An interesting detail I noticed in this insanely well animated scene is that out of all the villains Wander's ever interacted with, he actually looks worried whenever Screwball gets too close. And the reason that's interesting is that up until Dominator in The End of The Galaxy, there's never been another villain that can bring out that side in Wander. Just that fact alone shows that Wander shouldn't be taken lightly when he says Screwball is dangerous.

Am I the only one here who really appreciates the visuals in this scene? Like holy shit, those are some really gorgeous color palettes, they contrast so well together and are very eye-catching. And then when his string breaks, Wander's colors become all desaturated. And I love that the music notes are actual objects that collide together and get stuck in the wall, I thought that was clever. And of course, Weird Al Fucking Yankovic makes everything 10X more interesting.

It may be just me, but this guy is terrifying the more I think of this scene; I'll try and explain why All the other villains want to destroy or make Wander suffer, sometimes for revenge; this guy wants him alive for sinister purposes and perhaps has been after him for a while, because of this line: "Why do you continue to resist me?" Villains like Hater and Dominator just want to rule the galaxy or obliterate it; this one wants to make everyone happy, even againest their free will; in fact, going by what he said before the song, he won't do it to just one galaxy, as opposed to everyone else that seem content with only this one, and he doesn't appear to see himself as evil Wander sees every enemy as a friend he hasn't met yet... but why is this the only one he wants to avoid? I believe that Wander's hero disguise is some sort of coping mechanism, seeing how scared he is of Jones; notice how he hasn't used it for anyone else, which probably means he feels safe around them... yes, I said it. Wander feels safe around DOMINATOR, for the love of Grop Also, everyone on the leaderboard knows or met one another e.g. Hater and Awesome sometimes clash heads with each other, Sourdough hosted a party that about five of them attended, Peepers seems to keep himself updated with information of any competition like Dominator... Wander is the only one that knows Jones and he's a good guy Every other conqueror is fueled by negative emotions like hate, narcisism, greed... how can you defeat someone who uses happiness? Flarp, I still hope that Peepers was supposed to be the main Villain in season 3 instead of this joker that some fans are suggesting! (I have explained why I think Peepers in the comments of another video, a clip from The End of the Galaxy)

I agree with what you said, but I think perhaps the biggest danger is that unlike Awesome's self-aware (and rather adolescent) narcissism, the fact that Screwball considers himself a good guy (and is overwhelmingly more powerful than Brad Starlight) means his potential to turn people off to joy is far greater than the other villains. The other villains want to crush hopes of resistance, while Screwball is unaware that others may resist him by resenting joy altogether. Thus, in a sense Wander and Screwball have similar objectives on the surface: to spread joy. But the underlying basis for the joy Wander wants to spread is based on mutual wellbeing. The underlying basis for Screwball is making others addicted to him like a drug. In that sense he isn't unlike Little Bits, but while she is actively manipulative and her methods have no direct impact when her influence isn't involved Screwball creates a perpetuity to the misery he spreads that even he doesn't realize he is doing, and likely wouldn't care if he did.

I think it's interesting that you mentioned Brad Starlight, because both he and Screwball are, more or less, delusional, although it's possible Brad's growing out of this, even if he still calls Wander and Sylvia a silly sidekick and dumb steed. Now that I think about it, Jones could be the enboiment of toxic joy, which is worse that what the other villains have done. You see, all of them rely on physical pain, even ones like Lil Bits and Sourdough, which can be healed with the right treatment; Screwball, on the other hand, can do emotional pain, something that takes place on the inside of the person who's been infected. How can you fix something that you can't see? At least with Lil Bits, Sylvia has proven that people can be immune to her powers; helps that she tends to use trickery, something that anyone can notice. On a side note, glad I'm not the only one to see that Brad Starlight is a villain, even if he makes Hater look more competant than normal 😅

@Alice Wiegold I mostly agree, but I think the biggest danger of Screwball has much more to do with how his methods combine "joy" with pain, joy being poorly labeled. This can lead to internal confusion on the part of his victims, and if wrongly processed can lead to a lifetime of misery. Brad Starlight, despite his delusion, just makes others annoyed/uncomfortable. Most villains cause pain directly. I have my own theories regarding the Black Cube, but it is off topic. It isn't the inability to see it as much as the potential to poison people's emotions to hate joy itself that I see as the main issue.

I watched this episode and I can honestly say, Wander, you are truly amazing and the best hero I’ve ever seen. You’re so epic the way you made up that joke at the beginning when you challenged Screwball to a fight. Did you know that we used to have a pony named Screwball in Equestria before my magic disappeared? Boy, that mare was crazy just like this villain. Did that villain, Screwball make plots to make people laugh all the time? He kinda reminds me of a villain in mind that I used to study. His name was Discord. He was the spirit of disharmony and chaos. Maybe Screwball needs to be reformed. But you know, not all villains are like that. Still, Wander, as a awesome hero, you make a good friend and a friends help a friend in need. I’m so proud that you accomplished defeating Screwball and rescued your loyal steed, Sylvia in time. Here's a fun little theory about the magical musical instruments: How powerful an instrument is in a sense like Wander and Dr.Jones are using them here is directly related to how complex they are to play; meaning that even the smaller Concertina that Screwball is wielding is more powerful than a string instrument like Wander's banjo; a concertina is still way more complicated to play than a banjo is, even if an accordion is more complex than its smaller cousin
