Farmer Pete and his old tractors. These kids today that are 5th and 6th generation farmers know nothing about old tractors and the joy of tearing them down and rebuilding them. They seem to want to drive these new green ones...Enjoy your videos and wisdom..

Hello: at 5:48 in the video, you can see your webb of the spreader is in backwards. Flip your chain around left on right and right on left. The "L" bar should be on the opposite side for support. We were a small farmer as well 320 acres but now I'm in Dallas. We still have the farm. Hope this helps, I'll watch to see if it is flipped.

It is amazing how quiet it is around your farm when Patty has her mouthful.😂 I like your plan to use the upper barn for the cows. I am sure Patty will be expecting a special stall just for her. Thanks for taking us along for the first field work. Have a blessed weekend!

Never, in my former life before Just A Few Acres, could I have imagined loving manure spreading. I love to watch you, Pete, TLC-ing your farm with poop being among my favorite of your activities. Pigs, cows, chickens all poop not having accessibility to modern plumbing. Now that I have seen how this stuff keeps happening, and you cleaning stalls, coops, pens, spreading manure feel good to watch you do. You are at the epicenter of the reality of life on earth while I, not having accessibility to the earth as you do, have drifted from what really matters. You and Hillary are my link to how life REALLY works, before politics, social media, fluxing stock market, every convenience offered to my American, middle class, white, suburban lifestyle. I am grateful I know of you through your videos.

When running older equipment or vehicles it is a good idea to have two, just in case one is down for repairs. It is a good thing you can maintain your own manure spreader since it is one piece of equipment no repairman will ever stand behind.

Pete, I love the constant tweaking and process updates of the pig barn plans. We did something similar over the last year. Started with "let's build a new pig barn" and kept reevaluating and changing the plan until we finally came up with a solution. We ended up retrofitting the old existing tobacco barn on the property, and we are just now finishing up our best farrowing season yet, thanks in large part to the well thought out and designed infrastructure. Can't wait to see where you end up with your design process!

As you were spreading the second load of manure, I could see and hear Nancy and Ronald Reagan. It was a press event and they were asking President Reagan what Nancy got him for his birthday. There was a pause and he answered, a manure spreader. There was this kind of a "what did he say pause?" And he repeated a manure spreader. This time it sunk in. There was laughter. There are those of us who do understand. 😊😊😊😊😊 Have a great day.

As an OTR tractor trailer driver I thought I had an obsession with the weather too. Which route to take, stay North or not, when to leave home, etc... Couldn't tell you the number of times I jumped in the seat just to beat a storm moving across the country, trying to keep a normal trip from becoming a nightmare. Now retired I'm still a weather-watcher so I feel for ya brother. Keep on Truckin'!

Hi Pete, well I must tell you I was completely blown away with your announcement of the Farmall 656 steering arm breaking. The astonishing part is that my White American 80 had the same part, called a steering sector arm break. While it wasn't exactly the spot yours broke in, it was that part and as a side note, it has a Westendorf TA26 loader and I was blading my road. I have to agree, I like hearing the sound of the 756 engine kicking in and roaring. Just a thought, have you considered switching the loader from the 656 to the 756? I do think the idea to move the addition to the upper barn is a better one. Sorry my comment is so long, but I do love farming and we all can gain knowledge from each other, if we choose to. Thanks Pete, have a wonderful day!
