Watch as the AJC explains, through animation, how lethal injection in Georgia works.
Georgia prisoner sentenced to die wants firing squad, not lethal injection
By Rosie Manins
A death row inmate who fatally shot a man while fleeing from a bank robbery in Gwinnett County wants to become the first person in Georgia’s modern history to be legally executed by firing squad.
Michael Nance, 62, appeared before a federal judge in Atlanta on Monday as trial began in his case alleging it would be unconstitutionally cruel for him to die by lethal injection. Nance claims his deteriorated veins and prolonged exposure to back pain medication mean the state’s lethal injection procedure won’t work as intended. In comparison, death by firing squad would be “both swift and virtually painless,” he said in case filings.

lethal injection is not at all humane. It is also very likely to be botched and mishandled, due to improper doses of anesthesia. Even then, the slow acting chemicals can take minutes to complete its process and during that moment the patient feels intense pain and asphyxiation. All while being tightly strapped to a bench, with no room to move around. Even beheadings in the middle ages were probably less agonizing. It's about time that people stop believing this false myth.

They used sodium penathol to put me to sleep before surgery. The anesthesiologist told me start counting backwards from 10 and he gave the IV a shot. Lemme tell you, those 3 seconds, just before I went completely under were the best 3 seconds of my life. Lol. I was scared shitless because I'd never had surgery. He gave the IV the shot of penathol and instantly, I felt it. It felt like heaven. It felt like I was floating on air. I started giggling and he said "That's some good shit ain't it?" Then I was out. I think western civilization has gone too far the opposite way. I mean in the middle east they still stone people to death for even being accused of something like infidelity. But here ins the US we think its harsh to kill someone at all if they are convicted of doing something horrible to another human being causing them death. Once there was a time someone said "If I get caught doing this, I will go to death row". Now its, If I get caught doing this I might even get out of jail without bail immediately after I do it. That's f'd up.

What’s the threshold? What if someone tortured your loved ones? It’s a horrible thought but I think a valid point to the discussion. Hey, did you know that in terms of male human and female Pokémon breeding, Vaporeon is the most compatible Pokémon for humans? Not only are they in the field egg group, which is mostly comprised of mammals, Vaporeon are an average of 3"03' tall and 63.9 pounds. this means they're large enough to be able to handle human dicks, and with their impressive Base stats for HP and access to Acid Armor, you can be rough with one. Due to their mostly water based biology, there's no doubt in my mind that an aroused Vaporeon would be incredibly wet, so wet that you could easily have sex with one for hours without getting sore. They can also learn the moves Attract, Baby-Doll eyes, Captivate, Charm and Tail Whip along with not having fur to hide nipples, so it'd be incredibly easy for one to get you in the mood. With their abilities Water Absorb and Hydration, they can easily recover from fatigue with enough water. No other Pokémon comes close with this level of compatibility. Also, fun fact, if you pull out enough, you can make your Vaporeon turn white. Vaporeon is literally built for human dick. Ungodly defense stat + high HP pool + Acid Armor means it can take cock all day, all shapes and sizes and still come for more.

From watching "Dead Man Walking", I do know the basic protocol.: A venipuncture line is placed on one's arm, and a IV tube attached that will deliver the deadly chemicals to the condemned after being sent to the death chamber. The prisoner will be on a gurney, and restrained with lots of belts with locks so there is no escape. The prisoner will get a chance to do his "last words", and unless something allows a "stay of execution" at that point, the execution will be carried out. The order of chemicals are - 1. Sodium pentathol first (a sedative)...... 2. Pancromium bromide second (causes permanent paralysis of the respiratory system).... 3. Potassium chloride last (irreversibly shuts down the myocardium - or heart). Likely the prisoner executed by injection will be hooked to vitals to confirm the lethal injection death. Death is confirmed when the vital signs indicator "flatlines."

