I just read Ebert's review of NCFOM online. He certainly did love the film. "The movie is a masterful evocation of time, place, character, moral choices, immoral certainties, human nature and fate." Apparently, that is what we were supposed to "get". Sorry, Roger...

@@grey1951 its got a horrible 3rd act. The ultimate subversion of the audience. The antagonist (Javier Bardem) and the protagonist (Tommy Lee Jones) never meet, never exchange a single line of dialogue with each other, and never appear on screen together. Javier Bardem's character doesn't even kill Josh Brolin's character who he is chasing through the whole film. It's an absolutely asinine plot. Why does anyone like this?

Well, I just finished watching your No Country For Old Men cycle of videos. I am sorry both the book and the movie brought you down although I really anticipated that this would be your reaction. McCarthy is certainly not for everyone. As you said elsewhere, you need the break. Maybe read some pure storytelling like Louis L'Amour for awhile as a palate (and system) cleanser. Take care.
