I had a similar problem with my sewing machine and I was going crazy. I called my mom who has several machines and uses at least one of them every day, usually for several hours. She said “thread the machine again. If that doesn’t work, look up your specific machine on KZbin.” I was not happy with that answer but I did it anyway and… it worked. Take the thread all the way out, top and bottom, then thread your machine again. According to my mom that solves 90% of all sewing machine problems. Even if you have done it before, try again! That’s what I did and it totally worked.

@@SevenplazaCreative google your make and model and what’s happening. Surprisingly there are people who post videos for sewing issues too. The other thing that gives me a problem on occasion is the bobbin. If rethreading does not work I redo the bobbin next. The tiniest thing can throw the tension off but one of those is usually the culprit. My older machine only likes metal bobbins and won’t sew with one of those plastic ones. Good luck.
@ArtandSoul105092 жыл бұрын
I had that problem too and I saw somewhere there is a sensor under the bottom of the bobbin in my machine and it gets dusty from the paper fibers so I popped out the bobbin and bobbin casing and gently vacuumed it out and….tada! Back in business. Check your machines manual, these electronic machines are sensitive, the older machines are better and may look around for one. Less parts, less problems:) Good luck!
@kimhanback130210 ай бұрын
Also, check to see if the bobbin is placed in the machine correctly. If that bobbin is the least but put in wrong, the tension will be all kinds of wonky.

I love how you open your videos with a beautiful visual...a bundle of coordinating supplies just sitting artistically on your desk in the opening frame. I've been watching Julie too, I love her she's bonkers! 😂 I don't really do Christmas crafting...a bit here and there, as in papercrafting Christmas stuff. But the last few years I've made all my decorations in a different theme each year. Last year was Natural Woodland, but I don't even think I'll bother putting up the tree this year. I split from my husband in January after he'd ruined my Christmas completely, not just because of that, lots of things. But yeah I'm on my own now so it'll just be another day to me. I do have a grown daughter who's married with 5 children, only 5 minutes from me. But she's not talking to me. Long ongoing issues with her, and she'd wanted me to throw my abusive husband out ages ago, but I didn't think I could cope on my own. I have no immunity due to the drugs I have to take for multiple autoimmune conditions. I'm at home most of the time and limited physically. I was broken down emotionally and felt I needed him. But yeah, instead of supporting me....like I have always supported her, she's been more criticising me, when I already felt low! So yeah, I won't even see my grandchildren open their presents from me. 😥 It is what it is. So yeah.... I have no idea where that all flowed from! 😳 That was not my intention at all. Oh well, better out, than in. That's my long winded reason I don't do Christmas crafts really...and won't even do Christmas at all this year. I look on the bright side as much as possible...who knows, maybe it'll turn out to be a blessed relief without the cost and stress and expectations? Might be! Anyway, let me just STFU now ok! Enough waffling from me. I'll be quiet now and pay attention. 😁😁😁 ❤️

Tension issues may be the bobbin tension rather than the top tension. And I agree with other comment on rethreading machine solving a lot of issues. Check your manual for instructions for adjusting tension. Looking at past sewing attempts on your projects I do think it's tension or feed dog position. Hope that helps.
@carriew.45002 жыл бұрын
I agree and i had troubles before and i learned from scrapbooker Merci Tiara on KZbin that the bobbin holder could need cleaning. Even if it looks clean to the naked eye. Doesn't take a lot to keep the bobbin thread from releasing at a different speed (im not a pro at sewing machines and don't know the terminology). Try taking out bobbin and blowing out the compartment if other tips don't work. She also takes her machine somewhere to get it serviced. General maintenance of cleaning and lubricating parts. Says they get dirty inside really easily. Thats been her experience. It has worked for me. Another great tutorial Margaret. I adore you and your projects. I love this project and have been struggling on to store different ephemera. Now I have your idea to play with!!!!
@SevenplazaCreative2 жыл бұрын
The machine is new and hardly been used. The bobbin however is just complete loose in its compartment. I think that could be the problem . Or it’s still just me 🤣
@christinamain28292 жыл бұрын
About that bobbin tension setting...the problem could be wirhin the bobbin itself? There is a screw that can be adjusted on the casing. I saw a video can't remember who but the best way I can describe it is: remove the bobbin casing from the machine keeping the threaded bobbin inside. Pick it up by the thread suspending the casing and check the tension. The thread should hold and support the bobbin. Adjust that screw so the tension is not too tight or too loose. Gosh I hope that makes sense? I am not a seamstress and i only sew paper but I was having tension problems too and this solved my problem. Oh yeah afterwards you will need to play with that tension setting on the machine to your liking. Hope this helps
@SevenplazaCreative2 жыл бұрын
My machine is plastic , but it holds the bobbin with a magnet . It’s just a very rubbish cheap one ( and I’m just not patient enough to be bothered with it anymore ) 😂

31:17 When putting glue around the edges of something, and you want a really nice straight "X" distance from the edge, rest the paper holding hand on the table, and with the hand holding the glue bottle, put your pinky finger down onto the table surface, keep the paper still, and run the glue down the edges; the pinky finger will go along smoothly, and your glue hand fingers will use the edge to help keep the required distance from there, and it will run perfectly straight (or follow the lines of the cut paper). It's how you can draw a straight line near the edge of anything with a pencil too. The paper/card is kept still, and the drawing/glue hand can follow the edges. Keep the glue bottle tip at the same angle all along. Get to the corner, paper hand turns the paper, and glue bottle hand sweeps down the next edge and so on. (not that wobbly lines matter but sometimes being more precise is desired. Helps people with shaky hands too.) P.S. So many great tips! I can't do "splattering" either, so the paint stamp method is brilliant! Really enjoying your process, and techniques.
@SevenplazaCreative2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a good technique, but also a lot of work 🤣
@Kayenne542 жыл бұрын
@@SevenplazaCreative It saves your wrists. Or at least the one holding the paper steady. It also sounds more complicated than it is. Hold paper, glue hand rest pinky finger on table, move pinky finger hand with glue down the paper, using other fingers on moving hand to keep the same distance all the way down. My mother used to make the "Sale!" type signs in retail stores (before outsourcing them all to printers - "commercial artist"). All shop signs used to be done by hand. It's a way to keep the borders the same distance when marking card or paper with anything without having to measure, but I've used it with the glue, especially the fine line glues. You have more control over glue positioning, basically. It's exactly like putting the tip of your pointer finger and thumb on the edge of the paper, and running it down. Except you're holding the glue dispenser. Hope that makes sense. The pinky finger bent but extended a little (like posh people drink tea!) provides stability. I'll have to figure out a way to make a video of it. Like those folk who can instantly thread a needle. Harder to explain than show. It's basically a very fast hack for putting glue down, especially when it's a fine line and you want it close to the edge and relatively straight.

No, the machine is basically new. It is a very cheap one . I have given up 😞
@wandaspencer95232 жыл бұрын
Never touch the tension unless you are changing the weight of the thread. If the top thread is looping, the bobbin may be threaded incorrectly. Consult your manual. It the bobbin thread is loose or bunching, rethread your top spool. Always consult your manual. There are other trouble shooting things you can explore if these two things are not helping. Good luck, and keep trying!
