There is something special about this film. I have now put the blue ray on so many times...not to see the whole thing, but to see the "in-between" parts, the pauses and silences in a conversation...the driving around, the streets, the movie theaters, the sun going down on that town, the neon lights turning on. These parts to me are magical.

Nothing person and with all due respect. Rotten Tomatoes hadn't even reviewed this movie. Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs are great. He had a writing partner for those 2 great films. Everything else he’s done has mediocre writing and tries to get by on shock value. The characters are one dimensional, the plots are hokey, the dialogue is forced, and the acting is underwhelming when you consider what some of the talent he’s worked with is capable of. The Kill Bill movies would have been derided as total crap had they been released by someone who wasn’t already famous with a devoted following. It’s like someone sat at a whiteboard brainstorming all the edgy tropes they could come up with and then tried to piece together a story out of it. Quentin Tarantino’s movies are try-hard nonsense. They’re supposed to be extremely edgy and cool, but they’re barely watchable once, if that, and completely forgettable if you aren’t someone who thinks memorizing and quoting lines from his movies makes you cool. Good luck. Sorry but I just like to speak my mind.

Vern Orrell --- Thank you for your comment and compliment to the crew for the hard work that was put into the production of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. As the State Licensed Electrician for Locations, I can tell you that the whole crew went above and beyond to make Quentin's vision reality. I have been a fan of QT's films since his first and when I got the phone call and was asked if I had time and if I was interested in working on a film that would most likely be a full-time gig for four or five months, I said sure without knowing what show or director. I'm fortunate enough to be one of the best at what I do and work on mostly the top films and tv shows for all the major studios. When we started scouting locations, the first place is when I found out who was director and what film it was, I had to stay cool and professional but when I got in my car when we left that location I couldn't believe my luck. But when we started working I realized why I was chosen to do the electrical work that needed to be done. It was brutal. I worked almost seven days a week, every week and every day was 14 -18 hours, the whole crew did about the same. It was worth it. It was such an honor to be part of such an iconic, instant classic. We all knew from the beginning this film was going to be epic. Even though few people knew the whole script. We just did what was asked of us. It turned out fantastic. This documentary is one of the best ones I've seen about this movie.

Quentin Tarantino is an absolute genius and living icon! He has singlehandedly changed the landscape of cinema history, and American pop culture! Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is an excellent film, and easily one of his best ever. I highly recommend it for anyone that appreciates his work. I would love to see the Directors cut. I'm sure that it's even better than the actual film. The novel is also brilliant, and an instant collectors item as a hardcover first edition. What makes the novel so interesting is that it gives the reader so much more insight on the characters. It's also very informative about the history of western films. The fact that both film and novel is based on Hollywood during the late 1960s is the most interesting aspect of this story. A lot the novel brings back priceless memories of my early childhood during the early 1970s. Also, life in Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. Q.T. has created another masterpiece!

What most people don't know is there was a stuntman named Shorty Shea who when to Spahn Ranch only to be murdered by the Manson clan, making the scene with Pitt the even more suspenseful. Seeing him drive off was a small "once up a time". The main one being the ending with Sharon living also. It's a literary technique, an enclusio; an alagory or retelling of the story within the story. Here done brilliantly. Also on the innovative side is when Pitt flashes back while on the roof. Then in his flashback is another flashback. Great writing.

I honestly didn't think QT's IQ was 160. I knew he had an edictic memory but he underplays it really well by being so bombastic in public. What goes on in his head must be some combination of torture and sleep deprivation because if I had that many well fleshed out characters floating around at any one time, I'd be certifiably insane.
@dionmcgee5610 Жыл бұрын
He's a writer and an artist. Haven't you ever heard about the fine line between art and insanity? There are known limits the brain has for dealing with people- the maximum numbers the brain can capably remember and organize are used in how the military is regimented- numbers beyond which the brain breaks down and can no longer function. Creating unique characters and remembering them is little different than remembering real people. They are REAL to a writer. They each have their own personality and follow the dictates of their individual psyche. Very often, when writing, the story goes in unanticipated directions as the invented character's behavior dictates how they would respond to a given situation- fleshing out the story with details that could not be imagined precisely before hand. A good writer is aware of that and leaves room for the characters to stretch and live within the plot. Hopefully, the story being told will fit the characters invented. But sometimes a character will.break free of the story in unforeseen ways- and in those instances a writing block can be formed and, well, that can lead to the death of the story or a completely different story branching off. Or a tedious reimagining of the character to fit the new constraints of the plotline- but those changes are sometimes less satisfying and less real and can be recognized by astute audience members when watching the finished project.

Such a great series. Thank you for making this. Tarantino has always been my favorite and this was a great wrap up of everything. Jackie brown is my personal favorite movie. It feels like a hang out with old friends whenever I rewatch it

The documentary came up on my suggestion list. I put it on to play as a background while I was working on something. That something never got worked on and some three hours later I've watched all three in the row. The quality is on par with Tarantino's style and creative character. It was educational, enlightening, nostalgic and encouraging!

Wow! What a lucky stumble-upon! Thank you, KZbin Algorithm! This was sensational. Now I have to find more time to amaze myself with Vols 1 & 2. This was just a fantastic film and film maker documentary: brilliantly told, remarkably revealing and edited to perfection. Hats off to the whole team.

Literally just found your channel yesterday and watched all 4 parts of your documentaries... and you just upload this! Brilliant work and research on two of my favorite directors. Do you have any ideas on who you would cover next? Scorsese would be a massive undertaking...
@OkoloKino4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching and your warm words. Scorsese is under production since about half year ago... it will be awesome, but we suppose to publish it not earlier than summer 2021, because there will be about 4 hours of content.

@ThereIsAlwaysaWay23 жыл бұрын
Nah, Tarantino said he was retiring 20 years ago .... but he is INCAPABLE to stop writing scripts. If he ever stop filming himself, you will still see his script on screen for a good while. No worries Hardy.

OMG, Part 3. Yeah, The Hateful 8 wasn’t my favorite flick but it had it’s moments. I always loved to go to the movies. As a kid, my dad hated me so reading and moves became my escape. I lived in California during that whole Charles Manson thing ( only in America). I remember the Sharon Tate character in Made In Hollywood wearing those white Nancy Sinatra boots. How about that little girl that charmed Decaprio in the movie. We love you Q. Make just one more film, please. Anyway, UTibe thanks for running the 3 videos and showcasing our greatest director/screen writer. He’s an icon.

Fantastic, practically encyclopaedic content!!! Congratulations, Ievgen & the team! On a side note: let's think of a more appropriate term than "director's cut" for a possible version 2.0, as QT's artistic freedom had no restrictions anyway! ;)

They used minor CGI to cut out the two buildings that now occupy the sides next door to the Cinerama Theater. Jodi Foster was also a child actress still working today that had TV guest spots in Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Adam 12 and Kung Fu to name a few. Jay Sebring was friends with Bruce Lee and was the one that told his client The Green Hornet and Batman TV show producer William Dozier about Bruce Lee for the role of Kato. Jay Sebring had a small guest part as a barber in the TV western The Virginian and a bit part on Batman. Sebring also was a hair stylist for the TV western The Rifleman, credited as Robert Vaughn’s stylist for The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and was a stylist for Steve McQueen, Jim Morrison, George Peppard and several more celebs.

Great video. To add a bit more to this, the score hear when Bounty Law opens, was a Bernard Hermann score written for "Have Gun, Will Travel". Also, the scene where Cliff Booth enters Spahn's house and the suspenseful music is also BH, scored for Have Gun, Will travel
