It’s worth noting, that while within the Poxbringer’s 6” bubble, Nurgle Daemons get +1 damage on wound rolls of 6+. A nice little pip to single damage weapons.

I think the plaguespitters are in case anything gets too close, I would be inclined to just park them somewhere far from the enemy and rely on the mortar, anything that comes too close can be dealt with by the other weapons.

I’m building a mainly melee chaos army but wanted something at the back to fire from a range while my berserkers do the work, this a good recommendation?

Would need to include them in a Death Guard detachment. If your looking for a long range artillity unit there are probably better options for you.

Myphitic Blight-haulers are the answer to knights and tanks. They are fast attack, and each have multi melta and frag/krak missile launchers.

we ally with thousand sons for mortal wound spam or just ignore them. FW dreads are also good but they are mostly good against heavy infantry.

Against Knights your best bet would be to make it as difficult as possible for them to hit your units, Miasma of Pestilence works wonders and most of the Dark Hereticus psychic powers are extremely beneficial when it comes to adding that extra kick to your damage output. Prescience is your friend, as the PBC’s kinda need that +1 to hit rolls. Furthermore I would probably recommend a Dark Apostle, especially as you can choose whether or not to use him in a way which can give you an extra +1 to hit rolls or make it even harder for your opponent to hit you on an additional -1 which stacks with Miasma. That makes a unit of PBC’s at -2 to hit or +2 to hit depending on what you need. If you want long range support (which I would not recommend against Knights) then the +2 to hit rolls would be better, if not, then use the -2 to hit with Miasma of Pestilence and Benediction of Darkness. Alternatively, you could use 30 Plaguebearers or some other deep striking unit, if possible try to tarpit them in place as it’ll give the rest of your army a chance to move up. Edit: It turns out you can't use PotDG on them, I was wrong. Now they've also capped -1/+1 to hit in 9th edition, so Miasma of Pestilence will still be very useful. Then again, using Cloud of Flies stratagem if they aren't the closest unit is always strong too.
