4:42 In all my times of living here, I have only seen the wind mill work once. Because it costs too much to take it down, it still stands today. Being useless.

That's a shame! I wonder how much money it would take to get the wind mill work again?

@@scottman895, depends on how much the nursing home has. The idea was to have the wind mill to lower the cost of electricity by generating their own. Last I check, the U.P. has the second highest electricity cost in the county, so anything to lower the price would be good. But since it has not been fixed yet and we are going through hard times. I doubt it will not be fixed in years to come. Though that is one of the more morden facts of Ishpeming and not at all interesting. The most interesting fact that I know of occurred in 1912 shortly after Theodore Roosevelt left Ishpeming after giving a speech. An Editor for the Iron Ore paper wrote an article called "The Roosevelt Way" which accused Roosevelt of being drunk. When Roosevelt heard of the news after waking in the hospital due to the failed assassination attempt, he retuned to the U.P. and sued the Editor. The court case occurred in Marquette. "When Teddy came to town" is the name of the book about this event.

@@benalor1973 I agree. I don't think anything will happen to it for quite a while. I never knew about that with Theodore Roosevelt heading there. That is very interesting!

I was born in Ishpeming however never grew up there, never even been there since my birth. However this July I’m trying to make plans to visit there to make a homecoming.

Thinking about visiting. It's not racist there is it?

It shouldn't be. Towns in Michigan have always seemed very welcoming to everyone.
