Sadly you have to treat it like a jester. Once one has encountered a play your time on that moon is now limited. After so may times of calming it down it will get to a turning point. When it spits up green goo that's it. You are now gambling for time and every shake afterwords has a chance of instantly transforming it. So once you get the baby maneater its time to start wrapping up. I also believe this is inspired loosely by the fae changeling only a lot more bloodthirsty. Acts like a baby until you let your guard down before showing its clearly an adult and vary hungry.
