Lethal Weapon: One of the Best Action Franchises Ever?

What made this movie franchise great and love to rewatch was the consistency of the characters. Not only Riggs and Murtaugh but Murtaugh's family, the Police chief, the added characters in LW2 and LW3 like Leo and Lorna show up until LW4 using the same actors which make us root for and care. Even though never shot back to back like Lord of the Rings, the continuation of the characters despite where the movie's story goes they remain and behave the same. That's what makes this franchise beautiful.

I agree that consistency is a great thing, we get watched to these characters and seeing them return in the entries is always welcomed. I also like how throughout the series Murtaugh is constantly working on his house, and when it’s finally complete, it gets destroyed.

Probably my favourite 80s action franchise next to Die Hard loved the R-rated violence adult situations and almost every film you always feel like Riggs is gonna die but he always survives ,love those films man.

In Shane Black's original draft of Lethal Weapon, Mr. Joshua was the one responsible for the death of Rigg's wife! For whatever reason, though, Black took that out in his revisions. He did end up re-purposing the idea for LW2 with the South Africans. When Jeffrey Boam came on board to do that film's rewrite, he said the scene where Riggs confronts Victoria's killer was his main reason for taking the job. He really wanted to write that scene.

Probably one of the most consistent Action Franchises. The first one will probably be my favourite (yes, I do watch it during Christmas), but I do love Lethal Weapon 2, and 3 and 4 are enjoyable as well.

I watched the entire Lethal Weapon franchise for the first time this month and I had a blast. None of them are bad and they are definitely films I will watch over and over again in the future! The second one is certainly my favorite one!

Top 5's a bit of a stretch imo. You have James Bond, Mission Impossible, Indiana Jones, John Wick and Police Story ahead of it for sure. Possibly Predator, Terminator and Bourne too.

I like having action movies take place during Christmas because the Christmas season usually gives off a feeling of peace and calm and it's a time of the year where we're meant to come together as friends. But movies like this show that no time of the year is safe from crime and evil

I was born in 92 and I knew my pops loved these movies but I didn't get in to them until 23 when I was coming off of black tar Heroin and my ex and I were super poor because I was a dope head but we had a TV, a very old DVD player and this box set with all 4 movies. I absolutely love this series, probably to this day my favorite movies series of all time. I absolutely love 3 but that's because I love Riggs and how he finds love.

I love lethal weapon franchise. If wasn't for lethal weapon,I wouldn't probably be a buddy cop fan. You can definitely see Riggs and Murtaugh traits in other Buddy cop movies. One is all about the action and the other only does it when he has to.

As ridiculous as I have always felt part 4 is, it is still a must-watch having sat through 1, 2 and 3, if for no other reason than the end credits, which can still bring a lump to my throat. I can happily watch any of the Die Hard films individually (not including 5 as a Die Hard film requires more than just a character called John McClane) but, if I watch a Lethal Weapon, it has to be 1 thru 4. A few years ago a friend told me he had never seen Lethal Weapon 3. We watched about half of it and then mutually agreed to start at the beginning of the series and work our way through. I have mixed feelings about the Gibson helmed entry . I will of course watch it if it ever makes it to the screens but, is it required? Are there not other stories and characters waiting to be brought to life that are currently stuck on the pages of books and scripts?

Lethal Weapon series is what other series' only strive to be. Each movie can stand alone but works even better when watched back to back. For me, part 3 was the first one i ever seen and i watched it on a recorded blank tape that had 2 other unrelated movies also recorded on it. I loved it so much i had to go back and find the first 2 in the series. And i was extatic when later in life they made the 4th. And now i gotta rewatch the whole series, 😂

Lethal Weapon and Lethal Weapon 2 are the best entries in this franchise. Lethal Weapon 3 is still enjoyable but am not really a big fan of Lethal Weapon 4 which is a mish mash of Neighbours meets Lethal Weapon. It is ironic that Edge of Darkness music soundtrack was an inspiration for Donner as Gibson would later star in a movie adaptation of that mini series 😅

Lethal Weapon is the GOAT when it comes to action movies. Out of all of them, I normally watch LW2 more, but part 3 I barely watch. LW3 wasn't bad, but I just didn't enjoy them like the others. Maybe it was Rene Russo's character, and the action sequences.

I feel like the real problem with the 3rd and 4th movies - too many "Main Characters". Had the kept the focus on Riggs and Murtaugh instead of some kind of Ocean's 11 cast-overload comedy I think the magic would have kept strong. Still enjoyed them though.

I still don't think having a LETHAL WEAPON 5 is such a smart idea, even if Mel Gibson would do an amazing job directing it. The TV show was amazing FOR THE FIRST 2 Seasons. But Damon Wayans(Murtaugh) ruined that series, and Sean William Scott(Cole) did a great job in Season 3, but he didn't reach the level of Clayne Crawford(Riggs). I think LETHAL WEAPON should be modernized and remade from the ground up. Start out in L.A. for the first movie, but then get out of that TRASH state of California, and take it to Texas and Mexico for LETHAL WEAPON 2, and then take it INTERNATIONAL for LETHAL WEAPON 3 and 4 etc.
