Anthony Sasso - He wrote this song when he told a girl he could love her after he slept with her then later came to realize that the couldn't. This is his apology to her. He said this in an interview.

This song is about how so many girls have wanted to be with Jason because they have a maternal instinct within them to fix the broken, and he just wants someone to want to be with him because they just do, rather than because they want to fix him. He said in an interview it's this maternal instinct that causes nice girls to often end up with such douchebags...."screaming at death weddings". He's such a lovely man, I hope he finds a girl who wants to be with him for all the right reasons

Pheromones are defined as "chemical factor that triggers a social response in members of the same species". I don't think it is an actual cult, but some kind of metaphor about not loving someone for them but for their 'pheromones' per say. If I had some kind of lyrics I'm sure I could enunciate more or find a more prominent metaphor but right now thats the most likely thing that comes to mind :p
@alagjalhg11 жыл бұрын
I don't know how I feel about this album as a whole. The heaviness is heavily driven by drums and not guitar distortion like their first album which is hard to get used to, but there are still a plentiful amount of melodic lines that get shivers down my spine. I could see myself liking it, but it is not the kind of album that immediately blows me away.

I know, but I've spent enough time with producer buddies to know that harmonies don't usually sound that auto tuned, even with Melodyne.

Was just thinking the same thing. Jason Butler doesn't use auto-tune, he doesn't actually need it.
@thecowardford11 жыл бұрын
I'm an idiot because I said it has too much auto-tune on the harmonies on other tracks on the album? That makes sense.
@Murphgoat11 жыл бұрын
Well yeah, the production is a bit heavy, not saying that is a bad thing whatsoever, for I think this may be one of the best albums this year. It is absolutely incredible. But I know a lot of it is multi-tracking, but I only hear vocal harmonies in one or two songs, like Dreamer's Disease which still might be my favorite on the album.
@thecowardford11 жыл бұрын
This is probably the only song that isn't flooded by auto-tuned harmonies. It really makes me sad there is so much of it on here.
@Murphgoat11 жыл бұрын
Yeah I get to see them at warped the 14th of July. They killed it last time I saw them with the new touring drummer.
@Antlion16111 жыл бұрын
Best song from this album no doubt. maybe their best behind muther
@startburninginthesky11 жыл бұрын
my guess is that they're using that kind of effects (if any) on the vocals to get a specific kind of sound because clearly jason does not need any kind of pitch correcting. also it was only explicitly on one song? flooded is not the word to use here
@thecowardford11 жыл бұрын
That's exactly why he doesn't need it.

@Schoobs3111 жыл бұрын
If you take time with a good producer in a studio you can record harmonies flawlessly with a sharp ear.
@thecowardford11 жыл бұрын
Yes, really. Tracks like "Younger" and "Dreamer's Disease" have an absurd amount of auto tune on Butler's harmonies, even though he doesn't need it.
@ANattyRat11 жыл бұрын
Probably because it's seen as a mainstream/pop thing and people don't like it. Not a fan of it myself, but if it is auto-tune, it's so minor it doesn't take anything away.

@sector31111 жыл бұрын
why does it even matter whether or not Letlive uses some autotune. It is obvious that Jason can sing, and sing well. So why would it be an issue? If he uses it it is certainly just for the feel of it, not for the pitch correction. He doesn't need that.
@ANattyRat11 жыл бұрын
This is definitely my favourite song on the album (unless the last one is better).
@ANattyRat11 жыл бұрын
I've heard some, I'm not sure if it is auto-tune or just what you said, hard to tell.
@thecowardford11 жыл бұрын
I'm fairly certain I know what auto tune is. You're acting like I'm saying the album is shit when I'm not, I'm just saying they are putting it in the album when Jason doesn't need it. There is no need to be condescending and confrontational towards me.
@Kebinwmiles11 жыл бұрын
The drums really stand out. Maybe a little too much. I notice they have a new drummer. That might be why the drums are mixed a little differently. I just saw them at warped tour. They kiiiillllled it. I also noticed that they have a touring drummer. I love this band.

I can pretty much guarantee you that Pheromone Cult (or cvlt, whatever) is just a metaphor the band came up with to associate to the song. Off the top of my head I would guess that it means a group of people trying to manipulate someone else or another group of people. This going just by the title though. I need lyrics o try and decipher the rest of the song.

Well yeah, it will be hard to tell until full release. They intentionally release the songs in worse quality so people can't steal it and have it sound good.
@JamesENGL11 жыл бұрын
That's what I was saying, glad you agree.
@TheParadux11 жыл бұрын
It's the really bad compression ruining the multi-track vocal harmonies, not auto tuning. Wait for the full release and it should be clearer.

@supmyhomiez9 жыл бұрын
UhhBurns he mentions in live recordings that he "didn't have the courage" to tell a woman he loved her, I believe the notion of "deaf weddings" is to do with him dreaming/ having nightmares about being married to the woman this song is about.
