Letchworth State Park Gorge trail

On my final night at Letchworth State Park AKA "the grand canyon of the east" in Castile, NY I hiked the gorge trail and trail #5 which led me right down to the river. The day was perfect and couldn't have had better weather. I was able to take my time and enjoy the scenery and take some awesome photos. It was one of the best trips i have had in a long time and very happy i did it. Anyone who ever has a chance to go here, don't pass it up.

Thank you for a beautiful trip down memory lane. I grew up in suburban Buffalo and have spent many hours in this beautiful place with my family. There are many hidden gems in this park, including a memorial to Mary Jemison and a Native American museum. You picked the perfect day and time of year to showcase its natural beauty. I'll come back again when I want to remember it. 🥰

I am glad you enjoyed it! We moved next door to this awesome park 6 years ago from albany area. Had no idea it existed. What a treat. May I suggest you hike on the other side of the gorge if you get a chance. That side is super cool and more wild, but well marked trail.

Very nice view of the Park. I'm too old to hike the trails anymore, but I grew up in Livingston county. I recently posted a quick tour that included the Mt Morris Dam. This is truly a beautiful place.

Thank you for posing this! It’s a great reference for first time visitors like myself. May I ask where the road you are/river overlook is at 8:30? Or even the general location before/after that road

Thanks for the comment. I started this hike on trail 1 starting at upper falls by the rail road bridge in Letchworth state park. I then i down trail 1 which took me along the Genesee river and to middle and lower falls. Trail 1 itself is about 7.5 miles one way. At 830 in the video I am around lovers look out point I think it's called. But from trail 1 I then get onto trail 5 which took me right down to the Genesee river.

I would just drive the main road through the park and stop at all the major points, like upper, middle and lower falls, lovers point, and some of the look out points. That way you can see the best of the park. These points of interests are along trail 1.

@@scottlowman.1044 during the winter season they close the road in the middle of the park so if you enter in through the mount Morris entrance you'll have to exit the park and reenter it through a different entrance to get to the falls. Also lower falls trail will more than likely be closed. Definitely grab a map online

Man, you're just like walking around on a sidewalk with ski poles and an app for some reason. No balls. That's not a hike. Get down into the gorge. Head on up river from the lower falls to the middle falls, go butt-skidding down the river, find your way into the cave at the base of the middle falls, leap into the water, then scramble straight up from there. Now that's a hike.
