In the UK at the Oct price cap it’s 0.34 x 50 = £17.00 per hour for a full hours keydown at 100% efficiency. Assuming amp is 50% efficient then £34/hr. At 30% talking per hour then about a tenner/hour. 3 phase prices might vary……

My entire house mains electricity supply is 14kW. Do these guys pay for a industrial mains supply just to see a higher S meter reading (and some terrible audio)? And interfere with 100's of people who they will never hear. Far, far better to increase your aerial and receiver performance than increase your transmitter output.

It’s kind of like what it takes to win a “Cannonball Run Challenge” . The amount of preparation, knowledge, calculation , determination, passion, and just pure luck at times , and “Mother Nature” which could be actual weather or in this case , DX conditions . The speed limit is only 70/80 mph on the interstate , but to win they’re running 160 plus at times . Well these guys are the Cannonball Run of CB , they’ve mastered their craft , and they’re enjoying that 160 mph plus feeling at times watching all the gauges on the dash , in tune with what’s going on , listening to feedback of the car and the road . Best way I can describe it layman’s terms . Either you get it or you don’t . It’s just a hobby , but to these guys and like a few more , it’s an art and a passion they’ve worked hard to excel in . It’s not just something they do , it’s who they are and have become , and very successful at it .

The amount of over-modulation i hear! If someone is running big power it's better to back off the mic gain, a-lot. Where do you find 50Kw of electricity? Batteries? My house is limited to 6Kw with my current plan. Obviously decent batteries can be constantly charged and up the available power. The way everyone is trying to talk over each other. So CB. lol What antenna can handle 60Kw?

What kind of antenna are you running that can withstand 50 kilowatts, the only antennas I've ever seen design for that were Giant log periodic, that were custom made by Harris. Or straight up vertical broadcast hours. Please enlighten this engineer, would love to know how you guys are doing this. Is power levels are insane, I thought it was something special when I got to run 10 kilowatts on a TMC transmitter, on citizens band for a few minutes. As a test, but you guys seem to do this like you're talking next door. So again please inform in school here, really would love to know what kind of antennas and how you guys pull this off. The FCC is too busy chasing down pirate FM radio stations in New york, and trying to regulate the internet. The only thing they enforce is when someone has money at stake. And since citizens band is not interrupting any commercial broadcasters cash flow they're not going to do much about it. They might bust one station every decade or so just to make him seem like they're doing something. But the FCC is nothing like they were in the 1970s. Most cities don't even have field offices

Equivalent for Watts DC into the output stage, for a RF output of 3 watts into 50 ohms. Was the standard for Citizens Band radio. It's like the posted speed limit, if you choose to go over it it's up to you, and and that you're lucky every time, because they only have to be lucky one time.