I was in the hospital with an infection and a case of undiagnosed primary Hyperaldosteronism. The admitting doctor took me off of my potassium prescription. After a day, my potassium level was .75. A nurse came in without comment and changed the bag. Within a minute, I was in severe pain. I could feel my heart beating in my chest. I told the nurse to remove the IV. She advised me the doctor ordered it, as though I should accept it without question. I informed her under FL law, I could refuse any medication. I then told her to remove it, or I would remove the IV myself. She left the room, telling me she would be right back. A minute or so later, a doctor (resident) came to my bedside and told me of the admitting doctor's mistake and that my potassium level was dangerously low. It dropped from 4.5 to .75 in under 30 hours. He sat talking to me for the next 45 minutes to take my mind off of the pain. The potassium burned the vein, and the nurse had to replace the IV line. The bottom line is simple: Potassium IV HURTS! I was able to feel not just my heart beating, but my veins and arteries.

@@mason.11 I agree non violent crimes and mere possession of drugs or even sale of small amounts of weed should not result in a prison term. But violent crimes and large scale drug ops should. Premeditated murder should be automatic life sentence no parole, and rape, child molesting and depraved heart murder should be capital offenses.
@mason.11
@mason.11 3 жыл бұрын
@@nhmooytis7058 Right, I'm not denying any of that (except for that last part). However, you brought up "taxpayers" as a reason to keep the death penalty. Only about 20-25 Americans are executed per year. Decreasing the entire prison capacity in the United States by that little isn't going to affect the amount of taxes we'd have to pay. That is why I brought up nonviolent crimes -- imagine how much less we'd have to pay in taxes if we removed those people from jail instead. That's 20% of the whole population! It's only changes to the prison capacity to THAT EXTENT that will affect taxes. Now to your capital offense suggestions -- all crimes must carry maximum life without parole. For the record, as awful, heinous, and disgusting things like rape and child molesting are, the only crimes that get death penalty in the present day involve a dead victim. Again not to take away how bad those two crimes are, but premeditated murder is a more serious charge to be found guilty of. With that being said, I'm gonna redirect back to my first question as to why killing those criminals help anyone? Obviously its true that they won't ever hurt anyone ever again if executed, but why wouldn't life without parole in a single-confinement maximum security prison accomplish that? On top of preventing them from hurting more people, that sentence gives the opportunity for inmates to reevaluate and restructure themselves which was one of the big reasons why there was so much controversy to Brandon Bernard's execution. But the BIGGEST flaw about the death penalty, to me, is that it's an irreversible sentence after the execution is performed. We've already executed inmates before evidence that casted doubt surfaced. That alone should prove that it needs to be abolished. Innocent lives are ending. That is the polar opposite of "Land of the Free"
@nhmooytis7058
@nhmooytis7058 3 жыл бұрын
@@mason.11 I wouldn’t support the death penalty in a case where there is a real possibility they have the wrong person. You seem not to believe depraved crimes merit death simply as punishment, I do. Sadly, even execution doesn’t mete out on a depraved killer or rapist the same suffering experienced by their victims. I’d skin them alive slowly then light them on fire. But that’s just me. I’m not advocating it, and anyway, under the Constitution it would be banned as cruel and unusual. As for taxes, I wouldn’t spend 10 cents of anyone’s money to keep them breathing. And there is NEVER a guarantee someone locked up won’t escape, or kill in prison, or even be freed by changing laws. Fry ‘em and forget ‘em. If they didn’t want that fate, they shouldn’t have made the life choices they did (unless they were so severely insane or low IQ as not to ‘understand the nature and quality’ of their actions, the legal standard. And being drunk/high is no excuse they chose to drink/drug.)

Unexpected death by itself is one thing, but knowing exactly when it is going to happen and be seconds or minutes away from it has to be the most horrific moment a human can experience. “The death penalty. It should be brought back and it should be brought back strong… They say it’s not a deterrent. Well, you know what, maybe it’s not a deterrent but these two [men convicted of killing two police officers in Hattiesburg, MS] will not do any more killing. That’s for sure.”

To those whom say he was innocent, rehabilitated, or anything like that: get over yourself. There was no proof of his innocence. He was involved in the deaths of 2 people and all he had to say for himself was "I'm sorry." Because we all know that just saying sorry brings the dead back, reverses time, and is essentially the undo button right? I swear, people have lost their god damned minds trying to protect a killer just because of his race. Humanity's fucked.
