Sorry Matt. I disagree. "Native Americans" are above the Hispanics on the Hierarchy. My mother in law is full Indian... and I once witnessed her get out of a ticket because the cop accidentally mistook her for a "Mexican." She went full race card, and the cop looked like he just went three rounds with Mike Tyson. The thing is... she is full native. No whiteness in her. Zero. Matt just hasn't seen many full native folks because they are so rare. In fact, I once saw her go toe to toe with a black woman at Hershey Park over victimhood. It ended in a stalemate.

I knew I was at the bottom of the heap six years ago. It struck me when the organization I had volunteered thousands of hours for declared I was "a typical white male" when I dared question how liberal the association's definition of sexual harassment was. (You could be guilty of SH for complimenting someone's choice of hat or shoes, for example.) When I pointed out that comment about me violated the association's own rules about racial harassment, I got no support. Within ten minutes I had quit all my volunteer positions in that association.

I’m pretty sure that if I ran a DNA test I’ll even get some black points. As a Hispanic, I think the category of "Hispanic" is too broad. My mother is from Chile, and I have been accused of having "white privilege" even though other people conversely see me as a "person of color". My father, who is half Mexican, had "white" written on his birth certificate because he was a pink baby. Most Hispanics who I know who feel victimized are mixed with another category, usually indigenous - sometimes black. For example, I know this Peruvian guy who bases his racial grievances on colonialism because he is part indigenous Incan, and the Spaniards (white Hispanics) conquered his people. Me, I just consider myself me. I speak Spanish semi-fluently and work with the Latino community, but I never thought about shades of color until Rachel Ziegler was denounced for not being pale enough to play Snow White.
