY DIDN'T GO THE "NEED MC TO EVOLVE" TROPE! Like bruh, I only realized how much P4 and P5 casts depending on MC for their growth AFTER playing P3. It's like you can't grow as a person without the help of the MC.
