Great video showcase of the UP, all of those places are awesome. Don't forget the city of Marquette which is surprisingly urban and hip for the UP. Lots of great restaurants and microbreweries and remnants of its industrial past, the ore dock, etc. Also great nature stuff like Sugarloaf, Black Rocks, and a huge mountain bike infrastructure...

For the uninformed, trolls live "below" the bridge (south of the Mac Bridge). I'm a troll and love the U.P. Thanks for the list. Two places on it, and my bucket list, that I'm hitting this summer.

I grew up just outside Detroit and the UP was always a favorite. When we lived in Los Angeles we took our old winnebago across the country and I took the family through the UP. Were full time now and went through Michigan this year. We didn't have much time in the UP but stayed near Munising. We went to Whitefish Point, Newberry, Grand Marais and took the pictured rocks boat tour as you suggested in another video. You didn't mention Macinac fudge. We then went West through the Dakota's and are now on our way slowly to Ft Meyers Florida for our second winter. Many other stories to tell from Michigan but not now.

I have a funny story about that place. This was over 10 years ago. The owner (an older gentleman) wanted us to meet a pair of cubs. As soon as he let us in their enclosure they immediately came to us sucking on our arms and fingers. They were strong and practically knocked me over. It didn't hurt, but they mauled me all over with their dirty paws to the point they were pulling my v-neck shirt lower and lower. The older man stood outside the pen laughing gleefully enjoying the show! I think he set us up and it made me wonder how many times he pulled that with people. Afterwards I realized my favorite shirt was ruined from all the mud they got on me. But when I looked at my photos I saw I had a perfectly timed photo of a cub smacking my then husband in the family jewels and his face that followed. I still laugh when I think of it (sorry men)! 😂😂😂

I am from the Keweenaw area (It is also pronounced KEE-win-naw, NOT key-we-naw as someone in the comments said. Your pronunciation of the area seemed correct by me.) I suggest that you head up to Copper Harbor especially if you ever return in the fall. There's a place called Brockway Mountain, you are able to easily see the colors from there. I also suggest that you go and see the Calumet Theatre, the interior design of the building is quite beautiful.

When you come back to the porkies make sure to stay at Sunday Lake Campground in Wakefield. Indianhead Mountain, Blackjack Mountain, and Powderhorn Mountain are within 10 minutes. We have Copper Peak, North America's largest ski jump. It's just a few miles away in Ironwood. Just past Copper Peak are 5 different waterfalls known as "Black River Falls". They consist of Gorge Falls, Rainbow Falls, Potawatomi Falls, Conglomerate Falls and Sandstone Falls. Just past the falls is Black River Harbor. There's a great walking trail that leads you across Black River via a suspension bridge that leads you to the shore of Lake Superior. Gogebic County has the Iron Belle Bike Trail and over 100 miles of ATV and snowmobile trails. Stop and tour the Stormy Kromer factory in Ironwood and eat at Suffolk Street Eatery. Across the street is Rigoni's bakery where Bob and Paula have been making the best pasties for over 50 years. Come see me in Bessemer at one of the most historic stores in the U.P.! Abelman Clothing and Footwear has been in business since 1887 and has a very nostalgic feeling. ❤

You should go to Bessemer, go north on Black River road to Lake superior. There are water falls almost all the way, but the best spot is stopping at COPPER PEAK and going to the top of the ski hill. What a sight.

And I loved your bloopers at the end: when you're in the U.P (or anywhere in Michigan) be sure to say "PASS-tee" and not "PAY-stee" when you're referring to the food.

Spend a day in Marquette County. So much to see and do. You can visit the Marquette Harbor, including the lighthouse (you can tour it through the Marquette Maritime Museum), walk through the historic downtowns of Marquette, Ishpeming and Negaunee. There are amazing walking and biking trails, including the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. You will find great food, awesome beer (several microbreweries in the county). Stop at DaYoopers Tourist Trap, tour Cliffs Shaft Mining Museum in Ishpeming, and so much more.
