Let's Talk Lupus with Wendy: Loneliness through the Season

It is a long video, perhaps the longest I have shared with you but also is the one that I can express what sometimes is not talked about. Through this season is it very understandable the rollercoaster of emotions for many people. The happiness of being surrounded by family and friends, the peace of having the warmth of sharing memories but also, the sadness of being by yourself in a different country or city, the loneliness feeling from losing someone, and the list can go on.
Today, I wanted to talk about how it was for me at the beginning of spending many Holiday Season far from my family and friends, alone in a new country (by choice yes). How my flares presented after a few weeks of that and what I did to create a bit of balance and joy within my world (a choice too).
It has been a minute for me to find a balance between my level of exhaustion and my sadness for feeling alone during this time and then to deal with the flares that will come. It has taken some time to build a group of friends and chosen family (my partner and his family) to whom I can celebrate and gather to share memories. It has been a work in progress to get out of my introverted personality and to manage my level of energy so I can create new traditions.
Know you are not alone in this, feeling lonely through this Season. Also, I would like you to know that it is a choice to create a different environment if the one you have is not bringing you a smile to your face, it won't be easy (nothing in life really is) but you can change it.
