Maybe move the cells together 2 and 2 and have them share a wall? And then do the entrences on the left/right insted of all on the left. Then you can almost put in a extra set on both the north and south side. An entrence in fence at the end of every canteen would make it easier to deliver food, but might decrease security...

You could use the middle box for kitchen, like you said. BUT, have it be on the left side of the doors and split the right side so one is a cleaning cupboard and another being a laundry. Just a thought :>

As an alternative to the individual cells, in order to make some money, you could have 3 dorms on each side;1 per gang. Size them for 20 inmates or so comfortably, though this would probably mean separate solitary. That'd put you at 120 prisoners before any expansion rather than 14. Also, any areas that the inmates have access to that provides contraband could do with a checkpoint couplet into/out of it.

Here me out: the whole town prison idea where what prisons are actually like. If we actually want to rehabilitate these prisons teach then teach them to live as a contributing member of a controlled society so they hopefully can in normal society. Anyone agree?
