Let’s visit Stefano Trabucchi

Dear Friends,
The second Violin maker I visit during my virtual Beijing Palm Expo Project is Stefano Trabucchi.
We know each other for almost 35years already. In the year 2000 I made my first trip with him to Atlanta to exhibit at the Violinshop of the Huthmakers; since that we alway kept in touch and had always great fun. Beside the well known fairs we visit in Frankfurt, Shanghai, Beijing and here in Cremona, last year Stefano organized a very nice exhibition In Finland in Helsinki and of course I participated.
The visit in his workshop has been a great testimonial regarding experience. Watch his varnish jar and you might understand. No need to explain any further.
If you worry about experience, stay cool because with cremonese makers you are always on the right side.
I appreciate of Stefano his great democratic and diplomatic way. Stefano Trabucchi is a fundamental part in our Cremonese violinmaker community.

I have to say I'm really enjoying your videos of the luthiers and buildings. I wish I could visit Cremona someday, but for now your videos are my virtual vacation away from the USA. I've just taken up the violin at the age of 65. I want to learn to play but I am very attracted to the construction side as well. Thank you so much and it's nice to see you all get along so well. Oh! and I love hearing you speak the language even though I don't understand it. Sounds wonderful anyway.

This brings back so many memories!! The last time I was in Stefano's shop, there was a blue ribbon in the window in celebration of the birth of his son. It is wonderful to see how our "makers" have become masters. Love the video!! Love the T-shirt on Maurio.

I understand that most of the cremona luthiers use oil varnish. Why Stefano use spirit varnish instead? Would it damp the resonance of the violin and affect the sound?
