It’s there for you to fulfill your munchie cravings in the late afternoon or late at night. I only get Oreo milkshake, curly fries, and tacos/loaded tacos from there for that purpose😆

Used to work at Jack in the Crack. Yeah, our meat is pretty meh, but I would warn anyone that your meat, if you order anything with a jumbo patty, is probably not up to health code, I know way too many people where I worked where they would make an entire grill of patties (24-32) and shove them into the warmers and keep them there until they are almost out and just repeat instead of making small batches during downtime and somewhat larger batches during the rush. Kinda makes sense though, you get yelled at if you're waiting around for patties on the grill. The thing about their tacos is that 1) when you order anything more than one set of two tacos, literally anyone who is working on the fryers hates you guts and 2) they're only good for 5 minutes before the edge turns to a thick restaurant tortilla chip and the center with the meat gets disgustingly soggy and the lettuce wilts to ever living hell. The Best Shake is not on the menu, we call it the cheesecake shake, you throw a cheesecake into a large and then mix it in with the shake machine and you have an extra thick but monumentally delicious shake (moderate or you're gonna get fat). Chicken tater melt is one of their best items but it feels so wrong. Honestly, I forgot we even sold salads. Egg rolls and Churros are pretty decent options I enjoy, all things considered. You get one of two types of people in Jack in the Crack: The lazy employee who just throws the bacon in the microwave and has it done in 6 minutes, floppy as it is. Or you get the one that painstakingly takes an hour to slowly cook the sheets of ~12 slices 2 at a time while in middle of a rush because the previous line cook didn't make bacon before leaving their shift. Jack in the Crack has average fried chicken. Tiny tacos suffer similarly to the tacos, but if you get the loaded ones, get a fork Teriyaki bowls are honestly not bad, but everyone on shift hates making it because each bag of rice needs to be cooked for 2 and a half minutes in the microwave AND THEN you have to cook the teriyaki sauce and chicken separately for 2 and a half minutes, at best there are only 2 microwaves on set, but they're almost never properly cleaned so eat at your own peril. OH GOD THE FUCKING PITA, don't get me started on the pita, I hate you for having ordered it, I hate everyone who has ever ordered it, and I have a small voice in my head wanting to find and kill everyone who ever plans on ordering it.

I work at one which was severely understaffed. There was this saturday where it was just me and the woman on the grill. I had to jump from the drive thru, to the front counter, to the fryers sometimes and bag the stuff. Point being, stupid tacos are time consuming asf, when people asked for more than 4 I would just say we were out for the day lol.

It really just comes down to location and franchise. I worked at one in a nicer area and was surprised at the mix of decisions. Rice was in a rice cooker. Bacon fried on the grill but kept in the warmer. Depending on the shift lead patties were fresh or a bad lead who wants good speed metrics would really try to use the warmers. Heavy emphasis on the shift leads. Fav lead was relaxed and backed me on not letting mistakes going out the window. The worst lead would see mistakes in an order and count on a customer not wanting to bother coming back, so I had to stare him down and take an order back so it can be fixed in front of a customer. Same as many fast food places, you will get those who think speed is the only metric worth checking (low ratings) or those who make sure you get repeat customers. They really should push the free style coca cola promotions more when they have them, there are in fact sample cups for a reason.

I started going to Jack in the Box as a depraved joke years ago. Like it's kinda seen as the nastiest fast food, slightly above Arby's, so it was funny to me to get it. But then I actually started to like it. This is when they just started selling the munchie meal, and it was like $5 for a burger, 2 horrible yet amazing tacos, fries, and a drink. Every J&B connoisseur knows the secret sauce is where it’s at. Also, NEVER order their burgers with ketchup or mustard. Add those to your bites. And…the tacos grade higher with added taco sauce. The beauty in Jack in the Box is that it is all average, but I can't think of a fast food place or hell even most restaurants that hit as many different styles of comfort food as Jack. Pretty sure the “meat” in the tacos is some type of soy substitute meat. Throw some of Jack’s hot sauce on them.. and on the app they’re 2 for $1.. S tier

Late night Jack taco runs are fun. An old roommate I had years ago called them Grease Pockets to the point he accidentally ordered them as that once. They aren't great, but sometimes all you want is a couple of grease pockets.
