Australia has a population of aprox 26 million and USA has 333 million and look at how we compare to athletes we are nearly on par with the number of athletes. We should be so proud!

Athlete participation numbers have very little to do with national population figures. There are a set number of sports, each with a limited number of participants based on performance qualification and national quotas. If some events were not set with a limited number of participants and national quotas, then the men's marathon in athletics would be a field of mostly Kenyans and Ethiopians (38 of the top 50 in world rankings are from these two nations). Australia does not have a male marathon runner ranked in the top 100, yet there are three Olympic spots for Australian men. What many people either forget or don't realise, is that some of the best athletes in particular events don't get to participate as a result of national quotas. Some sports, i.e. Modern Pentathlon, have only a small number of participants world wide and the sport presently keeps its Olympic place due mainly to tradition. Some sports are expensive (financial and time commitment) to be personally involved in or require complex organisation in respect to facilities (hence India, despite its huge population, has a very limited international sports presence). Bottom line, learn more about sport in general, the Olympics in particular and try to keep your nationalistic fervour under control. This sports festival is intended to be more about personal achievement and improvement, "Citius, Altius, Fortius" than parochial nationalism.

Loved that France and the Parisians used the Seine and Eiffel Tower as the focus for the opening ceremony and boats as the introduction to the competing countries….so original and so much better than a closed off stadium introduction!!! Having the most of the opening ceremony with the country introductions and entertainment on the Seine and other areas of Paris was a stroke of genius in my opinion…made the whole thing so awesome!!! That Balloon with the Olympic Cauldron was phenomenal! Add Celine singing…well that took that whole ceremony next level!!! ❤

We sadly had to turn off the Opening Ceremony as some of the content was not child-friendly. How is it appropriate for drag queens (highly, sexualised, adult entertainers) to perform for a family show? The Olympics is and should be family-friendly. As a Christian, I was appalled and shocked that my faith was being mocked by the drag queen Last Supper scene! You don’t have to agree with or even believe what Christians believe but to mock openly and make fun of someone's faith is never okay. That’s a step too far. It’s unacceptable. Why can’t we go back to celebrating the athletes who have worked so tirelessly and dedicated their lives to their sports? What have drag queens and mocking Christians got to do with the Olympics?

La clôture dès jeux Olympiques sur le stade de france était pas mal, très beaux feu d'artifice. Los Angeles fera t'elle mieux que nous en 2028 ? Pour lès jeux d'hiver en france en 2030 aurons nous de la neige dans nos montagnes c'est une autre histoire et de l'argent pour faire lès jeux Olympiques ?
