👍👍👍👍👍- Wow, a lot of good info. The reason for the placement (on the top vs the top front) is great info. The temp closest to the food is definitely is the reading you want.

I think I'm going to do just this on my Q2000. But I'll paint it at the same time to get that paint on the metal after drilling. Thanks for the video!

Did you use a masonry bit on that last hole?

Yes

Nothing like using a masonary bit on aluminum! What a hack!!

Thanks, my Weber Q1000 could use a thermometer. Weber customer service told me the Q1200 lid would not fit, but not surprised that it would. Also, what is your preferred way of removing shavings?
@GallaghersGrub2 жыл бұрын
Just push the shavings out the grease hole in the bottom of the grill. Cheers Rick!

Pull out the 2 Cotter Hairpin and knock out the pins, then take off the lid - simple, no metal shavings 🤦♂️

If the grate is out don’t worry about them. It’s the steel brush that you might use to clean your grate that could kill you if you digest a bristle 😳.

How accurate are the smaller Weber thermometers? Also, what's the best way to get rust off of Q100 grates?
@GallaghersGrub2 жыл бұрын
The thermometers seem fairly accurate when clean. They do get grease build up and that can affect the temp readings. For rust on your grates, I would oil, heat and scrape, repeat. Cheers!

@@GallaghersGruband use your grill often. I love my old thick cast iron grate. I don’t think you could ever get it to rust unless you burned all my 15 years of seasoning off You shocked me when you said rust. Literally the only thing that could rust is the grate. I keep a spare igniter/ burning tube and regulator for spares. I should be using this grill another well rather the rest of my life!!! I’m 60. Been through many grills but these are hands down the best ever.

Does the probe on the aftermarket thermometer hit the food i.e. big roast. Can it be shortened?

I'm not sure. Please join the Facebook Weber Q group, and ask Sean the moderator.

This was good. However with the low costs and ease of use why not just use a remote probe thermometer. Better a two probe. One for ambient temperature. The other meat temperature. No drilling, just slide probes from sides. Place ambient probe where you wish to measure temperature. I prefer the remotes that use your cell phone for a receiver.

I've been looking at the Meater for the Kamado. Not sure I'd put one on the Weber Q grates though.
@victorbenner5392 жыл бұрын
@@GallaghersGrub the only application I consider for the meater is if using a rotisserie. I've heard more problems than successes with the meater. But I have had no experience with them.

@@GallaghersGrub Use a Thermoworks Smoke or a Maverick, great probes.
