Great info Josh. Interested to know which gloves you use. I have been through heaps of brands in the boat as well as at work and I'm beginning to think a pair of gloves that are waterproof, warm and durable don't exist outside pairs like my boarding gloves that make my hands feel like the michelin man and prevent the finesse required to tie knots etc. Also new subscriber here bud. Cheers.
@fishinjosh6 ай бұрын
Legend mate thanks heaps! Yer I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there, I’ve tried so many pairs now and just keep going back to my anaconda home brand ski gloves, there pretty thick but can still cast in the easily and most important they’re super warm. You can navigate changing a lure with a clip while wearing them but you’re no chance at tying a knot haha

I think I've made every mistake mentioned here haha sure wish I'd seen this before my first winter dan cod fish. Only other tip is some of those hot hands hand warmers in the back of your gloves keeps the feeling in your fingers a little longer. 👍

@@mattshaw9779 hey mate! I’ve done some asking around and can’t seem to find anyone that stocks the swimbait models online. Do you have a store that stocks Dobyns near you? @fishinjosh yeah it's my 4th Calcutta, bought the BFS a couple of weeks ago an going to give it a run on the yellas on the weekend, you using 30lb, an do you go straight to the lure because that'll be a big knot in using a leader ?
@fishinjosh6 ай бұрын
@@damonsimovic6638 shit yer! The BFS is an awesome bit of kit man, to be fair I don’t think you can really go wrong with any of the conquests haha. Yep I’m just running straight to a lure clip and onto the lure, I do know a few people that run 50 or 60lb bite leaders but until I get a fish chew through the 30lb I’ll just keep doing it like that.

Yes im with you, dont like watching fishing in the dark. Also in low light the gopros absolutely suck and it kight as well be dark.
@fishinjosh6 ай бұрын
The only decent ones I’ve seen are where people put a livescope screen recording in and turn a light on as soon as they hook up but I’d still much rather watch a daytime vid. You’re not wrong about low light GoPro either 😂

Not really relevant to your video content ,but worth a thought none the less , fishing Pindari dam once a week before the cold temps set in my friend and I were catching a lot of large catfish that had been monstered by cod , top fin nearly torn off , sandpapered belly and various other injuries, we have seen this before in copeton but nothing like the numbers in Pindari, my point is a lot of anglers shy off big lures ,they are only jelly beans for big cod ,and will still get a reaction through aggression when their not hungry , and you are correct in saying cod are all over copeton and all other dams , there are no secret spots or lures , cheers on a good vid .
@fishinjosh6 ай бұрын
You’re dead right mate! I really don’t think there are many lures too big for the cod, especially when it’s a strike out of aggression. Are they eel tail or fork tail catties? I’ve seen the Barra in callide eat the eel tail before but haven’t heard much about forkies getting munched!
@gremlinfishing42866 ай бұрын
@@fishinjosh EEL Tail , there are no forkies this far south ,probably the main diet as far as fish go in any of the dams in northern NSW , A cod in copeton would only have to swim 6 body lengths to fill up on catfish and Bobby cod , there are millions of them . 👍
