I also have a difficult time doing negative reviews, mostly because I always want to look on the positive side of things and talk about the things I love rather than the things I’m meh about. So there are a lot of handhelds I haven’t reviewed yet because I haven’t found anything great about them I want to share with the world. I appreciate your honesty, friend, and the opportunity to hear your perspective on something that may or may not affect me in the future.

I have no idea if my opinion is unique or not. But I believe that as long as a reviewer is prioritizing honesty, then it's totally fine to get all sorts of sponsorships when/if they come up. Get paid King! After all, if the honest guys aren't willing to get these deals and expand, the dishonest guys sure will and further dilute these good conversation points while they are at it.

Wow. You have given me a perspective I could never have gotten to on my own. That is such a positive and healthy way of looking at this. Honestly, thank you.

Honestly lad with the number of creators out there I don't know how you differentiate short of creating some sort of slam channel. It's a brutal landscape right now for creators. BTW, Google search is not helping you folks either unless you supply Google with a whole bucket load of Do-Re-Mi. Thanks for the honesty.

I choose to be blind to the “slamming” culture. I default to seeing the good in everything and everyone. Still, life has ways of bringing forward opposite mindsets, as if to recruit and instill new ways of thinking… I still don’t know how I feel about putting this video out but much like when making a review, I hope to be the fairest I can be, and hopefully this discussion helps me be better for the future.

I watched this video and I read the transcript after it was done. I still don't fully understand your problem or, perhaps more accurately, what you think your problem is. The short version is that from my perspective you don't have a problem. You're running this channel in a responsible and respectable manner, and I hope that you don't change things out of peer pressure. To put it somewhat bluntly; my subscriptions are set to public and if you check them out you'll see that there's a few big names in this hobby that I'm willfully not subscribed to. I am subscribed to you. As you said in this video; there's a lot of options on KZbin for gaming content. If I wanted to watch someone like those other people, I'd be subscribed to those other people. As far as sponsors go, gather them like Maple Leafs fans gather excuses. As long as you're open about where the product(s) and channel funding came from then who cares? This is how the game has been played in review media since before there was a KZbin. We all know the score. As long as you don't allow sponsorships from dictating what you say then I doubt if anyone will care.

First of, thanks Matt for taking the time to offer your perspective. And after you have, I can understand why seeing a video like that from me must've been a: "Wait, what, why?" kind of moment. Truth is, I was hesitant of ever uploading it and when I did, I regretted pretty much immediately, but because of the nature of it, I thought it'd only be worst if I removed it right after. With that said, the few people that have taken the time to respond did help me a great deal to broaden my own perspective of my own venture of building this channel off the ground, amongst other things. Ultimately, I understand more and more that I addressed an underlying issue, unbeknownst to me at the time, from past traumas completely unrelated to what this is. So in the interest of owning up to my mistakes, growing up and becoming better always, I apologize. This was a video that did not need to be made, did not need to be published and time out of anyone else who watched I did not need to "take". Intentionally or not, the ones and you that have commented helped me turn this moment of confusion into one that I'll build off of to mature in this venture, and for that I am eternally grateful. Thanks for being here Matt and for being blunt when needed, one has to care to show up in those kinds of ways and you have so, thank you!

Weird, I been thinking about this lately. KZbin tapping into my brain waves. I'm an information addict and this sponsor stuff is ruining it. I started calling out some videos that seem like they are not saying its sponsored. I can always appreciate the sponsorships that let you say whatever you want. Hopefully you can get some of those. I hope you're Apex 4 info a fake paid sponsorship. Maybe Apex seller will give you sponsorship since it lets you be honest and its actually a great product. Underrated channel. (Not a sponsored comment)

😂😂 That perfect ending to your comment! Thanks for the kind words, it means so much! And to openly answer your question, no it was not sponsored (Apex 4's review and any other time I mentioned it). I have never done sponsored content either, only had opportunities come up as ad placements that I backed out of. I am not interested at making content where I am obligated to say anything, or content where I'm forced to omit saying certain things either, two distinctions that are important IMHO. As for sponsored paid ad, I'm not opposed to that, I needed to warm myself up to the idea and as much as this video felt like a mistake at the moment of release, it helped me open my mind. Thanks for your inputs Groot, it's exactly through those conversations that I can better define my stance.
