Remember the torque multiplier I bought before the BLM job? well lets try it out on the CAT 336E, ( time to do some sketchy shit, do daa, hope we get away with it do da) got some broken pad bolts that probably got broke when I was out in the Snake River, and we move to another job on the snake river to install some rock barbs www.google.com...

O' ICWeld reminds me of an old fella on the N.Slop, when I was just knee high to a tall assed Indian. Hi, looking at your torque multiplier reminded me of the assembly tightness required on the quarter segments on bolting up everything with special nuts and bolts on rolls Royce Industrial gas turbine casings on stages 1 and 2. made from cast MULTIMET coming in at over 2 tons but weighing just less than 1 ton after i finish machined them, the bolts needed a double barrelled 6 foot long torque wrench with a lump of scaffold tube on it done up to 1600 foot pounds torque.... Without the long tube, I`m no lightweight but hanging on the torque wrench just never got it to click- lol so, the scaffold tube was in fact a torque multiplier I guess - lol good video, thank you - Ian - uk.

First torque multiplier I used was on R model Mack rear springs the boss had me heat those u bolts up cherry red then torque to 700 ft lbs ashe bolts cooled you sure could here those springs coming together lol

Track bolts are usually torque turn and torqued lubed with oil. Radius edges on the nuts against the rail for forging irregularity.

I purchased a torque multiplier from Amazon and it is amazing my wife can crack the duals on a 300 hp JD or the tires on my road tractor. Hard to believe but it works this has no cheater pipes,you would like it. Also less than $100.00 I paid 60 5 years ago including a variety of sockets

you gotta idle your equipment at a higher rpm and the def system wont have to regen so much the emissions system is mostly used at idle

Cat std is 3 threads out of the nut min. Don't remember track bolt being any different. Love seeing UC work. Did a lot of it. Thanks for keepin the channel going while the government takes control of our lives.

My friend just got a brandy new Cat 390, I think it is the FL, excavator and he said that it doesn’t have enough counter weight on it too. I’ll have to go and run it a bit to see if he knows what he is doing.

One thing you can do to stop the regens is run full throttle more often. If you run at three quarter it can't get the dpf hot enough.

If the 336E is going into regen often and is due the 5000hr spark plug change then it will also need the DPF cleaning or a reman fitted. We look after a BZY prefix for a customer. It now has over 10000 hrs and with the recommended maintenance has been pretty much trouble free.

@@Jpaydirt Are you expecting it to fail? There were some problems with the coolers about 10 years ago caused by debris from the exhaust manifolds but your machine should be new enough not to be affected.

Just asking question, when you change BOLT is it better on drive system like you do or when track is half way through machine, where there's more room, is it becouse it easier to TORQUE on drive sprocket like you do, just for my learning, you help me so much, wish I could come see you sometime, give you my body to abuse anyway you see fit. Gosh I could learn so much more from you, the GRADER part about how to properly grade a gravel road and more importantly the LARGE rocks that couse problems with the pull out of material. by the way, when you use the oxy to cut metal, the OXYGEN is in effect erroding it away!!, the heat allows this process to hapen like in chemistry lessons, the heat provides the energy for the reaction to occur, it is the added oxy (from the big lever on the tip, NOT the other knob, this just controls the amount of oxygen allowed through the "main jets", the basic mix controls on the main handle control the flame colour (reducing/normal/oxydising) through the "pre-heat" jets), you can demonstrate this by shutting the flame off, and just adding the oxygen from the lever, the metal still is cutting:-)

Must be a mighty tiny recreational cutting torch to have taken that long before you could cut that bolt. 15-20 seconds tops, not a minute plus to cut a bolt that size. You should invest in a professional cutting torch. You'll use a little less acteline and save time. You might try using a hotter flame, too. I "been there done that" as an on location/in the field fabrication welder, and heavy equipment (mostly cranes, car crushers, and articulated end loaders) mechanic back in the 1970's.

If it was me I would take a copy of both letters and notes and send it back to them trying to make sure that only the president or CEO of the company Reed's all of it together. This is the problem with big companies is emails to many different people and everything in this world gets effed up because of the way things are done. The head man in the head man only can truly is the only one that can make the decision with all the facts. In your cover letter tell him what you're pissed about and I would say I'm more pissed off about caterpillar not listening to my concerns then I am a spending $120,000 for a machinist Tippy it's going to hurt the resale value. And then to add insult to injury you do not listen to my concerns. Tell him that you have it KZbin channel and what it is and that you had mentioned and showed the letters on KZbin and you had fans answer back get when you buy a new caterpillar machine the expected to be engineered and that includes putting a proper counterweight on or not selling the extended boom and Dipper without making sure the right counter way it was on that is what the expect from Caterpillar is an engineered machine from front to back. And when caterpillar gets back in touch with me I will tell all my fans what the outcome was or if you still don't give a damn. Tell them that you would like a sit-down meeting at their expense to talk about this subject. And if they don't want to do that extending the new machine won't warranty on the said machine would be too little too late but at least since the machine is Miss Matched the counterweight and the extended Gipper and boom do do not following your own engineering specs and putting on a heavier counterweight I'd be covered for another year hey some trouble shows up. I'm not telling you what to do I'm just saying that's what I would do I am hopping at their response which wasn't even a Band-Aid to the problem that they did not listen to you and sent the response that they did unexcusable. During the spring/summer months the speed limit was '3 mph' for several miles for some particular dragon fly. And year round had to use engines from the 1950s because they had drip pans built in, they kept them around just for this move. Yah know, spotted owl stuff!
